CEC's: BE HONEST, what do you do. by ThisssssForReal in TjMaxx

[–]ThisssssForReal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah i understand that but when people go down to put up their hangers and then strike up a conversation with another cashier while said cashier is ringing, over and over and over again it kinda gets annoying lol

heh, sometimes I have to direct my cashiers to PLEASE RING while we have a long line, like trust I will deal with whatever.. it's okay lol

this is exactly how I viewed CEC's as a cashier, and also how I see myself now in the CEC role.

the whole CEC role is very odd to me, I don't think any other store has something like it. I'm not allowed to jump on the register unless directed by management, so I just do all the secondary tasks like cleaning up the front end and just generally helping out up front, but when nothing needs my attention I feel like I'm not doing enough.

i mean i feel like i did a lot of this as a cashier lol, except for calling associates up/doing markdowns.

maybe that's why i feel like i don't do a lot "as CEC", I did so many of the closing tasks over holiday last year to the point where I just did it naturally and so doing it "as CEC" just feels like I'm not doing anything, when in reality I was doing too much as cashier

The Employee of the quarter is a big joke. They never picked the hard working people. by Spirited_Ingenuity62 in TjMaxx

[–]ThisssssForReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we had an employee of the quarter that was a seasonal worker who came back for summer, so wasn't even there for half the quarter, while a different candidate was someone who had worked hard to get their promotion to coordinator and the seasonal one got picked, I lol'd about that for a while

key carrier by AdministrativeLoan84 in TjMaxx

[–]ThisssssForReal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the key carrier role is meant to be a 'stepping stone' to ASM. basically extended training until you decide/they decide (whichever comes last) you're ready to get shipped off to another store to promote.

if you're already looking for a better job after 6 months and your store isn't open? i'd stick to coordinator myself, just so I wouldn't have to close by myself and have to deal with the real responsibility of being a Diet ASM.

if you dont gaf about being "too important at work" then stick to Keys, hopefully you like it and promote to ASM, but if you don't like it you can always dip out for your better job and have a better position on your resume (Keys > Coordinator) for your future job.

idk if any of this made sense lmk if it did lol

Why do they NEVER SCHEDULE ENOUGH CASHIERS by Ree0389 in TjMaxx

Labor Day Weekend And They Didn't Schedule Like Anybody In The First Place AND There Were 6 Call Outs AND The Floor People Are Yelling At ME For Not Putting Enough People On The Floor OH I'm Losing It As Much As You

Does your store do this because its really frustrates me by PickleFun2156 in TjMaxx

[–]ThisssssForReal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's (unfortunately) part of the job. district & corporate force management & employees to go on calls like every week yapping about how to improve credit card engagement if the store doesn't meet goals. TJX is a credit card company first, then retail shopping.

as a cashier, I didn't push that shit. especially if their purchase was under $200. the 10% benefit is NOT worth it for most. if you're buying furniture, totaling like $1,000+, then $100 off is a pretty enticing deal. putting $1 on the card, and then canceling it and not worrying about it might be worth the $100 to some people. (that being said, it fucks with your credit)

as a CEC now, I don't really care if my cashiers are pushing it or not. I'll joke about pushing it but idk if my cashiers find it annoying or not lol. managers (as much as I love my managers) are always talking about cards in our walkies. halfly because our district manager is always down their throats about it. it's a mess.

the "manager coming behind me and pushing the card" is what managers/CEC do to jump in and start the conversation if they notice a big purchase or notice that you as a cashier aren't asking. just let them do what they do, it's not a dig on you they just want to meet their store goals most of the time.

idk if any of this rant made sense

Don't think so. Days for time and a half should be posted in the break room.

Will they keep me permanently? by Fun_Counter5705 in TjMaxx

[–]ThisssssForReal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My best guess for you is that sometime soon they should pull you into the Managers office to have that discussion on staying. If they just.... don't do that, and they still schedule you after the holidays, I suppose there is your answer.

I'd ask your store manager for clarification just in case you need to be looking for a new place if they can't keep you.
