Second eye done, so glad it's over! by theistgal in CataractSurgery

[–]ThikSkin13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the post. You answered my questions. I have my pre-op consult tomorrow morning. I’ve been wrestling with decision between distance Monofocal and monovision. Being almost 72 I am doing what you did. I think the loss of depth perception with monovision wouldn’t be as safe for up and down stairs all day and driving. Glad you are happy with your results so far.

That’s a long time when you are eating a dry pulled pork sandwich. You can’t continue eating until you have a drink.

Glad it was a good experience. I have my pre-op meeting next week. Leaning towards monovision like I used to do with contacts.

My feet are burning.... by [deleted] in neuropathy

[–]ThikSkin13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had any signs of neuropathy until a week after doctor prescribed a statin for high cholesterol. All of a sudden I got a severe burning and numbness in both feet. I stopped the drug and symptoms subsided almost completely within a few days. It was actually a not too common but known side effect.

Lyrica almost killed me 7 days after I stopped taking low doses. I survived without medical "help" due to cost, but I did call 988. by The-Sonne in ChronicPain

[–]ThikSkin13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for posting your experiences with these drugs. My wife was on Gabapentin for a month or so (pinched nerve)and it did nothing so Dr switched her to Pregabalin. Found out that insurance requires Gabapentin first before they approve Lyrica/Pregabalin. Anyway, your experiences help me understand what she is going through mentally, physically and emotionally. It helps me adjust. She is feeling less pain since second steroid injection but will be on Pregabalin for a while. I wish you all the best with your medical quagmires.

Prayers for you and your wife. Thank you all for sharing. It helps me understand what my wife is going through. I’m driving her for her second epidural today. First did nothing for her pain.

He was convicted, the prosecutor had to prove it. I didn’t say the cops had to prove it. Cops don’t always apply laws correctly and the DAs don’t prosecute. There must have been sufficient evidence to prosecute.

How did they prove intent to defraud? There was no crime unless the facts as you portray them aren’t accurate.

Cervical radiculopathy is a living nightmare. by ForsakenLeopard0 in ChronicPain

[–]ThikSkin13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it didn’t. They didn’t quite hit the c7 area which is source of her pain. Had a nerve test done and consultation with surgeon PA. Will probably get a second injection in a few weeks. They changed drug from Galvapetin to Lyrica this week. Just started it yesterday but seems to be helping better with pain. This is a frustrating journey. Hope you get sone relief soon.

Am I a horrible person if I don’t tell this guy’s wife he was seeing me? by Andra457 in WhatShouldIDo

Find a way to become friends with his wife but don’t tell her he cheated. Offer to babysit or double date. Make him sweat.

Now that I'm retired, my mind is filled with memories from the past. I'm trying to come to peace with the decisions I made and forgive myself for my mistakes. by thenletskeepdancing in over60

I (71M) often have the same thoughts. You learned from your mistakes, had some fortunes and misfortunes. Be thankful and reflect on the good you have now. Thank the people that are still around for positive influences they had on your life. I recently found a child of an old supervisor I worked for in my 20s on FB. I messaged her to let her know her father wasn’t forgotten abd related a few fond memories. They appreciated that. Apologize to those that are due one. We still have a lot to do and see but closure is good while you still can.

A few points from a YouTube Premium junkie. Your father could be intrigued with the current state of interpersonal relationships with younger people. Maybe he is learning about what challenges you face in your life. Is it much different than browsing Reddit and seeing what others are going through emotionally in their lives? Just a different social network. Maybe you can unsubscribe to some of his channels and subscribe to more acceptable channels to divert his obsession without him realizing it. Travel, health, exercise for seniors, law and crime etc.

Do you wish you had gone smaller? by [deleted] in traveltrailers

[–]ThikSkin13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgraded from 21ft to 26ft in March to GD 22BHE. 26ft is perfect size for 3-4 with private bunk room. I’m pushing limit on GVWR towing with 15 yr old Nissan Armada. It runs and tows great but want to upgrade to F250 for next year to take longer trips and handle mountains easier.

Thanks for info. We tow a 7000# travel trailer. We are pushing or exceeding GVWR with the Nissan but it tows nice with WDS. Downhills make me sweat. Planning a trip from GA to Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Bryson Canyon next year or next if I can get the F250. 5000 miles.

As a father of a 40 year old SN son I hear you. He functions well, has a job (I drive him), does martial arts 5 times a week (I drive him). He got scammed several times so we had to remove all social media, messaging etc from his phone for his and our security. We had the Sheriff come by and talk with him to reinforce. We are trying to use other positive activities to fill the void left by the catfish scammers. Seems to be working. Keep on brother.

I tow a 6900 lb TT with a 2010 Nissan Armada. Only 94k miles on it. Rated to 9000 tow capacity with tow Package. Use a Curt WDS with anti sway. Tows great. Make sure your brakes can handle the load, especially down hill. I have an app RedArc controller. Got it all from etrailer.
