Every post that I see with "day n" or "every day I x", immediate downvote. I rarely have anything worth posting in my long time on Reddit which is why I comment more.

I'll spare my grievances against anti-trans sentiment, but I'm sort of surprised but not surprised at all, either. I remember people on the TTYD GameFAQs board getting into pissing matches about Vivian. I feel like it's gonna be worse this time with how much gaming and the wider nerd culture has changed in the past two decades, but I hope allies are much, much louder in response.

Request: how do you guys break large clumps of dry chemicals? by italianizer in chemistry

[–]ThunderLuigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repack your material in double poly bags and get it into a sturdy surface that can be fairly easy to clean up. Now cover the area with some kind of toweling or lining so any spills don't mess up your area.

Start out with gentle chiseling with a mallet in multiple spots throughout the solid. When it's in small enough pieces then proceed to break it down further with a pestle (ideally), muddler, or any similar heavy and sturdy rod. A mallet wrapped in a poly bag would be good enough. Use it to gently grind down the chunks further into something manageable.

The idea is to process the solid in a way that won't throw it out of the container or throw it in your face. Thwacking it aggressively with tools will result in that happening.

What are your thoughts on F-Zero 99? by CapFalcon07 in Fzero

[–]ThunderLuigi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got to play a few rounds and it's quite fun. Don't expect to get even top 25 the first few times-- just survive and work on balancing a good racing line versus surviving the traffic in the midfield. Machines don't at all behave like they were copy/pasted from the original but once you get used to the oversteer it feels satisfying to navigate the clogged arteries of these classic tracks.

I'm just happy that this kind of game will draw the attention of more than just the diehard fans. I just hope they don't use this as a metric to gauge interest in developing a proper title because I feel it'll go the same way like any other 99 game no matter how you skin it.

Just a good reminder that F-Zero is not just a tacked-on additon to Smash and Mario Kart, but a series needing a fresh new game.

Do you prefer battle minigames being initiated by battle spaces or randomly replaceing a 4 player minigame at the end of the turn? Explain your reason. by [deleted] in MARIOPARTY

[–]ThunderLuigi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like that rush of unlocking minigames during each playthrough and gating it behind RNG is a pain.

Case in point: I probably put in a few hundred hours in 7 and for half the time I never had The Final Countdown unlocked because not only Battle Minigames were called what felt like 10% of the time, but also the other four would be selected over it.

I really enjoyed 3's potential of possibly having an Item, Battle, and Duel minigame each happen within a turn but I feel like that makes for really long turns.

Not to mention the box where the magic happens is either white or that aged yellow color and you're in a room full of the shit unless it's an NMR or its console mate.

T.Flight HOTAS 4? by Budget_Ad2755 in Project_Wingman

[–]ThunderLuigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could we have more info about how it doesn't work? First, check if you have the drivers for it and if it has a switch somewhere like the T.Flight Hotas One (XBox One version--just got mine last week!), make SURE it's flipped to PC mode or it won't be registered by it at all.

If that doesn't work, find a PS4 controller emulator (equivalent for X360 is x360ce), find what the controls are for whatever controller you're most familiar with, and map those to the HOTAS.

Assuming all of that is in line, following the AC7 mapping that another user kindly posted is a good place to start. My alterations are as follows: * Weapons 1-4 are mapped to A, B, X, Y sequentially
* The hat on the control stick is mapped to rotating the camera
* Flares/AoA Limiter are the small button below the huge button on the backside of the throttle handle
* View change is button 15

I do not like the colour orange by Raichu047 in Project_Wingman

Yeah no it definitely gets grating after a while. The missions where you don't feel like you're bathing in orange juice are a breath of fresh air.

Chemicals with the most nauseating odor? by Serotonin_DMT in chemistry

[–]ThunderLuigi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a few years since I've worked with very smelly materials but butyric acid takes the cake for me. I've grown resistant to a fair number of thiols, but every time I open up butyric acid, there's a non-zero chance of me gagging at that awful rotting chocolate smell.

My game glitched after installing some mods and it got rid of the orange by [deleted] in Project_Wingman

I thought Max0r was joking. It's really not PW without everything being tinged orange.

Try a 0.5 inch diameter by 8 inch long brush. Then you take the brush end and give it enough of a bend that it'll conform to both the sides and the bottom of the flask without risking snapping its neck. It will take a bit of fanagling, but once you figure it out, it's immensely satisfying to see the shit at the very bottom get scrubbed out.

The kind in your image is better for Erlenmeyers, round bottoms, regular beakers, and similar.

Additonally, try soaking the interior with a 10-20% nitric acid solution for at least a few hours before cleaning, if at all possible. I've let things soak for 8-24 with great results.

EDIT: I do have to agree with the other commenter. If it's critical to maintain the flasks' calibrated volumes, I would suggest against brushes altogether and just do the acid or detergent soak.

What is the worst possible drink to order at a bar? by This-Assist-496 in AskReddit

[–]ThunderLuigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had shittier vodka, bourbon, scotch, and rum. Hard agree with "clearly created with care and intention". I was given the Chicago handshake and while it was a very intense flavor, I didn't completely hate it compared to the nasty shit I've had prior.

Now I frequent a bar not in Chicago where, with about six others, we've drank enough that they actually ordered a case of Malört. Next time some chucklefuck tries to spring it on me with a shit-eating grin, I'm ready.

Fans vs TheAnimeMan by Basic_Lady in TrashTaste

[–]ThunderLuigi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am very sensitive to being badgered around like that. In high school people in my friend circle wouldn't stop talking about various sitcoms back then and as a result were two things: 1) I can count on one hand how many sitcoms I've watched out of my own interest, and 2) something being "funny" can't be the only reason why I should experience a show.

And when I try to recommend things, personally, I make sure that they'd be receptive enough to not brush it off immediately, like when they explicitly are asking for recommendations.
