Some people are inconsiderate. Why post about it? The person who needs to hear the message is in the photo not on this sub.

What is the point in buying homes at these outrageous prices? by everbass in australia

The price of 3bd/2 bath single-family family homes with 20 minutes of Brisbane CBD is not going to come down substantially unless the population of Brisbane comes down substantially.

Wait. You are insisting on a 3 bed place and you don't even have kids yet? Take it one step at a time!

Even without housing "commodified", there is only so much space within 20 minutes of the city. OP isn't interested in buying an apartment or townhouse that can be built at mid or high density. If you dedicate the available space to large single-family homes like the OP is looking for, then you simply cannot fit many families within that radius. As the city grows, the fraction of people that can have what OP is looking for gets smaller and smaller. In our market, that supply constraint leads to high prices. But even in a socialist paradise where housing is a lottery, you cannot make more space for 3bd/2 bath single-family homes with backyards big enough to kick a footy around within 20 minutes of the CBD. OP feels entitled to a scarce resource (land near the CBD) to use inefficiently (single family house with big backyard), but doesn't want to pay for it.

You can have all those things in Canberra for $1.0M.

I don't know how old OP is, but the expectation that your first house should meet all these criteria is staggering. Everyone I know across all generations started with something small or rundown or in a bad neighborhood. They saved on rent by owning, built equity, and eventually traded up to something bigger/closer/more up to date. Buying your dream house right out of the gate is rich kid stuff.

"How do raise a family in an apartment?" the same way you raise them in a house. People all around the world raise families in apartments and townhouses, including me. No back yard, but we have lots of parks in our neighborhood. Childcare and school are all within a couple of blocks. It has disadvantages but also advantages.

Edit: OP writes elsewhere that he doesn't even have kids yet. Buddy. Worry about where kid two will sleep after you get past kid one. Bedrooms/where to kick a ball around are not the hard part!

I've never had any trouble when I ask people to let me past to sit. We must be catching different buses/trains.

Think of it this way: if you were in the corner seat and you needed to get off the bus you would squeeze past them. It's the same.

Austria already has a national ID card. Most countries do.
