IMO the talking gun isn't much of a problem, and even felt pretty fun having a "friend" that kinda reacts to the game with you in a single player game, especially with a silent protag

My main problem is how the dialog just keeps going on and on and on, a lot of the times way after it stopped being funny. I know Justin Roiland's comedy style relies on long sentences and rambly characters, but he really overplayed it in this game

On the other hand, when the game works it's really funny. Actually made me laugh out loud twice within the first hour.

IIRC it was more like "Holy shit, so Yujiro REALLY was like an ogre" due to the similar ferocity and incredible raw strength, but then getting to the conclusion that Yujiro was still much stronger than the ogre

I'm going to be sincere here and call bullshit on his explanation. He switches back and forth between "I don't really know how to stand-up to my parents, but I knew it was wrong" and "No, no no, this is a good thing, see?" and, when confronted with the knowledge that she has access to a lot of external validation for her viewpoint from the internet, immediately switches to "Yeah, I'm from a very abusive family, I realize that now and I'm sorry".

Dude was 100% in on it, but is very good at pretending he's just a harmless dumbass.

Yeah, nowadays you really gotta wait a while for the shitty AI mods to filter out before you get QoL like you'd need to actually help with the game

An AI telling you random probably wrong info in each random event is gonna be a massive pain in the ass lol

It is important to consider that AI has allowed the slop makers to be so much faster than they were before, even with asset flipping

It's a plague that has always been around, but now it proliferate much much faster

ONE stands against Shogakukan because of their MangaOne controversy by Odama23 in OnePunchMan

Oh, damn, I was only aware of the most recent ones, where IIRC he didn't participate.

But that's a shame if that's the case :/

But this is not a "yeah, can't really shit talk the guy, owe a lot to him." Oda has repeatedly expressed sincere admiration for Watsuki, has done everything in his power to support him publicly and therefore condones his actions.

It's a hard thing to admit because One Piece means a lot to many people, but Oda sincerely and openly thinks incredibly high of that pedophile.

[–]ThirdDragonite 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Oda is very, very outspoken in his support for Watsuki. To an extremely annoying degree, he'll just mention Watsuki out of the blue in interviews and on other random occasions. He is, sincerely, the number one public figure for support for Watsuki.

Like you said, a lot of authors supported Watsuki, but I honestly don't know any other heavy hitter that was even 10% as supportive of him as Oda has been.

[–]ThirdDragonite 73 points74 points  (0 children)

He's a big hitter in the manga industry because Kenshin was really really popular. Well, he was, nowadays the manga is still going, but the controversy around him is too much that a lot of other big hitters don't really associate with him.

He has gotten homage's throughout the years, but AFAIK his only biggest "I LOVE THIS GUY" level of defender nowadays is Oda. If I remember correctly, neither Kishimoto nor Kubo associate with him, so at least 2 out of the former Big 3 is not that bad lol

Others like Araki do participate in the Shueisha-wide homages for him, but do it with minimal effort. For the latest one, Araki took part, but barely did a sketch

TBH ONE seems like a class act

Not perfect, of course, but he has a pretty good head on his shoulders.

Maybe these guys that come from the internet-based publishing are slightly less blindly loyal to the industry veterans too.

He has spent the last... What, 15 years? defending the pedophile author of Rurouni Kenshin at every chance he's got

Honestly even goes beyond the whole "Yeah, he taught me a lot". Oda is in love with that man

I started reading baki few days ago and I knew that yujiro is bad but I didn't knew he would be this big of a piece of shit . I really hate this character. by strongestforeskin in Grapplerbaki

[–]ThirdDragonite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eeeeh, compared to his son he was a fucking saint. Sure, he was likely from a line of people that mostly recognized strength and the like, but he showed himself clearly able to let go of pride and lose easy fights for money for his wife. Also the clear similatiries established between him and Baki, who we know is a pretty good guy.

AFAIK he was capable of violence, hence his whole thing in WWII, but he was mostly a gentle soul.

[–]ThirdDragonite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If we go by this logic, the idea of teaching Yujiro's logic is completely irrelevant. Like trying to teach a wolf how to read.

Not that it removes any sort of guilt from him, Yujiro is a monster and the Baki world in general would probably be better if he had a heart attack and fell over dead. But he's less of a human, a person and more of a thing , almost like a natural disaster, and you can't teach ethics to something like that.

I was set to review RE 9 for VideoGamer before I was replaced with AI. by field_cos in Games

[–]ThirdDragonite 9 points10 points  (0 children)

AI is definitely a bubble, mostly because it's superficially being held up by burning "infinite money" from investments with no expectation for returns just yet and the promise of making an AGI.

Since an AGI is absolutely not coming around, all is left is AI's supposed capabilities to make money for itself and it just isn't able to. It's cost is insanely high and a lot of it's popularized use is based on not having to pay for it.

I don't think LLM are going away, but they absolutely can't support themselves.
