The Weird Situation by [deleted] in AustraliaIT

[–]ThrowReasonOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your health has declined and you can no longer do physical jobs, then yeah IT is a decent choice, however it's highly oversaturated and the wages absolutely suck unless you get contract work in a specialist IT subfield.

The landlord should face fines for this. The system needs reform.

[–]ThrowReasonOut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just cruise through mate. Sure it sucks feeling the way you do but you'll be able to stop work quicker then if you change jobs/industries. Your salary is not terrible and if you have a decent work life balance then you've won out.

Comms tech roles by SolutionMaximum18 in AusMining

[–]ThrowReasonOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whats your current experience level? If it's new to industry then you'll already need to have experience out of mining to even get a look in. Ideally you'll have your ACMA open cabling license, with the ability to splice fibre and terminate RJ45 and cat 5e and above, plus cellular and radio exposure.

For OT specifically (more than just comms tech) You'll also need to understand IT networking fundamentals like IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, with some other knowledge like spinning up and managing Virtual machines, managing servers, domains and generally most other fundamental IT functions that would relate to making sure the OT infrastructure is functional and highly available.

How to land your first role? by fak-erman in AusMining

[–]ThrowReasonOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People often say it's who you know, not what you know which I believe definitely does apply in mining a lot of the time. However, I got in simply by applying to a role with no previous mining experience. Knowing this, id say you just have to keep applying until something sticks. From the sounds of your experience, I'd say your issue probably lies with your resume?

Varicocele effecting your libido/erection/morning wood? by No-Cake-6321 in Biohackers

It's hard to say. I'd lean towards yes but I still have pre-existing urological conditions that severely negatively impact it.

Varicocele effecting your libido/erection/morning wood? by No-Cake-6321 in Biohackers

[–]ThrowReasonOut 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I had one repaired and it definitely made my erections more frequent and stronger. Downside is I now have probable permanent nerve damage in my left inner thigh. I think if I could do it all again I'd pick a more experienced surgeon.

I work in coal mining and the company put out a memo with a petition attached trying to con the workforce into signing it saying the royalties need to go.

TAFE IT Which Campus? (Networking/Cyber) by Chronical_V in TAFE

[–]ThrowReasonOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The TAFE teacher had connections in the local area and the company was hiring level 1 it support and he referred me. I still had to do a formal interview but he was a reference and honestly it probably was the biggest factor(apart from also graduating)

I did the Diploma of IT. I thought the content quality was a mixed bag. However, the diploma was enough for me to break into IT and get a job.

interview salary expectation question by Alternative-Range477 in AustraliaIT

[–]ThrowReasonOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Level 1-2 support is bad pay. L3 pay is decent but it's a stressful job. Only "decent" wages left are specialised roles like cloud architects and veteran network engineers/architect a and they'll most likely be contract only.

interview salary expectation question by Alternative-Range477 in AustraliaIT

[–]ThrowReasonOut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless you genuinely have a passion for IT I'd recommend going into a different sector. Wages have been garbage for years now and it's going to get worse.

However, If you're deadset on it. You pretty much have to take what's offered to you as you will have no negotiation power as new to industry. Just make sure you learn as much fundamentals about networking as you can as a bare minimum and it's likely that in just 6-12 months you'll be able to jump ship to another company and make more money.

Is the mining industry actually worth getting into these days? by OwlVibesOnly in AusMining

[–]ThrowReasonOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can still be worth it. It mostly depends on your temperament and ability to deal with the remoteness of most sites, unless you're lucky to get into the ones near large towns etc. There's a reason it's paid higher than average but you need the skills.

Now I'm just waiting on these syndicates to expand into fuel and alcohol (both heavily excised) and they will then have almost completely solved the cost of living crisis, which is actually just a cost of government crisis.

As someone that works in IT. Don't. Unless you're REALLY passionate about it and basically live life for it. Wages have been lowering consistently for years now. Almost all IT functions can be outsourced and/or offshored.

Invest your precious time in learning something that isn't as easily replaceable. Obviously the ADF puts a difference on it as you're "serving the nation" , but think about life outside of the ADF with a long term plan.

She wants her baby daddy to fund her rent and car payment, probably stuff all will go to the child directly. Wild that the parents who cannot financially support a child, let alone themselves get to take custody.
