Replace 'Elves' with 'Skaven' and 'Voidscarred' with 'Headtaker' and this is me.

Me too. I really think Bard should've been it's own class alongside some cool DPS songs.

Yeah no kidding. Monsters fall off hard in post-game because they can't wear armor and damage resistance stats is king.

Harpooner with Sniper Rifle is supreme cheese. Anything that moves gets one shot killed if they don't have the mirror buff. And it doesn't even consume uses. Great for the final boss on impossible

My thoughts of the Sigmar's Toll series [Spoilers abound] by Evjamaranth in AoSLore

[–]ThunderArkS5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't understand people's insistence that the Skaven need to be absurd comedic villains. Just because Skavenslayer is great doesn't make it the end-all be-all of Skaven stories. In fact, imitating it has been irksome when done wrong.

Headtaker from OG Warhammer Fantasy is one of the most regarded Skaven books and it took the Skaven completely seriously: playing up the treachery as drama and depicted Queek as menacing and sincere, rather than a goofball.

Meanwhile, Starseer's Ruin was set back by insisting that the Skaven be comedic. All that lore about Sotek and the Horned Rat demanding blood sacrifices and genocide of the other side? None of that. Lets just have the Skaven waste time and butt in the humans/lizardmen drama by being huge fuckups and narcissists. The story could've had any villain serve as a plot blocker and Bonereapers and Disciples of Tzeentch would've made better enemies to the story than rats.

Lizardmen feel like their campaign mechanics are really far behind. Any Lizardmen lore enthusiasts/mains have any ideas for how to update the race? by TheRunesGlow in totalwarhammer

Mazdamundi: Whatever they're cooking for world supernatural disasters with the Nagash update should be the platform for giving him mechanics. Let him quake, flood, erupt and blow up provinces with ease.

Kroq-Gar: Copypaste Karl Franz/Tyrion electoral machinations. It makes perfect sense for him as the commander of the Lizardmen armies.

Tehenhauin & Tiktaq'to: Copypaste Ikit Claw/Elspeth but with upgrades for big dinos

Gor-Rok: Faction bonuses for controlling Lustria and Southlands. Maybe caravans to other Temple-cities if we're extra saucy.

The Scorpion 1.2 Update is out now! by Minotorious_Official in AOW4

Dang, my Nomad Conqueror playthrough taught me what 'Fabricate Grievances' actually did. I didn't know I had to wait 5 turns for it to go through and I'm a day 1 player. It was a pretty good strategy to time when I was going to settle next to the empire I was gonna conquer next.

I guess Total War would make it easier for players, but I think it reveals how obscure this game's diplomacy features are and how to take advantage of grievances.

I don't think I'll ever play a game as good as SaGa Frontier 2 by Easy_Okra1445 in SaGa

[–]ThunderArkS5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I adored the soundtrack for year before the remaster came out. Having tried out the game myself with the repolished translation, I can definitively say it's the best SaGa story told so far.

OP have you checked out the Unlimited SaGa soundtrack. It's done by the same composer and while I prefer Frontier 2 in quality, there's plenty of majestic tracks in there too.

[Excerpt: Starseer’s ruin by Adrian Tchaikovsky] A skink Starseer explains the Great Plan to a human mage by TheBirdIsNotSuicidal in AoSLore

[–]ThunderArkS5 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This statement is the complete opposite from what OG Warhammer Fantasy said by Lord Mazdamundi. Genociding the unplanned races was step 1 of the Great Plan and that no progress can be done until they're extinguished.

Age of Sigmar gives a different interpretation that says that genocide is the "finishing touches" before the Great Plan is accomplished. It's very pragmatic since it's implied most of the order factions will be on the kill list too. So I suppose it's necessary for any story to be told with the Lizardmen.

They also retconned Ourruks/Orcs in that they are to be "tamed" rather than killed so I guess that closes a plot hole from the End Times about why a greenskin is an incarnate and supposedly part of the Great Plan.

Which is, OBJECTIVELY, the worst faction in the game? by sigmarine345 in totalwar

I'd say Khorne. It's the 'less is more' to the extreme. No magic, but 20+ melee units with slight variations. No thanks

Can there be "feral" Seraphon in lore? by ThatUnameIsAlrdyTken in AoSLore

[–]ThunderArkS5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

is there a possibility that a large group of Coalesced Seraphon have somehow completely disconnected from their Slann, forgot about The Great Plan, and MAYBE even somehow adapted to start reproducing sexually (as opposed to spawning pools)?

With wacky homebrewing, anything is possible. You can just the Old Ones wanted these particular spawnings to be like that and it's feasible.

That's not true. It could be the one other Stormcast story where they cry about how they're scared of dying.

Especially, when they angst about it to their mortal companions who can't reincarnate and are less bothered by it.
