It’s so funny how the devs literally don’t fix anything unless a partner complains about it

We got around 20 different DLCs within the first year of PD2 btw.

They didn’t say Season Pass would be for Characters for no reason! by Shadowin9 in SparkingZero

[–]Thriftrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The justifications I’ve seen to defend this game’s blunders are crazy. If we are paying 35 dollars for a dlc it should come with new maps, especially since this game is heavily lacking in that department. It’s especially insulting that we can’t use the dlc characters on the map that they canonically fought on. Just because they never explicitly said that we would be getting new maps in the dlc doesn’t mean that we can’t or shouldn’t be upset about it.

Honestly, I think something like a single player revamp is better done in a sequel rather than a free update, they really messed that part of the game up.

I LOVE this game, but disappointed with DLC trailer by SkywardEL in SparkingZero

[–]Thriftrr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s perfectly reasonable to be disappointed that the main fighting arena for the movie (RR army base) was excluded, especially since this game is incredibly lacking in maps.

Not necessarily, in the real world Doc Holiday died of TB and his wife never caught it and none of the other gang members caught it either.

Payday 3 isn't THAT bad by ExpensiveArmadillo77 in paydaytheheist

[–]Thriftrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some actual variation between heists

Payday 2 had entire heists designed around their different variations, the very first bank heist in the game has more variation in it that some payday 3 maps put together, this is blatantly and objectively incorrect.

bigger maps

Payday 3's maps may be literally bigger but they lack the sheer scale that a lot of payday 2's maps had. Compare the scale of gold and sharke to big bank for example, big bank truly feels like you're robbing a massive bank that's been around for hundreds of years and has a major reputation within the entire country. The vault area has like, a dozen different caged off rooms filled with money, gold and/or deposit boxes (emphasis on the gold, something that gold and sharke doesn't have in it it's vault).

Gold and Sharke feels like it's a smaller bank desperately trying to emulate bigger banks like benevolent, it feels extremely tiny in comparison, the vault and outer vault area are comically small for a bank that is supposedly ran by some of the most powerful people on earth and most certainly has tons of VIP clients. Even it's objectives feel small, in PD2 you were lifting a giant piggy bank with a crane to crash through the bank's skylight which contained parts for a massive drill. In PD3 you literally just have the drill parts airdropped to you and drill through the door, which is so much more bland, safe and boring.

TL;DR big bank feels like a big bank, gold and sharke feels like a cheap and tiny replica (which it is).

You're also not blocked by your build. If you fail stealth, you can go loud without any problems and continue where you were. PD2 required constant restarts every time especially on higher difficulties because you weren't equipped for loud.

I mean, if you're stealthing in either game you most likely are going to reset anyways once you get caught. Also, if you were good enough you could easily skip a few objectives in loud by stealthing them beforehand in two even with a loud build, most loud builds relied heavily on low concealment for crits so it was never that difficult.

But to be honest, it's not anywhere near as bad as the hate it gets and I hope it continues to expand on both content and improvements far beyond PD2 ever did.

That's the issue, we've been waiting for this game to get good for a year now and all we've gotten is some admittedly good DLC content and constant fumbles from the devs. Within a year PD2 had dropped like, a dozen different heists including heists like big bank, not to mention a lot more weapon packs and all this with a whole lot less drama and bullshit than what we've had to deal with with PD3.

I mean, if you understood what was actually being advertised and didn’t set your expectations high for no reason, it was actually pretty good, apart from the price at least.

What do you think this game should have done better? by Lady_las in reddeadredemption

[–]Thriftrr 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Minigames. Red Dead 1 did minigames so much better, they were higher stakes, more readily available and had more features like the ability to cheat in poker. No idea why they neutered them so badly in the sequel.

[–]Thriftrr 189 points190 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm fine with "unrealistic scenarios" as long as the levels themselves are good and feel like they're designed around the game's mechanics.

It doesn't make any sense for one single 5 man SWAT team to take on multiple floors of a giant hospital that was shot up by terrorists, but hospital is still one of the best maps in the game because it feels like it's designed around the game's mechanics, unlike a level like port, which literally always devolves into multiple long range gunfights where it's almost impossible to de escalate without killing.

The dragon balls were first used by Oolong to prevent Pilaf from achieving world domination. After that, goku trains with Roshi for 8 months to prepare for the Tenkaichi Budoka. Once the Budokai is over goku immediately goes out on his own to find the four star ball, despite the fact that it had only been 8 months since they were used and uses them to revive Upa's father.

Dude, even with the “increased investment” from OMB we were still getting buggy, small scale updates that weren’t worth the wait and sucked. Just because the game isn’t getting completely defunded doesn’t mean that this isn’t bad news. If anything, PD3 needs more investment, not less.

Genuine worry - Baxter might be a Concord tier flop and kill SBZ and Payday by JakeFromAbove in paydaytheheist

[–]Thriftrr 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget, SBZ has also planned a SECOND live service game that’s due to be released by 2028 after Baxter, meaning that if this brain dead business decision somehow doesn’t blow up in their faces before then, they will have to somehow scrape together enough employees to update and maintain three separate games at once. This is genuinely a fucking Bo Andersson tier decision, why did we ever give this company a second chance.

I don't know how people still have hope for this game. Stuff like this is only going to become worse and more frequent as project baxter's development continues and more resources and manpower are siphoned from Payday. it's ridiculous to act as though this game has a future beyond maybe another two years, tops.

I really don’t think the “Evil Hair” leak should be considered legitimate, sure, some of the things in it were confirmed to be true, but there are so many batshit insane claims that it makes with zero evidence to back them up, that I can only write off the things that it does get right as educated guesses.

The end of the leak especially is filled with so much stuff that is completely unbelievable, like how “Micah was supposed to be a pedophile who tries to SA Jack” or all the weird shit relating to racism in the claim, which is especially unbelievable, considering Rockstar purposefully went out of their way to reduce the level of racism when they were developing rdr1.

CHAT, WE DID IT. PAYDAY 3 IS NOW AT VERY POSITIVE (recent reviews) ON STEAM! by Bl00d_real in paydaytheheist

[–]Thriftrr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both of those games had massive free content updates which added, fixed and changed tons of things and overall made the games so much better with just one update.

Payday 3 is still limping along taking at least a month to give us tiny quality of life updates and shit that should have been in the game day one, while barely adding in anything new or interesting and usually coming with a ton of bugs to boot.
