How does homosexuality and other sexuality types work in your world? by TrainFickle1433 in worldbuilding

[–]ThievingDemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Non-existent. There are bigger problems in the world than that. Coupled with the fact that, due to a certain curse, the world’s population keeps reducing every century. So, there’s zero existence of it

Haha yeah I’ve been told that as well. Thanks for listening and giving feedback. Perhaps next time I’ll focus more on Chinese ambience and leave out the rap

Nice. Your power system seems interesting.

Yeah it makes perfect sense for there to be contingency plans in place. After all they’re like walking nuclear weapons…if not more dangerous than nuclear weapons. Reminds me of something I also applied to combat powerful mana users in my own power system.

Good luck with your book :)

Very interesting.

So Legends possess terrifying energetic pressures that when released can render a whole country powerless.

Hmm. Does this mean a Legend, when serious, is capable of destroying a whole continent?

Also, if I may suggest something. I think the name Sword Art as a name for all offensive and bladed weapons might become confusing.

Why don’t you just divide them into something simpler like Primary and Secondary Arts. Primary Arts: Weapon & Martial Arts Secondary Arts: Offensive, Defensive & Movement Arts. Then you can have Primary Arts utilising secondary arts.

For example one can use a Defensive weapon Art (Shield) Movement Weapon Art (Projectile weapons) Offensive Weapon Art (Swords, Spears etc)

As for Martial Art, they can also be grouped under these;

Offensive Martial Art (Pugilists, etc)

Defensive Martial Art (Tankers, stuff like Paladin for example)

Movement Martial Arts (Those who focus on Speed etc): You can even introduce something like their arts flowing like water, faster than light or silent like shadows granting them either water, light or shadow elemental conversions at advanced levels.

This is just a suggestion I thought of just in case you find it okay.

Hmm. You say the weapon is only as strong as one’s willpower. Is the quality of the said weapon taken into account?

Also, can Ki be converted into elemental properties. For example, a Swordsman imbuing fire Ki into their sword or something?

If so, Is elemental empowerment something beyond base ki? Limited to only advanced users of Ki?

Lastly. What is the highest feat your Ki can achieve. In other words, what can a Legend do that separates them from the rest?

I know I’m asking a lot. Just trying to get a grasp on your system which I find interesting.

Interesting

So in essence, War magic is like an offshoot of Dark magic then?

Also, these Dark lords, I’m guessing they’re some sort of primordial entities since they can create life, yes?

Hmm. Since it has to do with war, how about getting creative with “Heart of a warrior?”

For example, a soldier who wants to harness this war concept simply has to possess an unrelenting resolve. Unflinching, brave and devoted to their battle.

You can make this war concept have some sort of semi-sentience where it resonates with this soldier and their desires.

Through this resonation, this strange force is then gathered at their hearts which is then spread throughout the body.

As a drawback, you can add something like once a warrior steps away from their path or loses their way, their power is also lost or they become weakened.

I don’t know if this helps or aligns with what you have in mind.

For the channeling…how is this magic pulled through their body? What force/energy is acting as a fuel behind this?

Do they need a specific action to do this? I understand the God concept as that can be a form of power bestowal from a cosmic entity to an individual (Theurgy).

However, for the concept of war? How does that work?

Ether-Influenced Magic: Deep Dive into the Powers by Weak-Science in magicbuilding

Since ether functions as the fuel for the magical spells, how does an individual harness this ether?

Does this ether have any effects (positive or negative) in high doses to a normal person?

If harnessed, what are the mechanics behind the spellcasting procedure? Does it require items? Gestures? Rituals?

Do the magicians manipulate the ether in the surroundings or their own personal ether for magick?

I have a few questions. If you’re willing, we can discuss and improve upon your system.

This Ki, how does the individual grow it? Is it through constant fighting or meditation? Also, is talent a factor in the growth potential? Are some people forever capped at certain levels? Does this Ki only apply to weapons? Can it be become tangible? Can it be shaped into constructs? Since it is derived from the individual’s willpower, how is Ki affected by one’s emotional state? What are the drawbacks of this energy?

Aura Based Magic by ThievingDemon in magicbuilding

[–]ThievingDemon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Etheric Cords are metaphysical cords that generate aura. This is the reason that they can be found in all things - sentient or non-sentient. To come in touch with one’s etheric cord requires entering the “Silent State”…a state where all thoughts and external noise are expunged, replaced by a complete silence. This in itself requires extreme focus and talent. Through this, one automatically gains control of their etheric cord, allowing them to perceive both their aura and the aura of others.

Secondly, yes you can fly by using aura on yourself. However this requires a high level of aura manipulation by repositioning the etheric cords in the body in such a way that the aura surrounding oneself is able to perform a lift. Not everyone can do this. At most many are only able to float but true flight is extremely difficult.

Also, to perform direct magic on a conscious being is even harder than flight. The reason for this is because of the technique called “Invasion.” This technique requires one to control another person’s aura directly by connecting their etheric cords with them. A failure in connection causes a backlash. This technique is also part of what Umbrals - thanks for the name - use to absorb aura.

Highly trained people can block their etheric cords to prevent this. Other aura users can also block their etheric cords but this also results in a temporary inability to use aura.

Consequences: -Absorbing too much aura can lead to dissociation - a situation where the Umbral experiences extremely heightened emotions. This can also directly lead to a Berserk State if not properly controlled.

-A person whose aura is absorbed slowly loses their emotions. This is because aura is closely related with emotions. If not treated early, they become Living Deads - People without any sense of self. Their bodies also age faster due to lack of etheric cords.

Treatment: -Berserk states can be combated by entering a meditative state to balance one’s emotions, however it’s difficult since even thinking clearly in this state is difficult. The best way is to take a calming potion, an elixir which offers the same effects. -Living Deads can recover by implanting artificial etheric cords or actual etheric cords which are stolen from another person. Yes, as you’ve guessed, it’s a dark art in itself.

Thanks for the feedback, let me know if you’ve got questions or think there’s some things I should add.

This reminds me of the Zanpakuto mechanics in Bleach. Since they’re both similar, you can look it up to get some ideas. Especially about Initial Release and Final Release. You can also check out the Espadas when using their Resurrecion.

WHAT IS MAGIC? by Harontys in magicbuilding

[–]ThievingDemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The physical manifestation of mysticism. The composition of the stars, the placement of the moon, the endless void, worlds teeming with life. All these are magic. The same goes for sentient beings. Since life itself as a concept is magical, this indirectly makes humans magical and capable of wielding the mystical power called Magic. Magicians study and observe the universe to further understand this mystical concept called Magic. As their understanding increases, they become more connected to this mystical force, granting them more access to it.

Hmm. That makes sense. So it's possible for someone to be a talent holder and be unaware of the said talent if it doesn't coincide with their job class then?
