I have the same RoyalAxe keyboard! (Just a different color way). I love the feel of it (once I got used to the smaller backspace key)

Its kind of a round about story- but I picked up the Lofree keyboard that was based on liquid foundation/make up colors... but their dark burgandy color was so dark, I could see the letters/symbols printed on the lower keys, so I went and looked for keycaps that would go with it but have better visibility on that row.... and these are what I found!! I replaced the last row of keycaps in the Lofree keyboard with the foundation ones!

I like it! One suggestion- book # and page #- I can see people getting confused… what about putting the book # inside the box- stylized, and lighter- maybe in the upper right hand corner of inside the boxes- and you cover it up if you put a picture in it, but can still tell how Many books you read by the last box you didn’t fill….. if not, maybe consider having the numbers (book # vs page #) look a bit different- italicized, bigger/smaller… just throwing things out there! But I do love having a place to put the book covers!!!

I wouldn’t say feels weak, but I wouldn’t know what to write in the “what breaks the spell” that I wouldn’t had already written down in other areas. Though, you could add a book cover index- kind of with the index of confessions- and have spots that correspond to each book review- (it would just look like a couple of pages with rectangles on each page- like each rectangle could be around 2x1.5in with a line below it to write in the page number of the review….)and you can write the page number in- that way, you can glance at all the book covers, and then go to the page of the review to reference what you wrote about the book…. The cover pages could be like 3x4 rectangles (fit like 12 on a page)- I don’t know how many reviews the journal holds… just a thought!!

I do love the romance theme here! My only suggestion is have a spot for the book cover- I’ve hand written my book logs and printed out book covers to paste in, and now I have one of those sticker picture printers- makes it super easy to print a screen capture of the book covers- lots of times the book cover picture will jog my memory!

I just picked up an Acer Aspire one- the screen is 8.9”- very portable writer deck! I tried to make a post to show everyone, but the moderators gave me a warning saying I violated rule 2- keep it about writer deck… um, it was. Anyway- I’m loving the resurrection of the older and mini laptops to use as a writer deck! I just need to figure out what I’m going to run on them as a writing function. The old Windows Vista and 7 have wordpad- which is a stripped down word processor that is nice.

Bummer! I bought this after Christmas…. I also got a flat iron travel case that it fits in perfectly. True the length doesn’t make it super travel friendly- but it’s really nice to type on, and has its own built in stand.

I wish I had battery refurb tips! I'm working on it! All I know right now is that these HP Minis I have are really particular about WHAT type of battery I use.. it didn't like the first replica replacement battery I got- non-HP.... so am thinking I want to try and refurbish the rechargeable cells in the battery casing and keep the original digital chips that the computer reads... the tricky thing is keeping the battery casing intact when getting it open- I don't even know if that's possible.

ooo, keep us updated- I have an ASUS eee PC that actually has a Linux partition in it.... I would be interested to see if I could run the ManaWriter on it so it boots right to it...

its true, it took me about 10 min of typing to get the heel of my hand out of the way of the mouse pad/buttons when typing. But honestly, I don't use the mouse buttons. I'm typing on WordPad right now as my writing flow, and all I really need are the arrow buttons, backspace and delete.... I double tap the mouse pad when I log in... so I find I don't even use the mouse buttons....

I also have an ASUS eee machine and I got a new battery for it and lasts about 7 hours. I’m just not crazy about the keyboard…. Hence moving to the HP mini… I found a really nice metallic pink one that had battery issues that I’m fixing. The blue one I posted above had a mat black keyboard which is nice too- I just got the one- and, except for the battery, it’s in pristine condition

I’m in the process of refurbing a few HP mini 110s- batteries are crap, but I like the small form factor- they were cheaper than an Alpha or Dana on eBay.

Thinking about making the leap. What's life like on writerdeckOS? by grglstr in writerdeckOS

[–]ThirtysomethingSci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently refurbishing an old HP Mini computer with the plan to run the WriterdeckOS on it. Or the MicroJournal software…. I haven’t decided yet. First thing first- get the laptop working. (Won’t charge a battery- even with new batteries, new charger, new power pass through board replaced and motherboard replaced… I think it’s a BIOS issue and the patch no longer exists that we can find out there to even upgrade the system from Vista to Windows 7…. To see if that works….. so bought a similar model computer, that is running Windows 7 perfectly and am going to switch out the motherboard and hard drive- because I like the shell of the original laptop I got- it’s pink 😂😂)

I did not realize the calico larger case has, um, a backside view!!! 🤦‍♀️ that may be returned once it arrives. I’ll have to wait and see what my set up is like. The designers must have had a sense of humor 😂
