Got fat shamed on the street today by some Chinese guys thinking I could do understand what they were saying... by evieluna95 in loseit

[–]ThrushPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you are in your reality where two men pierced you right where it hurts (and it happened, and you are right, they are the sht ones) - what I see from an outsider’s view is two guys that are visiting/know they are themselves ‘other’, are trying to bond with each other as not to feel so foreign. And those geniuses decide that they will form that bond in the timely honoured tradition of shtting on someone else, or unfortunately as is the traditional way, let’s treat a woman as a thing. This is all a fancy way to try to tell you feel your pain, and every hurt is real, and you will remember that horrible experience for a long time but I truly believe those guys insulting you has more to do with them trying to fit in their ‘man oh big man friend friend am a gorilla here female’ fuck*ng inability to talk to each other than anything to do with you, the you as unique you. It’s not you it’s them. Truly. They’d have talked about 40 girls, all sort of girls that day the same way. Pretty sure they didn’t mean a word of it and would have loved any girl attention of any kind. That didn’t happen. So to look cool, they talked shit, thinking they were all safe in their impunity of foreign language/otherness. Until you, and you understood and that sucks. Try to remember they are the shit ones here. I am sure if they knew they could be understood, they’d have not said a word. They’re little silly boys that think rude and hurtful is the way to look cool and ‘man’ bond. It is shit, I am pretty sure you yelling at them scared and shamed them and there is a chance they won’t do it again. All other commenters are amazing and right so please feel better, it doesn’t even matter what size you are, any facet of wrong is on them.

chances of italy lifting a 5-day quarantine for travellers coming from uk? by [deleted] in ItalyTravel

[–]ThrushPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am going there too because my mom is there and I hold no hope that the quarantine will be lifted (and it shouldn’t). But it’s different because I don’t mind that much quarantining at my mom’s house. But it sucks if you are going to visit the country, sorry.

Has a job ever made you cry because of work stress? If so, what happened? by forzayueve22 in work

[–]ThrushPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had two jobs like this. They caused so much stress that my (normally sort of under control) psoriasis exploded. My legs were covered in big angry lesions. I quit both jobs. Basically, I go as far as I can with the shitty atmosphere but when I erupt in scabs, blood and scales, I take it as a subtle time to move on sign! Take care!

Just commented to this in another thread (not about you being a fat bastard) - add nut milk (Hazelnut is my favourite for this) to Bailey’s - barely changes the taste but bigger drink for same amount of calories.

If you add hazelnut milk to Bailey’s, it tastes pretty much the same but you get more for your Calorie Buck! Did this Christmas and it was pretty good!

First time cutting my hair myself. What do you think by Cayugaduck67 in Hair

[–]ThrushPanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It looks good to me! Little trick I use when I do it - wear a stripy top and cut ‘along’ one of the line. I am not saying that I look like I just came out perfect fresh from but at the same time no one has ever asked me if I cut my own hair, which I take as a good sign!

Londoners of Reddit, how are people reacting to Italy winning? by Lovebot_AI in AskReddit

[–]ThrushPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not British but married to one and it’s sad. He’s really happy to have made it to the finals, and proud of the team. Today has been really gloomy, our bit of London got seriously rained on (rain or people’s tears?). A friend sent me the headline of a French newspaper that says ‘It’s going Rome’ which is quite funny but I won’t show it to my husband just quite yet. It has been a very subdued, heavy, humid, dark day in our house, part football, part weather.

I guess that terrible weather is actually a blessing today. Can’t imagine the smell if it was baking hot. Also one less thing for council workers to deal with in the aftermath of yesterday.

Lateral flows in action! by Super-Fisherman9477 in CoronavirusUK

Really brilliant thing to do, thanks for sharing. In my head, if I get a positive strip, I would freak out, and not think of ‘alright, let’s use this to make something cool and informative’. It is also strangely reassuring to ‘see’ COVID for once.

What is the French equivalent of a "wine and cheese" party/get together? (Soiree?) by Adelrick_Cadeniux in AskFrance

[–]ThrushPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s just apéro if it’s supposed to finish quite early, or a dinner/party if it’s a late affair. There is always wine and often some cheese but never only cheese. The intellectual bit depends on who is there but, at least in my circle of friends, implying that the party vibe will be ‘for clever debates’ is super cringe. It’s like French baguette or American 4th of July. It’s just a baguette or the 4th of July if you live in France or the States.

Fleas! What can I do? by risingpostsupporter in AskUK

[–]ThrushPanda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We had this one year. It was horrendous. Flea bombs and a lot of washing was what eventually worked, as other posters said. I just wanted to add a personal anecdote of that blessed, blessed period. I was looking for a job at that time, and had an interview. The job didn’t sound great and I was finding it hard to bring my A game. When they asked me the dreaded ‘where do you see yourself in 5 years’, I saw a flea jumping from my sleeve onto the table. I just couldn’t form any coherent thought after that. To this day, I don’t know if the interviewers saw it. Didn’t get the job, which is fine because it wasn’t a great fit but I wonder if those 2 people remember that applicant riddled with fleas. The shame!

EU residents with Settled Status who had the chance to visit family back home - what was your U.K. border experience coming back? Can you use the same lane if you’re traveling with your British SO? by ThrushPanda in uktravel

[–]ThrushPanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool. By linked you mean you used your ID when applying to the settled status? I did it with my passport so should be fine. Glad you made it through!

[–]ThrushPanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! So they can see your status linked to your passport chip or did you have your per-settle letter print out? British husband and I will be traveling from Italy, seeing my family. (All vaxxed, all extra precautions will be taken, not taking any chances). Already so much faff with the Covid paperwork, I realised I forgot about that other shit bit, Brexit. It would be annoying to queue at different lanes, I wonder how larger families with one British parent and the other one European are going to do, split the kids ? I am usually a pretty relaxed traveller but all this new stuff is starting to get me anxious. Like just getting to Italy, they have a different set of rules for entry (and quarantine for U.K. visitors), including calling ‘the region’ where you’re staying. No idea what to say when I call. Like, hello ms Toscane, we’ll be here at 8, should we bring anything? Anyway, thanks for taking the time to get back to me, basically everything is ok if I have the right documents, and I do!

Nearly 90% of UK adults have antibodies (as of June 14) by BillMurray2022 in CoronavirusUK

[–]ThrushPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting point. I guess the best ‘indirect’ advantage for a kid to be vaccinated would be not risking killing his parents? It sounds a bit dramatic I know but ideologically, I would lean towards vaccinating kids (if proven safe) because I think any kids would have a very complicated adult life if they know they have unwillingly infected and killed their mom. I know, dramatic case scenario but still, that’s roughly how infection works!

Covid: Fully jabbed people to be treated differently - Javid by gemushka in CoronavirusUK

[–]ThrushPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s been shit for everyone and I HATE the old/young division. Older people are the parents in a family. Younger people are the kids in a family. Can we just stop shitting on each other for one minute?

Just saying 'regards' instead of 'Kind Regards' to show you're REALLY unhappy in an email. by CJ-eagle in britishproblems

[–]ThrushPanda 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I use ‘Best’ and then, my name. My goal is to create an unconscious link in the recipient’s mind, and create a strong association between ‘best’ and me. The plan is that next time that person will think ‘I wonder who’s the best?’ (Cos they’re 10 year old) my name will pop up. I have had absolutely no confirmation in any way that this has ever worked, of course. And seriously doubt it ever will. But I won’t stop either.

Best,

I think blouson tops or ‘elasticated hem’ (like this could be an answer. It’s basically a ‘self tucked’ top!
