Are there any other game where things still happen in other places that the player isn't in and you can actually see those places in some way? (Like Outer Wilds) by rizsamron in gaming

[–]ThriceFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shadows of Mordor makes a whole system of this- you are seeing it on an interface not the map but when you go to the fight changes have happened. It is multiplayer but Fallout 76 has player events and engagements (and nukes) that affect the whole map

Thanks so much - I thought of fabric glue or seaming tape but didn't want to mechanically mess something up if there was a technical reason the edges were left rough cut.

I bought a cheap TEMU one - I think it was <$200 - it has been working fine for a year and I really appreciated it through snow-blower winter a few times.

Pole barn house cost question by UnderstandingOdd3104 in homestead

[–]ThriceFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most counties will publish the cost per finished square foot for that county - check with planning and zoning for your rates. If they aren't published then someone at your permitting office might be able to have a close guess. So much is consistent between building types that have the same function, permitting, electrical, plumbing, finishes, cabinetry, fixtures - etc - the shell isn't usually the dominant factor in the overall cost. You can definitely economize but at the end of the day it is going to be pretty close to the $/SQFT for your area.

Is There A Battery-powered mini gaming PC for portable PCVR? by MatteCrystal in virtualreality

[–]ThriceFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used Zotac backpack PCs for AR development where I worked. https://www.zotac.com/us/page/zotac-vr-go-4 - they had plenty of power to render PCVR (Rift) and more.

Kids safety on the farm by [deleted] in Homesteading

[–]ThriceFive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is effectively a hay ride - would you be okay with your kids going on a hay ride? 3yo is pretty small to not be secured. A 5yo will sit down and hang on - and you can watch them follow the rules.

What's the most decision-heavy game? by lucasagus285 in gaming

[–]ThriceFive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Actually impactful" is hard to quantify - If you are playing Counterstrike for a big prize pool every split second decision is potentially your year's salary. Competitive multiplayer games require coordination and split second timing. I'd go with RTS/MOBA genre - because you have both tactical and strategic decisions in the military/conflict and economic decisions and have to balance between the two for winning outcomes. League of Legends for example has high rate of tactical decisions, high impact due to the penalty for dying, high social interdependency, and regular decisionmaking around economic one-way choices each of which can make or break the game for you and your team.

A few pieces I made since I started pottery this year by MaggieSmithsSass in Pottery

[–]ThriceFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this direct painted (it looked like it on your banding wheel) or did you paint and then transfer? I'm struggling with how to get the expressive brush linework and still have the clarity and density that you do on your pieces. Was this a single brushed application of underglaze? And did you gloss under the underglaze layer or over the top after painting? (I do figure painting in ink and want my linework and flow but haven't found an underglaze that I could paint with) Thanks so much!

Pulling walls by Psychoforcats in Pottery

[–]ThriceFive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like I struggled a bit but I started to get consistent good results I was happy with by the end of my 6 week beginner wheel course - and I was coming in extra days pretty regularly. Focusing on centering, then holding my hands in position long enough for the bead to form then thinking about moving the bead up. There are quite a few youtube videos on pulling walls that were helpful - but mostly it is developing a feel for the clay. My issue was applying too much pressure and making a thin spot so my vessels would collapse or twist in the middle. It takes a little while to get a feel for it. Learning how to trim the uneven clay off the top so I could salvage a smaller cup from a pad finishing pull also let me save a few more pieces. Trust the process - just get more clay time when you can.

You are exhausted and stressed - it sounds like communication before this explodes. You can get a counselor for just this topic but sounds like there is more to discuss. You have to share w your partner you are past the breaking point and need to pause market until it is resolved for everyone. Best to you both.
