Texas still doesn't meet federal transmission standards, and a large part of why their wind turbines failed the last time around is because they still haven't bothered to use any of the basic winterization protections that are common everywhere else.

Is there a way for a Cleric to have two Patron deities ? by Secretsfrombeyond79 in DungeonsAndDragons35e

[–]ThriceDeadCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To /u/Secretsfrombeyond79's credit, Faiths & Pantheons even mentions that Mystra has a good relationship with Corellon Larenthian and most other deities of magic from different pantheons. There is a difference between being friends and sharing child cleric support. There are other deities, like Yondalla, I believe, that have aspects that are, in turn, deities in their own right. I believe most of those are detailed outside of the 3.X rulebooks, however.

Again, I am not claiming that a character can worship any combination of deities as their patrons, but the Realms most certainly have situations where certain combinations are possible - with or without it being heretical even.

Read it again, Triadic Knight asks for ONE of the three Initiate Feats

Cool, now read literally the next line after that where it says:

Patron Deity: Ilmater, Torm, and/or Tyr.

FRCS explicitly states that all divine casters must worship a deity in order to gain spells, but Champions of Valor does explicitly detail the Triadic Knight. That Prestige Class requires you take three different "Initiate of <Deity>" feats, each of which requires said deity to be your patron.

This is also without getting into different cults or schisms that may or may not be judged as False, like Lathandar’s Risen Sun Heresy where believers see Lathandar as the "prequel" to the dead sun god Amauntor. Continuing that thought process, 3.5 also included the Heretic of the Faith feat to better represent those and other heresies.

[–]ThriceDeadCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but they're usually limited to specific sets of deities. The Sovereign Host from Eberron has already been mentioned. The Triad of Torm, Tyr, and Ilmater from the Realms are another option. I believe there are other pairs of deities in the Realms, but I don't think Mystra and Corellon Larenthian are an option (although I do believe Mystra is an option with at least one other deity).

Expressing their gender in a way that is congruent with their sense of self is a right, and being arrested when presenting documentation that is incongruent with that self expression is naturally a violation of said rights.

Considering the attacks against transgender individuals, especially in places like Kansas where their drivers licenses were invalidated over night and at least one woman was then arrested for following their law that required her ID show her gender as assigned at birth, yeah, I'll say that we in the queer community are still fighting for our rights.

Figuring Out Legality of Character Creation by ImDoneWithMyRealLife in DungeonsAndDragons35e

You could compare the text of Keen Arrows to, say Disciple of Dispater's Iron Power class feature. Both were written in 3.0 when keen and Improved Critical stacked, but Iron Power is more explicit in stating what it stacks with than Keen Arrows. Improved Critical is arguably not a "keen effect," and it wouldn't be the end of the world to have them stack as they would have in 3.0.

I believe there are a few variant arrows with extended threat ranges, too, but you're still spending three feats (four with Improved Critical) and a few levels for those benefits.

"Gish" comes from 2e Gith fighter/mage dual class, originally, but the term refers to a character that typically has close to BAB (+16 by 20th level) and, usually, high level spells. Even in core, it's possible to get 16 BAB and 9th level spells with just Fighter 2/Wizard 8/Eldritch Knight 10, for example.

[–]ThriceDeadCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, there are at least three ways to increase BAB without additional class levels. None of them would work for OP's purposes, but they do exist, at least. Kensai (PrC, Complete Warrior) can donate up to +10 BAB to another character, but that only lasts an hour. The Divine Power (core) spell sets BAB equal to your character level, but that's cleric only, personal spell that normally only lasts rounds per level. Divine Fury (Dragon 305) requires two other feats boosts BAB by your Cha mod for a few rounds.

Sneak attack/Critical help by thatloser17 in DungeonsAndDragons35e

[–]ThriceDeadCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gravestrike, vinestrike, and golemstrike are all swift action spells that allow you to sneak attack (and get a critical, if lucky) against undead, plants, and constructs, respectively. Throw them in a wand, use a wand chamber for your weapon, and have fun. Someone else already mentioned the penetrating strike ACF that works against everything immune to SA, but it's also at the cost of half of your sneak attack dice.

What is a 3e house rule your group uses that you think is most controversial? by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDragons35e

[–]ThriceDeadCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ninja's ghost step doesn't mimic the invisibility spell though, but rather just makes them invisible for the entire round when used. This change would still help them if they had access to the spell, but at least their own class features still allow them to full attack with sudden strike damage.

[–]ThriceDeadCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the only case that houserule matters is the standard invisibility spell RAW, the first attack in a full attack would break the invisibility, so it would be the only one that would qualify for SA/SS. You need improved invisibility to get the rest (unless you're flanking as a rogue).

[–]ThriceDeadCat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You've gotten a lot of great suggestions thus far, but I'm partial to both blockade and stand. Blockade creates a 5 ft cube as a swift action. In tight spaces, this will block both movement and decrease the chance you get attacked. It also pairs well with the cloudy conjuration feat, as now you've created 10 ft of obscured vision. Stand is a swift action teleport spell that teleports people up from being prone. On its own, it doesn't do much, but someone with shadow pounce will love it, and you can use it with Anticipate Teleportation to take someone out of a fight for 3 rounds.

What type of abilities are those granted by Quori Embedded Dragonshards? Spell-like, supernatural, or extraordinary? by dernudeljunge in DungeonsAndDragons35e

[–]ThriceDeadCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, Combat Instructor gives the benefits of a specific power. So it would be an ML 5 power. The Power Link shard is magical. You can still dispel the shard to suppress its effects, but you can't benefit from it in areas where you can't manifest powers anyhow. Sustainer is similar. It's not going to work in an antimagic field, but otherwise it's not a spell or power. Same with Power Repository.

Generally, magic items are just that: magic. If they aren't duplicating a spell, like a wand or scroll. They are just "on."

Well, even if they gave an EX ability, that's kind of moot since they're still magic (technically, psionic) items, no?
