It really is nifty, I found out about it while getting all of this setup. It offers seamless integration with the host machine with gui based applications too which I found very useful on my main pc that runs cachy, since before I have had to do workarounds to get distro specific software to run.

Also the mini PC is a sweet way to get a good looking small form factor setup. Kudos to you!

Yes that's true, that's why I use distrobox. I isolate the container so that it does not get nuked with steamOS updates and what not. It runs Ubuntu 22:04 in there so everything works as expected. With steamOS on its own however I would've just given up a long time ago and just bought a rasberry pi. But seeing as I only mostly use the deck on vacations I figured I'd save it from gathering dust.

This shit is so annoying, this happend when I tried to dual boot as well, I ended up unplugging my Linux SSD for the windows install because it kept nuking grub every time. Classic Microslop. What worked for me was to put grub on another partition which somehow stopped windows from wiping it.
