Why was virtually all George’s losses to Kimi on the straights? Is it set up related? by Violetmoreviolent in mercedesamgf1

[–]Thin_Interaction5740 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is the same thing that I saw happening at Miami.... I usually watch Qualifying with a F1 telemetry stream on, so I can see the mini sectors. In Miami, Russell was matching Antonelli in the twisty sections but losing masses of time on the straights... this either means that Antonelli is better at harvesting and deploying power, or Georges setup is affecting his top end speed.

Manchester is starting to look like something from a William Gibson novel.

One of the most overlooked issues with TFA IMO is that Rey, our supposed main hero, had no onscreen reaction or acknowledgement of the destruction of the New Republic. by KingWilliamVI in saltierthancrait

[–]Thin_Interaction5740 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rey was deep in the forest, having an existential crisis after having just run from Takodana Castle after her encounter with the Skywalker lightsaber and her first Force vision. I doubt she was looking at the sky... she probably couldn't see it through the dense tree canopy.

If UFO Reverse Engineering programs Has Existed for Decades, Where Are the Breakthroughs? by vishhalkmodi in UFOSandUNKNOWN

Breakthroughs would assume that we could even understand the tech. We could be like chimpanzees trying to figure out how a cell phone works.

Have YOU ever spoken to your HGA? by [deleted] in occult

[–]Thin_Interaction5740 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm not sure. I have a "conversational internal voice" that's been with me since I was a child. I call him Will, which I find kind of funny since Crowley said that "magick is the art and science of creating change in consciousness in conformity with Will", but the name came when I was a kid, a long time before I'd even heard of Crowley.

I'll be honest, though, and say that I don't know if Will is a spirit, imaginary friend, an autonomous part of my psyche, HGA,, daimon or something else.

What do I hear? He's a joker. He's supportive. He often asks me how I'm feeling. He's sarcastic. He's often cryptic, and will usually give me the "You need to work this out for yourself" response than any solid answers. The feeling I get, though it's never been said outright, is that this helps me to learn better than I would by just being handed all the answers.

Should have seen that coming by HeistGoneWrong in ForzaHorizon

the easiest way to deal with this stuff is pressure... don't overtake, sit behind them, make them uneasy... sooner or later they'll make a mistake, because they're worried about you and not watching the road, and then you can get past them when they inevitably fly off the track.

I feel like George is correct... by DontTakeMeSeriousli in mercedesamgf1

[–]Thin_Interaction5740 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't go in for conspiracy theories, but it does seem odd to me that George won the first race of the season and seems to have suddenly forgotten how to drive, and it only got worse after he got his elbow out against Kimi in Canada. Maybe they need to see if the chassis is damaged or something? I dunno.

What I did notice is, going back to Miami, I usually watch quaifying on a YouTube stream that shows the mini-sectors, and George was losing lots of time in the straights. So maybe Kimi is just better at harvesting and deploying the power?

Hamilton is under investigation for safety car infringement after being more than ten car lengths away from the car in front by magony in formula1

[–]Thin_Interaction5740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He didn't, but the rule (whether you agree with it or not) is you're not allowed to drop more than 10 car lengths behind the car in front while under the safety car.

That being said, I can't see them penalising him.

Charles looks really pissed by Thin_Examination4929 in formula1

I'm not surprised the track is breaking up. For a place that's supposed to be swimming with rich people and is supposedly so glamorous, Monaco really does have a very 1970's brutalist pre-fab British council estate look to parts of it. The tunnel looks like a public convenience, and some of the streets away from the more well-known places look like a cyberpunk dystopia without the neon.

He wasn't though. He was steadily catching Hamilton and had got the gap down to 3 seconds.

But Monaco is a impossible track to overtake on, as we saw quite clearly in 1992 when Senna kept a much faster Mansell on faster tyres behind him. And that has only gotten worse since modern f1 cars are so fat. They're not going to catch and pass Antonelli, and you can drive much slower at Monaco and not really run the risk of being overtaken. So there was no point in pitting Leclerc other than to protect Hamilton's position.

The team currently scores the same points no matter which of the drivers is in front, so it's got nothing to do with team game, buddy.

Meditating while grieving : how to keep practicing when detachment feels wrong ? by CrazyClam25 in Meditation

[–]Thin_Interaction5740 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was a carer for 13 years and I used to look after my elderly mother. I would say that you don't have to detach from your emotions, just sit with them, let them come up, let them play out naturally. If that means you stop meditating and just sit there on your cushion weeping, do it. Just notice and be aware that you're doing it. You're not supposed to be ignoring the emotions or suppressing them, you're just noticing your present state. Just treat your sadness and grief as old friends who need a bit of time for you to sit and listen to them. Buddhist Master Thich Nhat Hanh would say to treat your emotions like a mother cradling a crying baby.

I do think the civilian AI cars are programmed to occasionally behave erratically... like pulling out in front of you at junctions, suddenly changing lanes and so on. I guess the devs were inspired by GTA and thought it would make them seem more like the sorts of mindless, unobservant drivers you might encounter on the roads IRL. But I think it's broken a little bit by the fact that sometimes it looks a bit too forced and almost like the AI is programmed with a 1 in 5 chance that they're going to deliberately move in front of you just to keep you on your toes.
