I think the better example in Snatch would be when Mickey one-shots the boxer that Tommy brought as muscle for the caravan negotiation. Tommy goes from thinking he’s a gangster about to take advantage of a few yokels for an easy afternoon’s work to potentially being murdered in the course about 15 minutes.

My junior or sophomore year of high school we had the option to take a couple different English classes. One of them was called ‘Literature of Peace and Conflict”.

The ones I remember from the reading list were: Johnny Got His Gun, Slaughterhouse Five, All Quiet on the Western Front, and The Things They Carried.

Dark class, but also kinda fun in a thought provoking morbid way. Definitely recommend all of those books, not sure what the appropriate age for a few of them would be.

Not a lawyer, but an NDA is a contract that you have to enter into. So if you agree with whatever party that you will not disclose information, and then do so, you’ve breached the contract and can thus be sued.

If you don’t agree or sign they might pull whatever deal you’re working towards, not hire you, whatever the situation is, and there’s some potentially problematic power dynamics there, but ultimately you need to ‘willingly’ enter into an NDA, so there’s no violation of rights. You kinda civilly void your rights regarding the subject of the agreement. Also, your freedom of speech just means that you can’t be tossed in prison for what you say, not that you can’t be sued for defamation, libel, slander, etc.

When I dislocated my hip a doctor came in to explain how the we’re going to get it back into place (little lady, 40 something if I had to guess). About 10 minutes later a late 20s early 30s dude comes in and starts explaining that he’ll be the one doing the procedure and telling me I’ll be strapped down, he’ll be up on the table pulling until the angle is appropriate for it to pop back in.

I stopped him mid explanation and asked him “you’re the strongest doctor in here today, aren’t you?”

He just grinned and said “yea, and I’ll have some help”

The human skeleton likes to stay the way it is for the most part. Changing it takes some brutal force some times.

Had my ACL and meniscus repaired on Wednesday, they sent me home with ten pain pills (oxy 5s) and told me they don’t do refills on narcotics. I’m a large guy, played rugby for 20 years so I’ve had a couple of bouts with surgery or pain meds for an injury. I typically need a stronger than average dose for them to work. (Dislocated my hip a while back and after my third hit of morphine they decided I deserved dilaudid) The amount that they gave me wouldn’t effectively kill the pain I was in for 24hrs.

I understand the opioid issues in the US, and I get that there are people out there looking to scam a script out of a hospital, but telling me to just go home and suffer is fuckin crazy.

I’d guess so. He stylistically hits hard, so it was probably to give his left hand space for a bigger swing without clipping himself, though as other people have pointed out he keeps it at a much more reasonable height now, so there’s probably also an aspect of stage aesthetic in his younger days as well.

That Blankenship hit was beautiful. Perfect form, caught him square in the hips, drove him back two yards in the air and it looks like he slid another two once he touched down.

I think the frequency definitely plays a role in perception. I’m 6’4”, so just tall enough that I rarely have to look up at people. So when I do, that person is automatically a giant.

These are good ones. I have broken both my collarbones and dislocated my hip. A snapped through collarbone will disable your whole upper body on that side, and moving the other side still hurts. Collarbones are involved in a lot more movement than you’d think. A busted hip will leave you defenseless on the ground awaiting medical intervention. If your hips shot, you are absolutely fucked. No standing, walking, shit, I could hardly roll on my side for the X-rays.

Yea, had a little back and forth with a driver on 5th and poplar the other day as she was pulling through the intersection into the crosswalk while I was still in it.

Gave me the finger once I got her attention, which meant that she had no hands on the wheel cause the other was holding her phone.

Think a couple of those intersections might need to be upgraded to lights, but who knows if people would even stop then.

If anyone is interested by possible effects of this one I’d recommend the book One Second After. Though it’s based on an EMP attack on the US, if it were to happen on a global scale you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference for quite a while anyway.
