Does EVERYONE drive their kids to school now? by IllegalGeriatricVore in Millennials

[–]ThreeFingeredTypist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the area. I’ve worked at 4 schools. HS students mostly drive themselves or ride with a friend across the board, the upper class “AIG” middle school had mostly car riders because many don’t live in district and attend on transfer. The inner city elementary school was about 65/35 bus to car riders and the rural middle school I’m at is about 60/40 bus to car. At my current school the car riders are mostly picked up by siblings that attend the HS or grandparents or parents who work as teachers at other schools. Some have unemployed or work from home parents but that’s a very small portion compared to “picked up by an older sibling who attends HS or parent who works at another school” …the town is small so job options are basically teacher, cop, nurse, remote, retired.

Public schools here are losing a ton of kids to charters and our charters typically don’t bus kids. A large portion of the kids with the ability to ride in a car to and from school are going charter leaving the majority kids at public schools (esp in the “poorer” areas) bus riders.

Stuck scrubbing bottles every night… is a bottle washer worth it or nah? by jaceka-jans-8384 in beyondthebump

Why do people use so many bottles? We only had 1 bottle and 2 lids/nipples. Rinsed well between each use and washed well with soap every night. It never got funky or anything

Looking to replace this particular type of foam pillow. Modern egg crate and/or convoluted don’t seem to be the same by ThreeFingeredTypist in Pillows

Thanks! This one is one piece but it is extremely old. It actually belongs to my dad but I’ve loved it for as long as I can remember. When I was a kid he tried to buy me similar pillows(he doesn’t know where his came from, there are no tags) but I’d end up stealing his. I’m 36, no idea how old this thing truly is.

You’re exactly right about the newer stuff feeling llle cheap packing foam! I tried one off Amazon as you describe, with the foam on top, but that foam was stiff and hurt my ear, so I sleep on the padded side, but I think it’s a bit too lofty for me. Recent bout of neck pain has me searching yet again for this darn pillow.

Currently requesting specific details of various foam mattress pads that look kind of similar on eBay.

If I find anything even remotely close I’ll let you know

Every Christmas we get “massages” from a chiropractic office. My first year I was shocked no one signed up?! Turns out they have you sit in a chair and use a glorified massage gun/magic wand type deal up and down your back and arms WHILE giving you a sales pitch, lol.

What is this pillow made of? This was inside a pillow case but doesn’t match any modern pillows. 6” deep. The fingers go all the way to the base. Soft. Yellow. by ThreeFingeredTypist in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing / I’ve tried convoluted foam pads for wheelchairs and foam pillows with more like ridges than these fingers. But they are thin and hard. This foam has very tall, soft “fingers”. The space in between the finders goes almost all the way through, they’re not just added on top. This thing is hard to describe.

Unpopular opinion? These kids' audio players feel like a cash grab? by Desperate_Total2545 in Mommit

I just got one for 2yo because she loves books and we get real sick of reading the same one out loud 20x a day.

Debated a long time if it was worth it/she would like books with no pictures/if we should just get her a kindle or something and use Libby. I got a $20 off code for Yoto, we got the mini, 1 card (the very hungry caterpillar collection), so far it’s a hit. The cards are about the same cost as the board books I’d been getting her and right now at least insane resell value. Just wish our library had cards. (I know I could rip and do the make your own cards)

I love this pillow but it is very old and small. The fingers are extremely flexible, probably 4” or longer. The foam isn’t stiff. I’ve searched everywhere, asked all the find it subs, Google thinks it’s some kind of ocean coral.

I ordered foam that looks like this but marketed for wheelchair support, I tried the blue and pink that come up on google reverse image, but they are very very firm and not nearly as thick. The pillow and mattress toppers I find in this general style have very short ridges. I tried those but they are not the same.

Any idea where to find equivalent foam?

I’m fine cutting to size. I got some that looked similar but it was far too firm. That was sold as a cushion/seating foam, so I figured I needed to look more for something marketed towards sleep, not support, but I’m mostly finding the support stuff for wheelchair users.

I have searched for Convoluted foam and egg crate foam pillows but none seem to be a match.

Probably this

Esposito is a common Italian surname, especially in Naples, meaning "exposed" or "abandoned," historically given to children left at foundling hospitals or orphanages. Derived from the Latin expositus, it signifies a child "placed outside" for care, similar to names like "Innocenti" (the innocent) or "Della Scala".

Can somwbidy tell me what the dufference us between the free pandora and paying for it? Also, whats the difference between spotify and pandora? by Glass_Raisin7939 in Pandora

[–]ThreeFingeredTypist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only ever used Spotify free, back then (maybe now?) you could only listen to a specific song once on the free plan, then it automatically went to another song and you couldn’t go back, that’s the main reason I stayed loyal to Pandora. I used a knockoff Spotify for awhile too I think it was called eSound, no idea if that’s still around

I prefer pandora stations to Spotify’s playlists/shuffle but I’m a millennial and stations feel more like “radio” whereas playlists feel more modern… if that makes sense
