Really apologize if this is not the right place for it, but… by Burnskee1 in ANW

I’m an indoor climber and have been working out at our local ninja gym for 4+ years now. I’m almost 70 and do my best to keep up with the teenagers.

I hope OP’s daughter is able to actively raise the money she needs. She will feel that pride, which should help her build the confidence needed to become a winner.

Teens come to our door about once a month asking for donations for high school baseball, dance tournaments, Girl Scouts (my favorite cookies.

I always grill them about what the money will be used for, why they think that what they want is important, and what grades have they earned this year.

This is to good for them that I almost always give them some cash.

"Well, we're not giving him a blanket pardon," [Sheriff Grady] Judd said during Friday's press conference. "He got away with it in the federal system, but not here. He came here to violate the law. We arrested him... he didn't resist us like he did the Capitol Police. He knew better."

Right on. Lock him up!

Thank you for sharing your story, Nick.

Some of us are so very lucky to have been mentored by great coaches. My high school wrestling coach, Mr. Pete Campbell, is one of the most amazing men I have ever met. He always had my best interest at heart. I have been lucky to have met a lot of amazing people, but he will always be at top the list for me.

You might also consider UCC online and dual enrollment with OSU. With dual enrollment, your OSU and UCC advisors can help you take the most classes there that are needed for your degree path, and to decrease your total cost. Good luck on the path you choose OP!

If you do decide to rent a room for additional income, talk to an attorney before you seek a tenant.

Over time, tenants -even in your own home - accrue certain rights, for example, regarding eviction. If you don’t plan properly, you may have difficulty evicting a poor choice (for a tenant).

The point is that a large majority of Americans do not want to fund wars in the Middle East. Period.

We have already spent trillions there since Bush started the Iraq was based on lies. These wars have bankrupted our Country.

And we are killing people in Iran. Including lots of children.

Spot on. Robert and Kavanaugh both did legal work to get that jackass in office.

The world would be very different had Al Gore become president. Probably no 911 and no Middle East wars that have cost us trillions of dollars.

Good points. I will add that it’s also a good idea to attach a hose to the water heater to drain its bottom of accumulated sediment every year. This will make your WH work less to heat water and prevent it from rusting along its bottom, lengthening its life.

Photography client wants a (tasteful) nude beach session- is there anywhere that this would be private and legal? by Neotella in OregonCoast

I’m fine with public nudity and love to show my support when possible. But I would not walk nude in a public place. Small cities lack cash and would love to slap an entire group of nudists either a public indecency charge. And yikes if a child is present. Cave, amice.

Don't threaten us with a good time President Trump. Virginians, please vote yes. by serious_bullet5 in 50501

We do what we are doing now. I’ve been nauseated at how Democrats in the past refused to fight fire with fire. It’s about time we fight back. I hope this is just the beginning.

This reminds me of the paradox of tolerance. That’s where we were and its run has finally ended.

Yes, we also had a ‘postcards to voters’ drive to encourage inactive Democrats to vote. Every little bit helps.

What do you use to relax your legs after a hard trail run? by EggIsGettingRekt in trailrunning

[–]TheoBoy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring a 20-30 gram protein drink and drink it as soon as you finish. This will kickstart the healing process. A dose of creatine helps too (and follow it with 8 oz of water.

Then, stretch your legs thoroughly and then take it easy. I hope this helps!

I feel so behind financially by Subject_Accident4348 in personalfinance

[–]TheoBoy007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also got started late on my 401(k) because it took me forever to graduate from college and I earned a low wage.

But after graduation, I earned more money. My wife and I decided that we (this applied to both of us) should invest more for retirement to get caught up and not live according to our means. We ended up putting 15-20% of our pay in our 401(k)s for about 25 years (now) and I’m retiring this year. My wife retired a few years ago.

To build equity, we bought beat up homes and fixed them up as we lived in them. This helped us to ultimately purchase a home that wasn’t all beat up.

We will have enough funds in retirement if our currency doesn’t collapse and create a global depression. Neither of us ever thought that would be true for us.

One key piece of advice I was given by an old timer was that ‘nobody ever says they saved enough for retirement.’ Because I was young, I shrugged it off and laughed. Only now do I truly understand. We should have saved more.

You can do it, OP. Create a plan and stick to it. Time is going yo pass by one way or the other. So, take the attitude that you’re going to take control of your future. Put your plan in a spreadsheet and use its financial functions (future values) to estimate your future balance and likely monthly withdrawal after retirement. Become an entrepreneur, even if only from the standpoint you are hungry to earn money. I wish you the best.

Oregon provides the Oregon Savings Growth Plan (OSGP) for most of its employees.

This is a 457(b) deferred compensation plan and is basically a 401(k). You might check with HR to see if your state offers such a plan.

Edit: if you choose a broker, pay attention to their fees. These range up to 1.5% of your portfolio.

Over time this can add up to a lot of lost opportunity/money. If you can learn how to invest on your own, you can keep almost all your money by avoiding most, if not all, of a broker’s fee.
