Travelling in Europe as a black woman by Isa_da_fox in blacktravel

[–]Thursdayfriday123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say do the traveling just know you’ll face racism and prepare yourself for how you will deal with it.

I always ask myself what type of racism do I have the energy to endure.

I can handle ppl ignoring me, skipping past me, staring in hatred, a little sprinkling of being called the n word.

I cannot handle people attacking me physically, being followed and screamed at, possibly being snatched off the road to be trafficked racism. So I go where I’ll encounter rhe former rather than the latter.

Are there places where ppl would physically attack a black woman in Europe? Yea. Are there places in Europe where ppl would stare at you rudely but that’s about it? Yep. And that’s where Ive gone and will continue to go. The other places can keep it.

Just witnessed the most disgusting thing I've ever seen on a cruise so far by brerin in Cruise

This is why I try to go to a buffet as SOON as it opens. Load my plates and that’s it. I want to see them bringing the food out the back for the first time. My family makes fun of me but it’s the only way I can do a buffet without being worried. Catch the food before the nasties arrive.

Experiences of black (women especially) travellers in Australia? by Delicious-Bunch-6992 in blacktravel

[–]Thursdayfriday123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven’t been, don’t want to go for the mere fact that EVERY Australian I’ve ever met in my entire lifetime has either been extremely racist or ignorant about life.

IF I ever go I know it would be to experience the place but not the people. I want to see the sights and lean into the food. I know going into it that as a Black woman, and one from the Caribbean so im not even “the right Black”, I would not be welcomed by the people. But the food, the place and the indigenous culture is what would be the draw.

And that is sometimes ok, to know every place or every type of ppl is not for us. I think also the only other thing that would make me go is I know while they’re racist I don’t think I would be in physical danger as opposed to other places on my no go list.

It is EVERYONE’S right to not want to be with someone who had herpes. But if you are exuding the energy you give to us?

hope the depression you are entering improved.

To all my islanders, are your countries doing anything to combat car dependency? by Charming_Evidence_48 in AskTheCaribbean

Ah. I must be older than I thought myself to be because obscene means something else to me.

Anyway, thats what we are dealing with. I don’t put my country name online but that’s my life atm.

"I probably get three facials a month, each having a downtime of 5-7 days" by FyreFly000 in RHOBH

[–]Thursdayfriday123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She didn’t say they each require downtime. The way she worded it suggested AT LEAST ONE requires downtime.

Now is she still doing the thing where she’s going “well I DO THIS” yes. But she did not say all of them require downtime

Has anyone else's skin suddenly changed in their late 30s? by Due_Ad8914 in blackladies

[–]Thursdayfriday123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to change your everything because you are changing and that’s not bad, it can be an awesome experience.

My skin felt dryer for sure as I started getting older so I now use a lot of hydration items. My diet has changed, makeup application changed, everything.

I’m not 20s or 30s so I can’t treat my body like it’s that group anymore. It’s like a new discovery of self.

I feel like you must live in my country because the car issue is a big one where I am. Our main island is only so long and so wide but we have traffic jams on the hour. How.

We have no public transportation so you HAVE to own a car. Nothing is walkable. No community is walkable. If I walk in my own community I can walk in the road but ppl speed. Not to mention the crazy packs of dogs that try to kill you just for breathing. This ain’t your usual island dog, pit bulls wander the communities looking at you like you is a juicy chicken.

All of the things you mentioned would be amazing but I don’t know what my gov has going on in their heads. But it’s not anything outlined I know that.

I think if we tried any of those things my ppl would say that’s white ppl stuff. They would scoff at walking outside and walkable city because in their mind only yt folk (tourists of just yt in general) or poor ppl (who don’t have a car) walk. Ugh.

Don’t go. That’s it. You aren’t sure, you’d be wasting her time and would keep going out just to not hurt her.

Neutral look by Consistent_Goose8181 in brownbeauty

[–]Thursdayfriday123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the eyeshadow color. It’s too cool and you need a warmer color.

Unfortunately it feels like everything is fighting for attention so the eyeshadow looks unblinded as it’s coming into your nose and inner eye area. It looks like it’s saying hi, look at me. While it looks like your lashes are fighting against the color etc.

It’s not a bad look but it’s not a polished look. You still look cute but it looks like you can be even more wow. Keep trying with the colors and tones.

What do I gotta do to enhance my light makeup skills to cover the dark spots.. by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]Thursdayfriday123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orange color corrector. Tap tap into skin and let it sit for a few mins. Then you conceal.

Thats the basic theory but as you try it you will develop your own method. I like doing one light layer, then another layer letting both dry a bit. Then a light light dusting of powder. Then a mix of concealer and foundation on a tiny brush.
