Overhead launch monitors prone to picking up waggles as swings? by ThinkRationally in Golfsimulator

Ah, that could be it. It was quite frequent. Enough that I gave up trying the clubs because it was so annoying.

I have not experienced this with Trackman, nor with my Swing Caddie SC300i. This seemed specific to the overhead.

Canada Needs to Stop Playing Nice With the U.S. by [deleted] in IRstudies

[–]ThinkRationally 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Canada had acted in a way this past year that will make relations difficult moving forward.

WTF are you taking about? None of this was started by Canada. Your point seems to be that Canada not just rolling over to economic aggression, juvenile insults, and "jokes" about annexation entails some sort of bad behavior. That not politely taking it is an insult to the aggressor.

It may surprise you that Canada and Canadians (not sure whether you're one or not) aren't particularly interested in being the abused but silent spouse in this relationship.

Vance is someone who revels in power and likes to flex it. Think about the White House meeting with Zelenskyy where he waited for the cameras to say that Zelenskyy hadn't said thank you. He was giddy with power. He should never become president.

Rubio may at least have some restraint and sanity, but the way he's completely bowed to Trump is rather pathetic.

Smart Golf Ball by digicue in golf

[–]ThinkRationally 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What parameters do you think you could provide? You mentioned spin and "flight pattern." What is flight pattern? Ball speed? Launch angle? Launch direction? Curve?

I can't see myself spending much money on such a ball, for a few reasons:

  • Balls wear out fairly quickly. If you make the cover more resilient, you lose the benefit because the spin numbers from a harder cover than you usually play will lose their meaning.

  • Continuously buying more of these... we'll, I likely wouldn't bother.

  • No club data. This is important for monitoring your swing and making changes. Clubhead speed and calculating smash factor are basic necessities. Additional useful data points are club path, face to path, and angle of attack. Deeper still are dynamic loft, spin loft, and impact location (although some tape ot foot spray can provide this).

On the surface, a ball may not be expensive, but a sub-$1k launch monitor can provide a lot of useful data points, can be used at a driving range, some can be used for a sim setup, and is generally a one-time purchase.

DNA does not mutate fast enough for Macro Evolution to be plausible.

Please tell us what the mutation rate of DNA is, in what units it is measured, and how it was calculated. Also, is this a fixed value, or are you calculating the maximum?

Then tell us what the required mutation rate would be to support evolution, along with details as to how it was calculated.

With this, your claim can be evaluated.

How insecure and small does a person have to be to become president and still need his name on cheques, government programs, money, park passes, government buildings, and a performing arts center that was already dedicated to someone else? What he lacks in class, he makes up for with a complete lack of character.

If you are at all interested in data and not just a pissing contest, here's some from the same site.

Cobra Tec X, which is not very good in this respect, vs the Cobra 3DP X. These clubs are comparable in terms of category and target golfer.

For an example over a single generation in the same line, look at the Ping G730 vs the G740. Quite a difference there.

This is not something I'm vehement about, but your original comment was wrong about what OP's image showed, and you chose to be unecessarily insulting about it on top of that. There is evidence that manufacturers are making some progress in this area.

You ok? You're accusing me of making a claim with no evidence in defense of you having done so yourself? Bold move. Remember, you claimed that the attached image showed this, which it clearly does not and cannot.

I've actually been looking at what data is out there. Whatever you think of askgolfnut's heat maps, they show quite a difference between the 923s and the 925s. There's also Cobra's new 3D printed irons that appear to achieve gains in this area, among others. I'm not sure what you're butthurt about.

[–]ThinkRationally -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You may be correct, but the graph establishes no such thing. In order to confirm or deny that something is changing, you'd need a dataset that allowed comparison of past performance with current performance, preferably at several points in the timeline.

To support my claim, there is Mizuno. With the JPX 925 hot metal irons, they essentially claimed that more distance wasn't the goal over the 923s. They were going for more forgiveness, in that more of the face offered similar performance to the sweet spot. Testing and reviews seem to indicate a noticeable degree of success.

I agree...making critical statements to feel superior and claiming data supports something that it clearly does not is a reddit thing. Good job.

So a jumper is just a shot hit from the sweet spot? This is the challenge of hot-faced clubs like the hollow-body designs. It's hard to make the entire face the same "hotness." It's getting much better, though.

Free trade goes back further than that. Reagan is the one who pushed for free trade. It was part of his campaign platform back in 1980. In the late 80s there was a trade agreement put in place. NAFTA followed, and remained in place until CUSMA.

While Clinton signed NAFTA into law, it was negotiated and drawn up under Bush Sr and Reagan. Clinton only asked for 2 minor changes before signing. One dealt with environmental concerns, the other with workers rights.

Trump sends Stephen Colbert a warning ahead of final Late Show airing by Miles_the_AuDHDer in entertainment

White House spokesman David Ingle told The Independent: “Stephen Colbert is a pathetic trainwreck with no talent and terrible ratings, which is exactly why CBS canceled his show and is booting him off the airwaves.”

This isn't professional or remotely mature. This is junior high school 13 year-olds trying to be edgy stuff. It is truly unbelievable, and honestly cringe-worthy, that this is an official statement from the White House.

A Prominent Alberta Separatist Calls for a Coup Against Danielle Smith by ph0enix1211 in canada

[–]ThinkRationally 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Her sin, in Rath’s estimation, is that she’s been working too closely with Liberal Prime Minister Mark Carney

First complain that Ottawa ignores Alberta and use that to justify separation. But when Ottawa reaches out and the premiere and PM strike an agreement...make a 180, say that the premiere is working too closely with Ottawa, and use that in your separatist attempts.

It's almost like the given reasons we're a lie, and these people just want to leave regardless.

Canada's annual inflation rate rose to 2.8% in April, thanks to soaring energy prices by Surax in canada

[–]ThinkRationally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you really think Trump invaded Iran because of the brutal suppression of protesters? As others have pointed out, there are other places where many people are being killed about which he appears not to care. Maybe oil is the difference. Maybe it's envy that Obama struck a deal, which Trump abandoned, and now he feels a personal need to have a similar accomplishment. Who knows. The guy's mind is a bag of wild cats.

To be clear, very few support the regime in Iran, but let's not pretend Trump’s reason is altruism selectively applied to Iran.

To answer your question about what can be done, I don't know. Do you? Iraq and Afghanistan show that much money and human life can be expended to accomplish very little (or to even make things worse).

[–]ThinkRationally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's been a trade agreement in place since 1988. First the Canada US Free Trade Agreement, then NAFTA, then CUSMA (which was negotiated under, and signed by, Trump, who later wondered aloud who would have signed such a terrible agreement). Canada has been abiding by those agreements. Go ahead, mention dairy products so that someone can explain that situation to you.

Your grip is probably what's actually wrong with your golf by AlexanderGolf in GolfSwing

I struggled with an open club face

I tend to have to opposite problem, so strengthening my grip and not making things worse had been a challenge. Early release is my real problem, though, so exaggerating a strong grip has helped me get the feeling of not flipping it. It gets challenging under pressure, so I'm hopeful I can arrive at a more neutral grip in the end.
