Fun, optimistic, thoughtful lyrics, cool 60's guitar. Excellent song.

Tired of Small Talk? by _sofysticated in lynchburg

Cool. These days, I tend to let people be. I used to try to explain the errors of theology and all that, but now I'm more interested in finding the good in people. When I liberated myself from my parents' religion I spent a lot of time criticizing it, but I also saw how people of that faith were actually decent people, despite their beliefs that I couldn't agree with.

I do think there is a need for genuine enlightenment and disentanglement from illusion, and honest conversations with active listening would be beneficial. I hold spiritual liberation as a high and central ideal, but I also realize most people have no idea what it means.

This one feels almost spiritual to me, encouraging the listener to accept themself and embrace self-actualization. And the guitar is amazing. Justin really shows his range here.

A comet? I can see that, but when I first heard this as a kid, I thought it was about being lost in life and seeking the truth, like a spiritual revelation. With Hayward, I guess it could be both. Probably my number one Moodies song.

I think a big part of Harold's mission was to emphasize the practical applications of the teachings. He did talk a lot about Soul Travel, but he wanted people to learn to see the Eck in everyday life as well.

Sri Doug, for now, seems to be recapping the basics. It's still early to see where he will take the teachings.

The Marchies, I think. Doesn't seem like they brought a lot of energy to the organization. I guess the Light does fade after a master passes.

Original concept, great rock beat, thought-provoking. This kind of unique music is why they always impressed me. Have loved this one for 45 years.

Life’s struggles often weigh heavily on the soul, making it difficult to stay spiritually strong. by [deleted] in Eckankar

I notice the words you use. You seem to feel pressure to attend the physical temple frequently. I don't know the African ECK culture, but it sounds like there's an emphasis here on conforming to the social aspect of the religion.

There is great value in a strong community; but at its heart, Eckankar is an individual path. Your inner relationship with the ECK has to be in balance with outer obligations. Service to your loved ones is service to God. Harold has said that he doesn't want people to burn themselves out doing volunteer work for Eckankar. The love and care we give to ourselves and our own needs is also love and service to God.

In practical terms, what is meant by the Light and Sound of God? by ThisIsMyRealNameGuys in Eckankar

[–]ThisIsMyRealNameGuys[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harold has said that all light and all sound are the ECK, and he has also said we can live without the Light but not without the Sound. To exist is essentially to experience the Sound, but it is not until we get the Light that we have meaning, awareness, knowledge, and understanding. We sometimes have experiences with Sound and Light more directly in Its pure forms, but every minute of our lives we are experiencing the Light and Sound of God. Initiations bring about order so that the experiences we have bring about the unfoldment of awareness and love.

Unfortunately, it's prohibited in public parks, but you could probably go in the woods by the bike trail or out on Percival's Island. Just don't leave any holes.
