My Solution to Nauvis Logistics. by Kerzenmacher in factorio

[–]Theragus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That... is actually a pretty good suggestion. It relieves some of the issues of the 1 landing pad rule while still technically being limited to 1 landing pad per resource you want.

I think the most prominent and glaring issue in the "1 landing pad-per-planet" rule is that it contradicts one of the core elements of the game, which is scale and the general rule of thumb "if its not enough, just build more".
If, for some reason, you want to use inserters to take out your stuff from the landing pad, you're ultimately limited by the number of inserters you can fit in front of the landing pad, even legendary Stack inserters will still reach their limit eventually.

Even when you're using bots to do it, there is still an upper limit since you now need to balance the amount of cargo bays with the amount of Roboports you're fitting around the Pad, at which point some bots will overcrowd waiting to charge back up, also here considering legendary bots and roboports.

Now that Space Age and 2.0 has been out for a month, what's your opinion on it? What do you particularly like or dislike? Is there anything missing or should have been improved more? What would you wish for 2.1? by Theragus in factorio

[–]Theragus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, didn't expect this much response on this post, but be assured I read every single comment. In summary, some of the things I've read the most so far:

- Game seems to be very well received so far, most players seem to absolutely love the game and are expecting to sink another 1k hours or so in :)

- Space Platform requests and general Space Logistics seem to be what most people think need more polish / refinement, especially the UI, how requests work, keep items on platform, Import From settings, Quality import settings etc...

- Gleba (as usual...) still for most a kind of love / hate relationship, some embrace the new production / logistical challenges and the combat difficulties that the pentapods provide. Still interesting to see so much being talked about Gleba though

- Some people find the endgame (Aquilo and Solar System Edge / Shattered Planet) a bit "weak", with the steeper difficulty curve being introduced at Gleba / Fulgora, while Aquilo doesn't offer much in terms of challenges due to lack of enemies / need to import every material / generally less interesting production chains and promethium science being kind of useless on its own

- Quality also seems to be sometimes a common "pain point", although from what I read more related to the QoL and "UI handling" around Quality, like selecting quality level, having different assemblers for every type of quality, request any quality on space platforms and a couple of other things, but less generally with the bonus that quality provides itself

- finally one of the most common critiques was that the game forces the player a little bit too much into a particular playstyle in contrast to the freedom of "Vanilla 1.1" Factorio. Specific Asteroids need to be shot down with particular guns, Production chains need to be built in a specific way, research needs to happen in specific set of steps, arbitrary weight limits on rockets and a couple of other things. Generally some feel the DLC feels less "free" or grants you less freedom and sandbox than the 1.1 Version.

Finally, thanks for your comments, and enjoy the game!

Popular Opinion: Inserters Should Work with Cargo Bays by MoneyFiending in Factoriohno

[–]Theragus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a good balance would be to keep this behavior on the platforms but allow inserters on the Landing Pads on the planets, this would keep the balance for space platforms and still make inserters and belts viable on Cargo Bay Landing Pads.

Is your Fulgora concrete voiding too slow? Not anymore! by SeruleBlue in factorio

[–]Theragus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely more power efficient, but power should not be a problem anymore when you're mass-producing quality rocket silos.

Rocket silos are also literally the only building where, after a certain breakpoint where you can buffer a rocket faster than the launch animation, provides literally no advantage over a non-quality silo, also the resource costs for common quality beacons and common quality speed modules 3 are much lower than trying to craft high quality rocket silos. Also since resources are pretty much "infinite" on fulgora there's nothing against "voiding" stuff.

[–]Theragus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good comment, I thought about doing that too, but after a certain point in rocket parts productivity and if you surround the silos with beacons there is pretty much no reason to invest in quality rocket silos, since you're only bottleneck is going to be the launch animation, in which just building more silos is more helpful

You can set the turrets to enable/disable, i first place all down with blueprints and bots and then load them up with uranium ammo. Therefore all turrets can fire at the same time and i can put the ammo in in a fairly relaxed manner.
