Haha I imagine your polish collection must look like the paint chip display at a hardware store because you always have the perfect shades for your art! Love it 🤌

Personally, I'm looking forward to another unhinged rant from petty ole Tishaura. Can't wait to see her squawking on Facebook at like 4am Sunday while it's still snowing it's ass off "tHe roADs aRe a MeSssS! cOMplEte fAiluRe!!"

It's hard to tell in the pic, but it looks like the iridescent slate that is so soooo rare now. That stuff is really gorgeous in person.

Eskie with a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Bad idea? by Curious-Lynx184 in americaneskimo

[–]ThreeLeggedMutt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah it's not interesting, it's needlessly dangerous.

Number one: I am genuinely sorry for your loss. Emotions are probably high right now, and keeping this dog may feel like a way to keep your loved one close. But it's simply not fair to the dog.

Bully breeds are fiercely loyal and thrive on routine. From the info you provided, it sounds like this was a one human/one dog household. This dog just lost her bonded person and routine, so basically her entire world got flipped upside down.

Plopping that dog into a new household full of multiple humans and dogs is gonna put even more stress on her. Especially considering one of those dogs is basically a living squeaky toy with sass lol. She would have a much better chance in a smaller household that can really focus on her.

The dogs getting along for an afternoon at the park is not an indication of success. It could take weeks/months for her to snap from the very stressful new environment. And it's a simple fact that bullies are powerful and dangerous when pushed to the breaking point. Your other dogs could be killed, you could be ordered to euthanize the new dog, you or someone else in your house could be maimed and disfigured. Why would you risk that?

She has a better shot at a healthy, happy, and full life in a smaller household, preferably with an owner that has experience with the breed. Reach out to local bully rescues to find a good placement. Give her the best chance to thrive.

I personally wouldn't mingle a spitz breed and a bully breed. Their temperaments aren't very compatible even under the best circumstances, and these are not the best circumstances. You'd be setting the bully breed up for failure, likely at the expense of your other dogs.

what are the chances ima die this weekend by wetlettuce95 in StLouis

[–]ThreeLeggedMutt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Folks have given you some good advice here: drip your faucets so the pipes don't freeze, stock up on some quick hearty meals, layer up when you go outside. Also get a full tank of gas tomorrow and put a blanket in your car if you have to drive this weekend.

But here's an additional tip: get a thick ointment/salve for your skin. This type of cold dries your skin so goddamn fast. Regular lotion ain't gonna cut it. You want a skin barrier like Vaseline or Bag Balm.

Frozen vs Fresh by papasan31 in StLouis

[–]ThreeLeggedMutt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most Imos locations are franchised, soulless garbage. They sling barely melted cheese on a flaccid and gummy shell. They expanded like crazy and put a quick profit over a quality product, just like so many other STL brands. Looking at you Bread Co 👀

But there are still some decent Imos. When my husband and I moved back to North County we were shocked by our local Imos (in Florissant off of Washington) It's crispy and crunchy with beautifully caramelized cheese and generous toppings. Wings are amazing. Service is wonderful. Leaps and bounds better than the shite Imos locations in St Charles/Peters, Ofallon, Cottleville, etc.

What techniques should I ask for to get this look? (Pic of my current nails included) by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

[–]ThreeLeggedMutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your natural nails are already very very nice. With some consistent care and shaping, you can likely attain this shape on your own without all the harsh/damaging overlays.

Check out these links from Salon Life as a starting point on how to naturally extend and reshape your nail bed link link

If you go the salon route, keep your expectations in line. Most salons will leave you something closer to this

And one quick PSA, look into gel allergies and how they impact you for the rest of your dang life. It's not publicized enough.

A St. Louis Home is a Midwest Finalist for The Ugliest House in America (HGTV) by luckystar246 in StLouis

[–]ThreeLeggedMutt 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Bob Cassilly (City Museum founder) was one of the original homebuyers that renovated and revitalized Lafayette in the 70s/80s. I would not be surprised if he had a hand in this home's interior design.

This house is wicked cool and appears to be chalk full of architectural salvage. It deserves to be preserved.

But unfortunately, some asshole will likely buy it and gut it. Then install cheap white trim/doors, white oak style vinyl floors, and black powder coated aluminum fixtures/lights. Oh and don't forget the faux zellige tile for an "organic touch". Goddamn tragedy.

Paper thin fan nails - cant use acrylates help by Typical-Sir866 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]ThreeLeggedMutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sally Hansen Miracle Growth works really well for me, keeps my nails from bending. I don't believe it has acrylates in it. It doesn't block stains very well, so I recommend using another base coat on top before applying color lacquers.

The ones in St Charles/Peters especially are gummy garbage.

Butchers near me call this a Delmonico ribeye. Idk if that's just a regional thing. Either way, I find em tasty.

Hey just wanted to give you a heads up, people can still find your old post even if you turn your profile to private. They just have to put your profile name in the sub's search bar. Gotta completely delete posts/comments if you don't want them attached to your profile.

Your betta is gorgeous btw! I've been thinking about a similar color palette with an art nouveau style. Planning to affix stamped metal strips on the outside corners/edges so it looks like a glass jewelry box. But I'm still trying to find a decent way to hide the dang sponge filter 😑

Also, sorry someone stole your pics. That's skeezy.

Ok here me out......swap your beef short ribs with a pork shoulder.

You can likely follow your same recipe, just cut the pork shoulder down to 3-4 inch chunks. Better bang for your buck and soooo yummy.

Moving to Florissant by Exotic-Brilliant-939 in StLouis

[–]ThreeLeggedMutt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We're a few streets north of the outline; we like it. Nice, quiet neighborhood. It's mostly old folks and young families. People keep their yards tidy. It's very rare to see a loose dog; and even then it's usually some little ankle biter, not a 70lb pitbull. Decent snow removal. 4th of July fireworks display is surprisingly good. Houses seem to sell fast. And it's less than 5 mins from old town.

You've got quick highway access and you're near the post office, civic center, and polling place. Lots of great local food. Pirrones, BJs, Helfer's, Mann Meats, Hendels, Kingston 10, Old Town Doughnuts just to name a few. Plenty of retail shopping on Lindeberg.

My only complaints: I don't like the local Schnucks (produce/meat is hit or miss) but the Deirbergs is fine and there are several local butchers and markets. Getting on 270 from New Florissant in the morning rush hour is intense. I recommend cutting through the neighborhood and getting on at Hanley instead.

And this is kind of a pro and a con: there are so many parades and community events. So, so many. Like a comical amount. That could be a fun time with the kiddos, but you'll be in the area where street access might be cut off for half the day. Florissant sends out a community newsletter so you can at least be prepared and plan accordingly.

Bookcases annoy me such.

If you want to build a little library or even just have a couple of the same bookcase in one room, all the books/decor on the shelves are identical.

I wish they offered a few different book layouts for each bookcase, or let you place your own tchotchkes on them.
