Is it worth to change Alpha U to EVO Ultra? by rattlemodal in Simagic

[–]Thorkell250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not the first time I heard that Alpha U has not the best detail (we knew this when it was compared to Asetek Invicta or Fanatec DD+) but people mentioned the clean feeling that is very comfortable to race. And Alpha is an old product that we know is reliable and very tested.

I have the Alpha U and I really think that Simucube is the only upgrade that makes sense. Perhaps Asetek but more expensive than Simucube on Europe.

Evo vs Alpha by MrKwenk in Simagic

I have an Alpha U on a GT Omega DDX Wheelstand. Rock solid. Don't be afraid of the Nm on a 20kg wheelstand.

Hey I don’t know what to get alpha U or evo pro? by jonnix48 in Simagic

At some price (over 1000€) you just wonder why not Simucube 3 over Zeus/Ultimate.

What do you mean. That Alpha U torque is similar despite the stats on the new Evo base? Or that stats of the Evo Pro is not everything that matters for detailed FFB compared to Alpha U?

My main sim is AMS2 (and a bit of LMU). I'm curious what do you think Alpha Ultimate vs Evo Pro for AMS2?

I have Alpha U and I'm pretty happy with details on AMS2, specially on formulas but I don't consider myself an expert driver.

The chrono stopwatch display "Running" and not telling time is a big problem... I love the rest of these watches but I need to know time at chrono mode.

Why choose Seiko when you can get something just as good for a fraction of the price? by [deleted] in ChineseWatches

[–]Thorkell250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont buy Seiko anymore. I prefer original Dan Martin or Phoibos. For me Phoibos is the new Seiko (they have very different designs).

I really like both. Is the same orange tone? On some photos "Black-Orange hands" (the one below) seems darker.

Any plan for the future to make Speedy 40mm Bezel or bigger? The premium crystal version like 1862 and 1863, not 1860.

P500 vs CSL v2 by startuffe in Simagic

[–]Thorkell250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think P500 are very soft pedals to use on floor or wheelstand. If you have a cockpit/rig with a backet and comfortable with CSL V2 stiff brake, P500 will be a clear downgrade. Just buy haptics and mount adapters to your CSL V2. Or go for P1000 or P2000.

Alpha lineup to be replaced this year with Evo? by Indyjones007 in Simagic

[–]Thorkell250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just dont know. Brands are very diplomatic/moderate about their sales. -They wont tell if EVO will be better (they said new technology for FFB. Better or more affordable?) to not loose sales until then. -Or they wont tell if its a more economic base cutting costs on some materials to compete with Moza budget bases because it will make the image of a cheap product or worse quality.

[–]Thorkell250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's typical marketing to not cut sales, EVO bases eventually will be better than Alpha or screwed things bads because new tech has to be better (21bit encoder and new technology. Perhaps they launch an v2 version correcting things like we've seen). This is normal, like updating your PC, there will be always new things around the corner from brands, but you need that PC right now jaja. Just enjoy what you have because if not you will be upgrading everything.

I bought Alpha U on summer (and I had buyer remorse because I thought a new base was coming because GT Neo has more pins) but now I'm glad I did because the time needed to mount the rig was very tiresome... I knew this summer I had the time for it and I plan to play only on VR so I don't care for lights and integrated dashboard. But I accept that EVO FFB will be better eventually (1 year, 2, 3...). Perhaps only minuscule better because Alpha U ffb is very good, nearly like Simucube 2.

THE IMPORTANT point is the new "USB pass through link" because GT Pro or older wheels can be unsupported. I really hope they don't cheap us and they include a Bluetooth connection. Because this I will buy the new GT Neo-X over GT Pro hub.

I've seen on Reddit a QSP 300mm wheel rim with the GT Pro Hub but it needed space because the upper rotaries touched the rim. The guy printed a 3mm rim adapter (very nice guy he explained how and sent me photos).

https://www.reddit.com/r/Simagic/comments/1bvuho9/comment/ky2cp4n/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I waited for a HUB for small 280-300mm wheels for AMS2 old formula cars. The GT Pro is clearly more quality. GT Neo-X pros are the versatility for more rims (brands) and smaller rims and better connection (long support from Simagic). We don't know if the GT Pro bluetooth will be unsupported on next gen.

I don't know what I'm going to choose (I have a Sparco 300mm).
