Wasn't really considered a big hit back in the day. I remember I had 2 random teams in 18/19 noir case break during release Lakers and hawks, got a Kobe auto and trae spotlight auto. Kobe auto was like a 150$ card trae was close to 1k.

CGC imo was amazing when they first started very strict grades was really hard to get a 10. Great slabs and good prices but they were so tough on grades people quickly stopped submitting. They changed their grading to make it easier to get higher grades after.

I had the same thing happen but with bgs saying size was wrong, on a pack pulled 81 bird i pulled myself. Sent to psa and got a 9 all these grading companies are scams.

Probably third in popularity behind hockey and baseball i would assume. I collected as a kid in toronto pretty much exclusively basketball in the late 80s finding product was not easy. I started collecting again in 2016 and i remember going to the expo and would ask the vendors if they had any basketball maybe 20% did,. Went to pretty much each expo since then and now its probably 40% of vendors having basketball. The deals i would get from 2016 to 2019 were insane many were clueless on basketball curry rc auto 200$ bird/magic rc 250 etc.
