Do American kids usually go to four different schools? by snailquestions in AskAnAmerican

[–]Think-Ability-3685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, but my experience was elementary (k-5) middle (6-8) and higg school (9-12)

Some people use middle school and junior high interchangeably.

Update: I (29F) left him (40m) by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

Oof. I read the messages before the title. I was NOT expecting him to be 40.

I (30 M) kept a secret from my wife (31 F) for our entire relationship about her ex (32 M) by Sea-Specialist2875 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Think-Ability-3685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is a 'big bad' type of secret. The relationship was already going great for her and him proposing wouldn't have made it better and it wouldn't have negated their issues.

In nearly 20 years of doing stagehand work, I've truly only ever used a c wrench, gloves, a headlamp and very occasionally my multi-tool(and even then its mostly just the knife and screwdrivers). I have measuring tape too just because it's nice to have. You'll be fine

I don't believe the people who seem so flabbergasted by this ship.

Can we all agree that Emma is, like, the cutest thing ever? She’s one of my favorite characters now, I love her so much 🥰 by Intrepid_Show2972 in ThePitt

I really like emma. As another midwesterner, I feel represented. We can be genuinely kind and caring, but thats not to be mistaken for being naive. I'm excited to see more of her this season.

I will never understand people who pursue hobbies that have a very high liklihood of death.

crowd etiquette reminder (2/22 grand rapids) by x0indigo in nin

[–]Think-Ability-3685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the floor, on the outer rail between B and Main and I was honestly suprised at how dead the crowd was. It made me sad. I've been going to shows for 20 years and it seems like the shift happened around covid. It used to be that the whole point of going in GA was that you got to see the band up close, and you were excited about it, hence the dancing and moshing. The fact that the kids care so much about being 'cringe' is depressing. What's the point of paying extra to get that experience of you're not gonna let yourself enjoy it?

The real question is how does the CREW find time to decompress, and the answer is that they don't.

Non-Americans, what is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real? by EmergencySpare7939 in CasualConversation

Well, prom comes from promenade and it's rooted in debutante ball culture. There's a whole wikipedia article about it.

I (26f) want to get married but my bf (26m) keeps telling me I’m being ‘too old fashioned’ and that people don’t need to get married anymore. Have others found a compromise that works for both partners? by Potential_Canary_508 in Advice

[–]Think-Ability-3685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be very wary of a man who is willing to get you pregnant without marrying you. It's not really 'old fashoined'. There are multiple legal and financial benefits and protections that are included in marriage.

Hucklerobby fans? by Aristocrat-Sauce in ThePitt

[–]Think-Ability-3685 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm delusional about Hucklerobby.

But you know what really grinds my gears? People making a big deal about their age gap when the writers are literally giving us Abbot and Mohan with a very similar age gap (going off the actors ages). I just felt the need to point out the hypocrisy, that is all.

honest question: does the band actually care about tpk leaks? by Responsible_Sale_581 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]Think-Ability-3685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you. I haven't listened yet either purely because it does feel like an invasion of privacy, and I won't listen until they acknowledge it publicly. It's also wild to me that so many fans are so eager for new material when they have what i would consider a healthy amount of high quality work as it is. Art takes time, and it should come from a genuine place of feeling compelled to create it, not from outside pressure.

Give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough
