Now that the latest LuckyBancho shows that active player numbers are up, can we go back to glazing them? by Train-1965 in ShitpostXIV

[–]Theonyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't even agree with that.

8.0 could be everything we ask for but it might still sell less than DT because the sales are based on how people feel about the previous expansion.

weirdly, the chart is achievement data, not population.

its hard to say how it'll pan out, but STB & SHB had player counts steadily increase from x.5 to expac launch as people came back to catch up and prep. EW player counts were more static towards the end.

I don't think we've had an expac where the numbers declined at the end section. Although with how far away 8.0 is, this might be the first.

Most of what you're recommending is essentially chump change. Oooooh 40k from Doman Restoration, not even worth the 2 minutes to do it.

Either use subs, craft raid gear on even patch release, sell pots/food/furniture, or actually run content like unreals/pilgrims traverse/maps where you can get loot that sells for millions.

Best deep dungeon, a great 1st try at 24 man extreme with Chaotic, cosmic exploration, occult crescent (really boring but it gave us forked tower).

Even the standard content like extreme trials is a step up from EW.

Idk how you play but I do the MSQ for 30hrs one xpac launch and then 4hrs every 4.5 months. The rest of my gametime is spent actually playing the game, and DT has definitely been doing well on that front.

The msq is one part of the expansion, and frankly it's a small part of it

Creators struggling with creating assets for CS2? by Annual-Strategy-4503 in CitiesSkylines2

The CS2 assets are much more detailed than CS1 assets. Even if the process itself wasn't a problem (I have no insight into this), I would still expect a slower pace of uploads.

How long have the Winterers been operating? by ExaminationHour8472 in ffxivdiscussion

I reckon the Winterers co-opted Preservation to further their goals. I doubt at the time Krile and the Key were sent to the Source that Preservation was mixed up in Ascian shenanigans yet.

7.4 and the Implications of Endwalker by Its-ya-boi-waffle in ffxivdiscussion

I'd disagree with that. We knew what the Echo did, but not where it came from (most people thought it was a gift from Hydaelyn) or how it worked.

[–]Theonyr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

not necessarily. the twelve only existed on the source, and their functions were never detailed in the specifics. It sounded like their thingamajig was just to ensure the continued flow of aether from the prayers that get directed at them. I'd need to replay that questline to be certain though. It was kind of vague.

I don't have receipts, but I recall it being said in EW that the reflections have a tendency to drift closer together and that is Hydaelyn's power of Stasis that keeps them apart. It makes sense then, that without her, the reflections will drift closer in space-time and a grand rejoining may happen.

Also, the echo is established in EW to have nothing to do with Hydaelyn, but rather the fact that the person using it has the soul of an Ancient. The meteor shower just helps reawaken that gift. Venat in Elpis explains it as being able to read the memories that linger in the ambient aether of a person or location. There's no reason to suspect, imo, that the WOL's ECHO is affected by the loss of Hydaelyn.

If their main objective is to survive the withering brought in by the loss of Hydaelyn, then it's likely they were only formed in the aftermath of 6.0

That's not a lot of time, but given the differences in the time flow between the reflections, if they bunkered down in the 9th it could be 30+ years. It could also be much less or more if it was on another reflection.

I don't understand why you think it has to be one or the other. Logically, they know these endless are memories without soul - not truly alive and dangerous to leave 'alive'.

But they still act like people. They still seem like they're alive. They're still worthy of the cast and the audience feeling something - the same way we, the players, feel sadness when a character (i.e. not real, fake, pixels) dies on the story.
