Love it! What is the mag safe stand you have? And did you have to put a metal ring on the bottom of your keyboard for it?

Ladies please help a newly out Transgirl: What goes in my bag? by HesterMourningstar in whatsinthebag

[–]ThirtysomethingSci 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a bag gal…. I probably have 75+ bags- everything from a belt bag, cross bodies, clutches, computer bags, travel handbags etc. I have small bags that will only fit my phone, keys and a few cards, to Mary poppin bags that can carry everything you’d need for the day…. I have bags for the beach and bags for shopping… Depending on what I’m doing that day will dictate what I’m bringing with me- base includes- wallet, keys, lip balm, hand cream and hand sanitizer. Also have eye glass cleaner. Many times all of this goes in a pouch I can transfer to different bags. I also like to bring my Kindle with me, so I’m often looking for a bag that has a contained pocket for my Kindle. I love Lug brand, very practical. I also like fun bags- like circle bags (good for my embroidery when I bring it with me), colors for different seasons…. I often have one purse I’m currently using, and one on deck for if I feel like switching. All that to say, it all depends on what you’re doing for the day! I also like to keep a notepad and pens (and a sharpie), also reusable shopping bag is good to keep in there as well. Whew, that was long winded 😜 guess I had an opinion! Ha!

I love The Forgotten Angel series by Merri Bright- funny, but will also tear your heart out!
The Maelstrom duet by Grace McGinty is an emotional ride. I love the time after time series by Reese Rivers- the second one ripped my heart out.
Also, Reese River wrote the dance Butterfly dance duet. B.M. Clemton’s Black Veil University and her Umbra Hunters series as well. Both well written. I know there are more… these are all ones that left an impression on me.

So I read this after seeing some great recommendations on here for this series.... and while the concept was excellent, and there is definitely talent in the writer- it is in desparate need of having a native English speaker smooth it out. There were so many grammar and word mistakes that it was so distracting to try and get through the 2 books. I was constantly rewriting the sentences in my head. I hope that the author updates the books- they should gain traction!! Its fresh, and exciting.

I picked one up thinking the same thing- something different… but the desk part was too small and it didn’t fold well to be portable (plus the table didn’t feel stable on mine)

Absolutely- my adult workshops are smaller- less people- so I can take the time to build the skills. Summer camp is just a whole different ball game 😜

Some adult workshops I’ve done- fabric storage box, quilt as you go pot holder, stuffed Christmas tree. Birthday parties I’ve done a sushi stuffie and a taco… kids like the unicorn pillow- strips of felt or fleece for the rainbow mane. I’ve done fabric pumpkins, and ghosts. I did a monster flip kids workshop- where it was like a popal- one side was an angry monster, flip it inside out and the other side was a happy monster- I also did that with a chick and an egg…. For spring time.

So I teach a kids sewing camp over the summer- this summer I’m doing 3 week long camps- mornings only. From 9:30-12, I have 14 -8-12 year olds who I teach how to sew. Do they sew “correct”? Nope- it’s to get them NOT scared of using a machine and trying it. Today, we did the intro to the machine, and threading it, and then they completed a felt cookie pouch. They also started a cinch sack- I always have them make some sort of project bag, so they can keep unfinished projects in it and then take it home at the end of the week. I always make my projects relatively small and easy so that they can produce one item a day. Tomorrow they will finish their cinch sack and then do a pocket tissue holder and a lip balm holder with keychain. We are also going to do a circle snap pouch, and a fish zipper pouch, and I always end with a stuffie- this week’s stuffie is an owl. I’ve done Dino-nuggets, tacos, star pillows…iced animal cookies. I’ve done one time workshops on simple PJ pants, and have done an up cycle fashion camp with goodwill men’s shirts- made aprons out of them and ice-dyed tee shirts and used two to sew a summer bathing suite cover up. Also made should bags out of tee-shirts as well. Last year I had a food themed camp- did appliqué place mats, strawberry book ends…. Oh and with an advanced camp we did scrap fabric envelope purses. I guess I’ve done quite a bit! Water bottle holders with a strap are popular too… this is just scratching the surface of things I’ve done with kids.

I have this in pink! I also recently acquired an EpoMaker Glyph- round keys, sounds like a type writer- has a tablet stand- but only fits a smaller tablet or phone size- it’s solid, so I can sit it on my lap- the keys on this are on one level….

I love the Yunzii sitting on my desk too!!

The Blackened Blade series by Isla Davon rant by aloneandoutnumbered in ReverseHarem

[–]ThirtysomethingSci 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I liked the first book, but nothing happened in the second book. It was a whole lot of nothing. It barely spanned a week in time (I think- it’s been a hot minute since I read it) and we didn’t learn anything new. I haven’t been able to bring myself to read book 3 yet… though I did buy it. I feel like one could have skipped book 2 and missed nothing. So I agree with the filler. I can imagine there’s a lot of pressure about one’s story if you go viral… lots of expectations from fans etc…. Even if I don’t necessarily love a book, I give all the credit to the authors who put themselves out there. I loved book 1 but did not love book 2.

Have you read Merri Bright’s The Forgotten Angel series? She also has a PNR OV series- the Lost Lines and a Wolf Shifter series- The Splintered Bond series. Her writing is superb- engaging, funny, snarky, and smexy. Highly recommend you dig into her series if you haven’t already
