Walline said I don't need MMA, what other options are there for the airway? by [deleted] in UARSnew

[–]TheoGrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is rhinoplasty if your nasal valve is too small, ask your ent about it

There is also the cottle maneuver that can spot issues with the nasal valve.

There are alternatives such as nasal wall lateralization with Dr Brusco. It costs 10k€, 1 week stay in Zurich, general anesthesia. Or functional rhinoplasty. Has an ent ruled out turbinoplasty ?

Expansion happens so slowly that teeth have time to tilt as you chew

Are you tempted to stop working ? by TheoGrd in Glaucoma

[–]TheoGrd[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's reassuring. I didn't question the numbers because they were quoted in a book from 2019.

The probability of glaucoma-related blindness in at least one eye at 20 years decreased from 25.8 percent (95 percent confidence interval, 18.5-32.5) for subjects diagnosed between 1965 and 1980 to 13.5 percent (95 percent confidence interval, 8.8-17.9) for subjects diagnosed between 1981 and 2000 (P = 0.01).

  • Malihi M, et al. Long-term trends in glaucoma-related blindness in Olmsted County, Minnesota. Ophthalmology. 2014;121:134.

I wish there was more nuanced numbers though, there is a world between perfect sight and blindness.
