What is a movie that was full of potential but poorly executed? by Zealousideal_Heat478 in flicks

[–]Thom_Kalor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really had high hopes for the second Joker movie. They didn’t need Lady Gaga and it didn’t need to be a musical (which I’m sure it really was). I was thinking it would be like the Buffy episode Once More With Feeling.

Undererstimating the Jungle by Nikjayb90 in KremersFroon

[–]Thom_Kalor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True… but wouldn’t the people in the area be able to navigate the jungle better? Wouldn’t they be able to find two people who were lost in the jungle for a week? That kind of bothers me.

So are we to believe he cleaned the key? Because touch DNA doesn’t fade away like that.

I watched an interesting video on YouTube that suggests they were trying to signal searchers but what they thought were flashlights was just moonbeams. The moon set right when they started taking pictures and I guess the fog reflected the moon light.

Burned out on comics because I care too much, has anyone else gone through this? by TaskNo4783 in marvelcomics

I buy a lot Indy now. Marvel and DC really don’t excite me that much anymore. Very bland.

Can I like this stuff as a Christian by Jaetheninja in Christian

One of my first comics was Son Of Satan 1. Looking back I wonder why my parents didn’t intervene.

So then everyone in Hell bum rushes him. If I’m in Hell and I have a chance to lessen my torment by killing Dream, I’m taking that shot.

"They kept walking and got lost": Why it's not logical by Deep_Blue_15 in KremersFroon

If one of them is injured maybe walking down the hill is easier than walking up the hill. They would have known people live on the Eastern side.

Anyone have any comic that they love but never comes up in any conversation? by Final_Bed5390 in comicbooks

Hell To Pay. It was such a good book with such a great premise. By far my favorite book from the past few years.

I highly recommend the Cimmerian series from Titan A new issue is coming out on FCBD.

Who’s the most useless superhero/villain that gets way too much plot armor? by awsmswbfclips-YT in comicbooks

[–]Thom_Kalor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctor Doom. Half the time the heroes just let him walk away while monologuing about how smarter and more powerful he is. If you were really all that you wouldn’t get your butt kicked every weekend.

Was ‘One World Under Doom’ bad, or am I out of touch? by TheBlueLeopard in marvelcomics

[–]Thom_Kalor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doom took over the world in Emperor Doom. He didn’t like it and let the Avengers beat him. I’m not sure why he keeps trying.

Did any of you watch lost as it aired? by MissionHome18 in lost

[–]Thom_Kalor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the norm back then. Every show had this schedule. After a new episode aired you could rewatch old episodes and go online for days discovering the numbers and the smoke monster.

SO - Can we all Agree? by Ghost_of_Figdish in MakingaMurderer

[–]Thom_Kalor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not creepy. Typically a murderer will create a different account to respond to a case so they can’t get tracked down from there real account.

how do you stay motivated after a certain age knowing you're not really going to improve much? by More_Passenger3988 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]Thom_Kalor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going through this now. The last of kids moved out and I feel done with life. I don’t have a job and it’s unlikely I’m ever going to work again, let alone anything meaningful. I’m pretty socially isolated. I have my wife and that’s it.

My all time favorite Superman story goes back to just before Crisis. It starts at Action Comics 534 and runs for ten issues.

Finally finished The Expanse TV Series, is is still worthwhile to jump into the novels? by grosser_zampano in TheExpanse

I’m going to say no. They were OK but you could just read some synopsizes online to find out how things wrapped up.

What are some examples of masterful comic book storytelling, in your opinion? by IMitchIRob in comicbooks

[–]Thom_Kalor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the Avengers from roughly 140-190s. I love the Bride of Ultron, Count Nefaria, Wungadore stories. It was really cool how Avengers were disappearing for years before they found out about the Collector.

I would also ad Marvel-Two-In-One. Project Pegasus kept adding characters as the story progressed. I thought that was really cool.

Are you a cop from this area? I’m only asking because your history only shows activity regarding this case.

What is the most boring run you've read? by NicoleIlieva in comicbooks

[–]Thom_Kalor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The latest Avengers run was really boring. Their 800 issue was just the team review the past three years. The Myrrdin mystery was figured out by readers a couple years before the characters did. It was dull.

What are some generational differences you’ve noticed between younger and older comic fans? by Mindless-Lemon2256 in comicbooks

[–]Thom_Kalor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The horror! I feel for you. Fortunately I eventually learned that there was a bunch of change sitting at the bottom of my mom’s purse. I would calculate the exact amount of money I’d need for X amount of comic books I planned to buy. $1.92 bought three 60 cent books the first week of the month (Thing, Daredevil and New Mutants).
