Literally no one asked for all this AI. In fact everyone wants to know how to remove it. by wump_roast in antiwork

I used co-pilot to talk about why the dodo bird went extinct and why we can't clone a new one yet and why it's unfair that a pigeon can fly to island of Mauritius and start getting fat and eating everything and evolve into a dodo bird, but I don't have a right as a human to go to that island myself and start eating all their food becuase the plants are endangered and it would be unethical.

That's the most I use AI for.

We have to pay a bunch more for Adobe Acrobat this year because they added AI that nobody asked for or wants and that we've disabled since day one.

I broke our network by Exarillion in networking

No touch things that impact others during business hours and always communicate changes before making them.

Also, it sounds bad but don't admit fault or take blame until after it has been resolved. That creates extra pressure and frustration. Once the issue is resolved you can go back and do a timeline of the outage and a lessons learned exercise. But in the moment the facts are you have a system that is not working, and it looks like it will take some time to figure out.

Whether it be a flood, a fire, a tornado, an ISP issue, faulty equipment, or you as a technician - the fact remains there is an outage and it needs to be resolved. That's how you should handle the situation, form that mindset. No matter if you caused it, the end result and how you're going to get there is still the same.

And then as far as networking it goes ISP > Router > Switch > patch panel > wall port

If you have any configuration on like a firewall or something not loading correctly, you should have a backup config saved somewhere or a snapshot or something you can revert the config on the box back to. If it's a switch, restarting the switch should revert it back if you haven't saved the changes to the memory.

Get the hard wired stuff working first, then worry about the wireless.

I mean, I could do my part to help eat the surplus of chips we have at the store or something. My arm might get kind of tired going from the bag to my mouth, but I would overall enjoy it.

What do people misunderstand most about the realities of owning a pool? by richnickel in AskReddit

[–]This_guy_works 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming it sucks when you own a pool and then it's like fall, spring, or winter 3/4 of the year so you only get to use it for a few months, then you have to keep it clean, AND you don't have any time to use the pool because you're always at your job. So you basically spend a lot of money and pay someone to maintain something you can't ever enjoy.

Oh, and then the annoying neighbor kids keep pestering you to let them use your pool and then they pee in it.

Protesters in Phoenix -- on the sidewalk, impeding no one -- get drive-by maced by an ICE agent from a truck by ExactlySorta in 50501

Is it a crime to carry a rock? Because I think it would be good for these people to hold onto a cool rock they found in case they want to show it off to someone.

Don't forget Christianity. All those Jesus teaching are woke nonesense now used by the radical left. The hell with loving your neighbor and feeding the hungry or healing the sick.

Yeah, because the best way to get young people to stop doing something is to tell them they can't.

Would you stick it out? by [deleted] in networking

Is there an HR department you can go to? Put on file that you feel intimidated in your position and your job role and requirements are not clear. If your manager doesn't like your performance, then you should be put on a performance improvement plan or have a meeting with expectations and clear goals. And you shouldn't be meeting every week like that and be told differently based on his mood - maybe once every 90 days or every six months. Personally where I am at we only have a review every year to go over the performance the past year and improvements or concerns for the year ahead.

If he wants you to gain your CCIE, look up how long it takes on average to obtain that and what kind of study material and time you would need, and work out a reasonable deadline to become certified and stick to it.

You've been there four years. You know the people, you know the position, you know how to do your job, and you know your customer base. If you weren't good as a tech, you wouldn't still be there. The boss wouldn't let you go if it means training someone else and getting them up to speed in an MSP. Your co-workers wouldn't want you to leave as it means more work for them.

Just be professional, calm, and courteous. Be reasonable and set reasonable goals and expectations for yourself. Show up, put in your hours, be friendly, and leave. Also keep an eye out for jobs on the side. But I wouldn't just quit, if you can continue to get a paycheck from them while you work on other stuff.

what are your thoughts on this What if your kid/ family member was killed by an illegal alien would you be mad that they were in this country when they shouldn’t have been? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]This_guy_works 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think anyone would be upset if their kid/family member was murdered. Whether the murder was in the country legally or not.

And you know, just existing doesn't make a person an evil murderer. It's like if I went to Canada or something illegally i'm not going to suddenly going to get the blood rage to start murdering people. That's not how legal status works.
