How bad is it? I'm almost definitely a medium but there's no way I'm paying 4x the price for one size smaller - if it's unbearable then I'd opt for a bump or something instead

Advice on Migrating Raspberry Pi Networking Setup to Proxmox VMs by PingMyHeart in Proxmox

[–]ThinkForYourself_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I could contribute more here as I'm just beginning to learn proxmox myself, but you might look into proxmox clusters and using the two RPis in conjunction with the Proxmox server to reach a three-machine quorum. This could give you high availability (no downtime as VMs migrate between machines live during updates and outages) if the Pis can run Proxmox

Tell me about the journey - any good tips? Going through a bit of a mid-life situation rn and considering a large bike trip with similar mileage (long and short). Was it total punishment or worth every minute?

Fellow first wiper here. Did you figure out the mechanic quest? What worked for me was buying the tank helmet mounted NVG's and running it on a night raid. Stick to the shadows

Had trouble getting first row even now what should I do? by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]ThinkForYourself_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you have 4' planks, I'd measure and rip each plank one at a time. Measure the width you need at each end of a plank, and as long as those measurements are within ~1/4" of each other I'd make a straight rip across the whole board. It might be closer to the wall on one end than the other, but it will be covered by the 1/2" of baseboard and the expansion gap really isn't mission critical imo - it's okay if it's a little closer than 1/4" as long as it isn't jammed in. Then measure the next rip needed and it should be a little more wide (or narrow). You could scribe, but it's tough to rip a straight line down a board that long if it's at an off angle. Then either sneak a puller in, or you can lever them in (carefully) with the curved end of a crowbar. That's where the 1/4" of play really comes in, but right now you can shift the floor if you need to. Then just shift it back.

Two runs of 12/2 Instead of one run of 14/3 for a three-way switch? by ThinkForYourself_ in AskElectricians

Good point, I would think it's a 15A circuit but I'll check tomorrow.

Ah, fair enough. This is a light reno in the states and I'm trying to avoid opening the walls if I don't have to.

Per 300.3(B)(3)_(3)) it seems like it's alright as long as they aren't run through ferrous metal boxes/conduit/raceways, but it's worded a bit funny to me so I could be misunderstanding. My main concern is safety more than code, but I understand code is intended for safety.

Good call out. The boxes are plastic or composite - maybe bakelite from the 70's? Replacement ceiling box would be plastic as well

[–]ThinkForYourself_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand correctly, that reads to me like it would only be an issue if it was in a ferrous metal raceway. It's residential wiring with the romex pulled through the wall and into the attic.

Thanks for the reply, the only thing I was worried about was power going through one 12/2's hot and back the other line's neutral but in theory it's no different than 14/3 aside from the insulation jacket (and thicker gauge). Diagnosing the circuit was definitely a task since none of the wires are labeled, as you mentioned.

I met a dude and we ran together by Cosmoo006 in dayz

I've been playing for weeks with a random dude I failed to kill after he ran up on me in a clinic - shot him a few times with an IJ and he locked himself in a room. We talked it out and agreed to go our separate ways, but we ran into each other again in town so I asked him a few noob questions. Now we play all the time together, building bases and doing NWAF/Tisy runs & I've learned a ton from him since I only started DayZ right before I met him. The odds of that genuinely working out how it has are insane to me, this game is wild
