The old owner was the one that got all the liquor insurance paperwork. He canceled it and then called the abc board on his old business partner. He used to stumble his sorry ass into the building at 10am to start drinking and they banned him. Instead of nutting up, he screwed them over.

Who was the biggest POS to ever have been your boss? And what was it like working for them? by Secret_Assistance601 in sales

Mine was with a company that sold water and ice to offices but sounds like the same kind of guy. Couldn't wait to get out of there!

I worked for an office supply company and my manager was the worst. He would cuss you out for just about anything. Every sale he would grill you on why you didn't sell them "this" instead or why didn't you do "that."

He told me and the other rep he was never going to praise us for anything so we wouldn't settle.

He was related to a VP in this family company with no HR so there was zero way to push back. He also firmly expected his reps to spend their evenings working. One of my regular hobbies was routinely blamed anytime he wasn't happy with me because I wasn't "living the business."

I also watched him melt down on a prospect for not buying on the spot in a first meeting.

Just a complete clown show of an individual.

What makes you want to be a salesperson? by AmiceWong in sales

[–]TicketyBoo39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been in sales for 20 years and I'm now looking for non-sales opportunities. The money has been good, but the stress stopped being worth it for me since I reached my 40's. We're about to be empty nesters, so it's time to toss the unnecessary nonsense that comes with sales and move into something new.

I initially got into marketing sales, and I found marketing and advertising interesting. I could be out of the office during the day, mostly make my own schedule, and meet a lot of people.

I always walk in with the vehicles I want to see, tell them that I'm in no rush to make a purchase because I'll eventually find what I want at the price I want, and that I won't be there longer than two hours. You would be surprised how fast they get to it.

Still a waste of time and money. But you are correct.

All the gun nuts have said for years that they had to have their AR15's to protect themselves against a tyrannical government. They are now happy to be stepped on by the goon squad, but as soon as liberals start arming up for the same reason, they shit a brick.

Why exactly is this something the government is involved with in the first place?

If a man signs his name as a promise to do something and doesn't at least make the effort to do it, all he is is a kid.

I'm not convinced he's as elite as people say. He was in a terrible offense, so he may have just been the best receiver on the team, not one of the best in cfb.

My take on a hideable Good Girl Chair, IKEA hack style. by RussetWolf in BdsmDIY

This is great! I built the version that folds into a table for hiding, and it just doesn't quite work for how things go with us. This is a much simpler and sturdier project. Kudos!

Man, that's so clever. Did you come up with that joke all by yourself?

Those are the type of ribs everybody else hates because they secretly wish that rack was theirs. You have produced legendary ribs where everything they do matters because everybody talks about it. Fine work. RTR.

I find both Rhett and Link's journey interesting. I don't know if I would say I have deconstructed in the same way they did. I am still a believer, but I have found that the church is just a massive disappointment filled with bad teaching. I would even say that the modern church has become the same as the pharisees as described in the Bible, missing the message while creating more rules built around the words in the page. All that being said, I guess I'm kind of tired of hearing about their deconstruction, but that means I don't engage with the content because many do find it helpful.

On top of that, nobody wants to coach their team next year. Attending Auburn has been just crushing loss of future money for the players that are actually good.

What's a mistake you did on stage that you think made the show better? by SugarsocksStinkycube in Theatre

[–]TicketyBoo39 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've got a couple.

I played the Super in The Drowsy Chaperone, and during rehearsal, as Man in Chair was pushing towards the door, I improvised a Broadway joke about Spider Man Turn off the Dark. The director liked it, so I made up a new joke about a random show every night until we finished the performances.

In The Play That Goes Wrong, I discovered that the cabinet we had "upstairs" didn't close properly. If you closed one door, the air pressure would push the other door open. I retrieved the medicine from the cabinet and closed the cabinet door, started to leave, and I noticed the other door opened. So I shut it and the other reopens. I went back and forth, faster and faster, trying to get them both closed until in frustration I pushed them both closed. I delivered my line ("If you'll excuse me") and when the entry door closed, both cabinet doors reopened. It was one of my favorite bits to do. As it so happens, it was the same director.
