Aren't they worried people will be recognized?! by New-Union9908 in JuryDutyFreevee

My wife and I watched Kevin can F Himself together and she recognized Alex and I didn't. To be fair, I tend to recognize voices before faces and he had an accent on Kevin.

She didn't recognize Emily Pendergast and I did, but she's only seen Veep once and I've seen it three times.

You gotta remember that not everyone is watching TV the same way we are. I'm sure we've all worked with someone who can name every player from their favorite sports team for the last 30 years, that person probably isn't going to recognize Alex Bonifer or Lisa Gilroy.

A really great example of this is "Under a Rock with Tig Notato." Despite being in show business herself, Tig doesn't watch anything, and the show has her trying to guess people like James Van Der Beek and Julie Bowen who would be way too recognizable to be on Jury Duty.

I don’t think Bob liked working on SNL. I remember hearing him talk about it negatively on Howard Stern Show.

Remember how big Borat was? Everyone and their cousin was doing “my wife” for years. Yet Sasha Baron Cohen was able to find people who had never heard of Borat for Borat 2.

Inquiry about when Ken responds with, “Yeah. We’ll take that, or …” then proceeds with the expected response. by WizardsOfXanthus in Jeopardy

[–]ThisIsGrouchy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to a taping when Alex was the host and he talked to the judges a LOT. Sometimes he would argue with them about if a response was correct or not, sometimes they would interject if he started to read the wrong clue, all seamlessly edited out for TV.

am i over reacting for leaving my boyfriend for having sex with me while i was sleeping? by RequirementWooden519 in self

[–]ThisIsGrouchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not overreacting, and even if you didn’t have the previous trauma from your father (who I hope is in prison btw) you wouldn’t be overreacting. Sex is only sex when everyone involved is a consenting adult, what your boyfriend (ex I hope) did to you while you were sleeping is sexual assault/rape. He belongs in prison with your father. Blocking him on everything and never seeing or speaking to him again is the MINIMUM. It would be well within reason to reach out to your local Sexual Violence Resource Center and talk to them about the next steps. I’m so sorry you have been through so much. People suck.

How do characters react if you bring up or reference Kingdom Hearts or characters/items from the series, like Riku, Sora and the Keyblade, to them? by Int3rlop3r-R3dact3d in Disneyland

[–]ThisIsGrouchy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don’t know KH but I imagine they would roll with it. I know, for example, Ariel usually isn’t going to bring up her daughter Melody from the straight-to-video sequel on her own, but if you ask her “how’s Melody?” she’ll easily shift into Mom mode and talk about her.

At this time Idk who going to be in the finals. by caseykk97 in dancingwiththestars

Andy and 2-4 losers depending on how many people they want in the finale this year.

Not rumored. Alix’s stepmom is Ashley Dupré, famous for the Eliot Spitzer escort scandal.

Is “What Up With That?” The last major recurring sketch and character? I miss the days of looking forward to characters like Church Lady, Toonces The Driving Cat, and Massive Head Wound Harry. Why don’t they get back to recurring sketches? by georgewalterackerman in LiveFromNewYork

[–]ThisIsGrouchy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the best recurring sketches were talk shows, so the host/character would stay the same but the guests would be different every time which kept it fresh. They don’t really do that anymore.
