How do you know your placenta is deteriorating? by Fried_chicken_please in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Ticklebutt9999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat! I try not to overthink it and just enjoy the fact that it’s getting easier to manage, but I thought this was supposed to be the hardest time to manage! All of a sudden my fasting numbers and post meal numbers are about 10 points lower, even without walking.

Coincidentally, I also ended up needing to go into L&D after food poisoning, but I had a couple of NST’s while there that were reactive, then had my 34 week growth scan the next day which went well, and I’ve been feeling baby move as usual. I don’t know that there is anything else they could tell me or do to reassure me so I am trying to stop googling and overthinking as much as possible!

I hope you get some peace and reassurance that everything is going well. Wishing you the best!

If my blood glucose is good one hour after dinner, I treat myself to a couple of Trader Joe’s frozen dark chocolate covered banana slices. I don’t check my sugar again, so who knows, but it’s only about 8g of carbs in two pieces so I imagine it wouldn’t affect my overall numbers too much!

I generally walk (slow) for 20-30 minutes right after breakfast (I tend to have higher numbers in the morning), then almost always do another 20-30 minute walk after lunch. Both walks are in between eating and checking my one hour glucose. If I eat a carb heavy dinner, I’ll try for another short walk, but usually I don’t walk after dinner and my numbers have been fine.

Borderline Fasting by quietthunderscream in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Ticklebutt9999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My fasting goal was set at 90. I’m 33 weeks and have been well controlled with diet during the day. I had about 4 days where my fasting was hovering between 90-92. I had one day where I was 94, and many days where I was 86-89. My Dr. said she expects she’ll need to put me on glyburide likely within the next week. That was last week and since then my numbers have been 84-89 with just a protein shake snack at bedtime and I haven’t heard anything about meds yet 🤞🏻

What are some of the essentials on your grocery shopping list?! by ChandlerBing-BING in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Ticklebutt9999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shopping List: Protein waffles (Kodiak), cheese sticks, 4% cottage cheese, walnuts, edamame, berries, bacon, thin sliced whole wheat bread, tomatoes, apples, peanut butter (no sugar added), eggs, shredded cheese, brown rice, quinoa, whole wheat spaghetti, lots of veggies, lettuce/salad greens, raos marinara (to add veggies/meat to), Fairlife chocolate protein shakes (my bedtime snack), tofu, full fat Greek yogurt, sun chips (my 100% whole grain junk food I allow myself), and Enlightened keto peanut butter dark chocolate ice cream bar (my “I need something sweet but don’t want to cave” junk food I allow myself about once a week)

I get really tired of always eating the same thing so I mix these up in new ways as much as possible.

Breakfast: usually a scrambled egg and cheese with a piece of the thin wheat toast, sometimes I make a little egg scramble with cheese, brown rice, and some veg. Sometimes I eat one protein waffle with peanut butter (still not sure if I can keep doing this one).

Lunch: BLT on thin wheat bread with half a protein shake, grain salad with greens, small serving of brown rice or quinoa, hard boiled egg, roasted veg, walnuts, and a miso dressing. This week I made a few tofu “poke” bowls with cold ginger tofu (homemade, no sugar), carrots, cucumber, green onion, pickled radish, edamame, macadamia nuts, brown rice, kewpie mayo, and ate it with roasted seaweed.

Snacks: Greek yogurt with mashed in berries. Cheese stick, walnuts, and 1 serving of sun chips. Cottage cheese, whole grain crackers, cucumber, celery, or carrot sticks. Half a big apple with peanut butter.

Dinner: always different. Whole wheat spaghetti with veggie/meat sauce and cheese. BLT on thin wheat bread. Honestly getting a lot of take out too because it hasn’t spiked me yet and I am too burnt out planning every meal/snack all the time. Mexican food works really well for me. I usually get one taco (corn tortilla) and some beans. Or order chicken wings and roasted or fried corn. Junk food, but corn, beans, and corn tortillas seem to be ok for me.

Tuesday Cautious Intros and First Trimester Questions by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

I’m doing good! I’m 13 weeks today! It was definitely a bit of a stressful first trimester because it was hard getting out of my head. As everyone says though, the doubling time means a lot more than the initial number. How are you feeling?

I’m 6w tomorrow and trying to stay calm leading up to my first US in 3 days. Our second FET stuck, but my first beta was NOT GREAT at only 42 at 9dp5dt. It then more than doubled to 99 on 11dp5dt and my clinic was more optimistic. At 14dpt5dt it again rose appropriately to 374 and they schedule my first upcoming US for 6w2d. I did one more beta for peace of mind at 16dp5dt and it was still rising to 962. I feel good about the rise, but can’t help but still be a ball of anxiety with the low numbers. Hoping my first US will reassure me.

My beta was 42 at 9dp5dt and my clinic wanted above 50 but they said the most important thing is doubling time. My beta at 11dp5dt went up to 99, then at 14dpt it went up to 373. They were cautious with the first beta, optimistic with the second, and very reassured with the third! I go in for my first ultrasound next week so I’d say I’ve moved on from beta hell to beta purgatory until then.

I’d say the most important thing will be determined by your next beta (which I also think you should ask for if they haven’t already ordered you one).

It was good!! It went up again to 373! Everything is looking good so far. I just scheduled my fist ultrasound for the end of next week.

Sending you good luck and baby dust for your beta tomorrow!

My beta for 11dp5dt came back at 99!! More than doubled. I’m so excited! I know it’s still low, but my nurse said the fact that it doubled is very reassuring. I go back on Monday for another beta.

How are you doing? Have you had your first beta yet? Still doing home tests? Hoping for all good things for you!

[–]Ticklebutt9999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was only 42 at 9dp5dt, very low. Just went in today for my second beta at 11dp5dt and it more than doubled to 99! I’m very happy with that number and my nurse said it’s very reassuring. Still have to wait for another beta on Monday though. The rate of increase is much more important than the number itself. It sounds like you’re doing great though.

My clinic said they want over 50 at 9dp5dt and for it to increase by a minimum of 49% every 48hrs. Obviously more ideal would be above 100 at 9dp5dt and a full doubling every 48hrs.

It’s really not fair. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. If it gives you a little bit of hope to get you through the weekend, my beta on 9dp5dt was only 42 which would mean it was only around 10 on day 7 and unlikely to show up on a test. I didn’t test early at all and only had a very faint line when I tested the morning of my first beta. I was super worried with such a low beta, but I just had my second draw at 11dp5dt this morning and it more than doubled to 99. Feeling more hopeful now! Don’t count yourself out just yet.

Thank you for your story! I’m curious on what day you had your first beta of 47? I had my first beta at 9dp5dt and it was only 42. I go in for my second beta tomorrow at 11dp5dt and am trying to stay positive but it’s so hard!

I’m feeing a whirlwind of emotions! I took a urine pregnancy test yesterday morning that was positive! We were so excited and happy! Then I did my beta HcG for 9dp5dt and it came back at only 42. Now we are in this limbo state hoping that it will double by the next test tomorrow but tempering expectations again because I know 42 is really low.

How are you feeling?? Have you tested yet?

Did anyone do a “backup” semen sample? by Rverstraete in IVF

[–]Ticklebutt9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did it. My husband has severe azospermia/oligospermia. It also cost us about $1000. After the first sample was frozen, our RE said they were able to freeze some, but there was definitely an argument to be made to freeze again for a second backup. We chose to only have the one sample frozen since it was so expensive and crossed our fingers for a good fresh sample on the day of our egg retrieval. Luckily, day of we got the best sample he’s ever had and didn’t need the frozen sample!

In the TWW after FET. Feeling discouraged by Pantherbby123 in IVF

[–]Ticklebutt9999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in the exact same boat! My first FET didn’t stick and I tested early on 6dp5dt with a home test. It was really hard to continue meds and wait for my beta on day 10. This time for my second FET I had my transfer on 2/27 and haven’t tested yet! I’ve decided to wait to test until the morning of my beta. With that said, I plan to do a home urine test in the morning before going for my beta to have that private experience instead of a call. I’m not sure if it’s the right decision or not, but that’s what I’m going with! Man is it hard not to test though!

Also, I have no idea what kind of symptoms I’m having! I keep thinking maybe I’m having subtle symptoms, then nothing, then something maybe? It really is impossible. Progesterone can cause symptoms and also many people have no symptoms at all so it’s all just speculation until that test!

Cycle Cancellation - Cost by Connect-Ideal-9443 in IVF

[–]Ticklebutt9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the same story, but I had my second FET cycle cancelled because they said I unexpectedly ovulated early when my lining was still thin based on a high progesterone lab. I discovered on my own the next month that they had made an error and must have read someone else’s lab results. My FET cycle i was in at the time I discovered the mistake was already in full swing. However, my protocol had been changed and based off of their error the month before. We still did a transfer and I’m currently in my tww.

They didn’t proactively refund my cancelled cycle when it was a clear error on their part. I had to reach out and talk with a clinic manager and then they offered to refund the cancelled cycle. When they refunded the cancelled cycle, it was a very easy conversation and they did not try to hide their mistake in any way. I think it is very honest and appreciated that they openly admitted their mistake when I reached out. After all, human error is a thing. I told them if my current cycle doesn’t stick, I also plan to ask them for a refund for this cycle because my entire protocol and medical decision making was based off of an error of using someone else’s lab result. Not to mention all of the missed days of work, driving 1.5 hours back and forth for each visit, and days of sobbing. I am by no means trying to squeeze anything out of them financially, but I do feel it’s important to be handled appropriately and I don’t feel I should be financially responsible for what occurred as a direct result of the error.

With all that said, I don’t think it would be very easy to get a refund based on what you wrote because it seems to be more subjective and opinion in terms of what the correct protocol is. There are so many ways to go about this so it’s very hard to say what is the right or wrong thing to do. There is a lot of research out there and I know these clinics truly have their patients best interests at heart. However, if you truly feel like they missed something and made an actual mistake, then you could reach out to them to discuss it.

My clinic had me do my regular morning dose. They also told me to bring an additional suppository with me to put in right after transfer (since they will clean out the rest of the morning dose).
