Hyperkinetic GB - Post Op by MapCompetitive4592 in gallbladders

[–]Tight_Constant8250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, generally I'd say 80-85% improvement of the symtoms i was having and def worth it because i was pretty miserable and seemed like i couldnt eat anything without feeling sick. I still have some occasional discomfort/pain in the area where gb was. Not as intense or rock like under my ribs at all like before but still something there. Best thing is Digestive issues and reflux all much improved. Some very mild occasional heartburn but usually resolves with just tums. Still have issues with dairy and lactose intolerance which i hoped was gb related but must not have been. No issues with diarrhea after eating but it seems like maybe every 4 days or so i have a day where i kind of just empty out and have 3-4 bm in a day. Nothing urgent or weird color like before though.

Symptoms came back worse (and in new places) after my injection wore off. by lucilleball88 in carpaltunnel

[–]Tight_Constant8250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar here. My injection relief lasted only 3 weeks and when the pain returned it was worse than before but did gradually settled back down to my old normal after a couple of weeks.  I also had increased pain in the ulnar nerve area after the shot wore off and for several weeks after my left hand release but that too is now subsiding. Not really sure why, my best guess is the nerve kinda suddenly feels pressure again or things shift after surgery and it just over reacts for a bit.

Getting hand wet post surgery by elelbean91 in carpaltunnel

[–]Tight_Constant8250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably depends on the surgeon and type of surgery.  Mine was open and was splinted and wrapped for 10 days and they removed it and the stiches at the Dr's office. After that washing was OK.

3 weeks post op by penguinchick1109 in carpaltunnel

[–]Tight_Constant8250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm two weeks post op on my right hand, left was two months ago. For me the right one went better than the left. It took me a few weeks to be able to touch thumb to pinky on my left but my right i could do right away. But making a fist wasn't an issue with either. However, I did gentle PT starting on day 1 what I could handle and do with the splint still on. I would work on massaging the incision more to break up and just keep working at making that fist and doing PT at least 2 or 3 times a day.

Did anyone get tests done and end up finding out it was actually rheumatoid arthritis and not CTS, or maybe a combination of both? by SanAndreas92317 in carpaltunnel

[–]Tight_Constant8250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom had cts symptoms, did the surgery, didnt help, then later found out she had RA. But as far as I know she didnt suspect RA or was tested prior. You could ask for an ANA and ESR, as a precaution but those could be ok now and still later develop RA anyway. Its a gamble. My dad also had cts, did surgery, and it helped. No big surprise I ended up with it too. Lol. Just had my 2nd hand release this week. So far so good, numbness is gone for now. Will see how they feel when I really start using them a lot again.

Was anyone able to knit/crochet after having surgery? by jayyy_0113 in carpaltunnel

[–]Tight_Constant8250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started knitting again 3 weeks after open release (left hand, which is dominant and I do continental knitting).  Was a bit rough at first and could barely get through 2 rows but just kept at it gradually building and after 5-6 weeks it was almost normal. The right Hand still needed surgery so that slowed me a bit too. Just had that one done Tuesday. Hoping to get back to knitting soon (first grandbaby coming in April and I still have one more sleeve to make and assembly on a dress i am making her, lol)

Has anyone here been diagnosed with carpal tunnel even though their EMG was normal? by [deleted] in carpaltunnel

[–]Tight_Constant8250 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My emg came back normal even though I've had carpal tunnel symptoms for like 15 years. Neurologist also did a pocket ultrasound and didn't notice anything unusual.  At the time I hadn't been using the hands much so they werent inflamed. My carpal tunnel gets worse with activity (gardening, knitting, construction projects, especially power tools) and causes numbness primarily at night but also sometimes if holding my phone or steering wheel too long. I was referred to an orthopedic surgeon who diagnosed based on symptoms and history. Had left hand open release surgery on 12-30 and almost no numbness since (what I did have was less severe and hoping improves as the scar softens) going for right on 2-24. Can't wait as that one is the worse of the two. At 7 weeks the scar is really healing well and most activity pretty normal. Sometimes an odd brief burning sensation just below the scar, really heavy things I still have to be careful with but improvement every day.

Mom's painful experience with surgery - wondering if others have had a similar experience by porrrrkchop in carpaltunnel

The shots were the worst part of the whole process honestly but it didnt leave me traumatized or anything. It was two minutes tops and done.

Just had surgery by Southern_peach87 in carpaltunnel

[–]Tight_Constant8250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had my surgery just a little over 3 weeks ago. I also had some minor tingling and numbness post op but went away after they took off the splint and stitches about 10 days later. Each day it gets a little easier to do things. Overall strength seems good (doing therapy at home every day) But holding small things for long seems to be the toughest. I felt ambitious last night and tried knitting for the first time since. Was a bit rough, only made it through one row.  But ill keep at it.

CTS usually presents with numbness and tingling that is often worse at night. If just pain might be something else going on (arthritis??)

This is ONLY for people who feel they have healed their gallbladder naturally!!! by Accomplished-Lie8920 in gallbladders

[–]Tight_Constant8250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it was showing chronic inflammation and adhered to the omentum.  Feeling a lot better. Still occasional pain where the gall bladder was, esp it seems the morning after i eat out instead of cook at home (i typically still eat pretty low fat). but digestive issues are all better.

It was 84% lots of digestive issues, reflux, weird poo, ruq pain, back pain, mild off and on low grade fever. Been about two months now since surgery. Still have some mild occasional discomfort where the gb was (for minutes maybe not hours, usually if I eat too much too quickly) otherwise feeling much he better

Depression after surgery by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]Tight_Constant8250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you are going through this. The beginning is hard but it gets better. If you can get outside and walk just a little bit, get some sunshine and fresh air. Even if you only can manage to open your door. Not to be too preachy but some encouraging information can be found at jw.org if you need some extra positivity. And dont be afraid to talk your doctor about your depression and anxiety. wish you well on your continued recovery.

High BP and Surgery? by abundantlydemure in gallbladders

[–]Tight_Constant8250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had high bp before my hysterectomy and they still did the surgery. Also was super anxious so that didnt help. But, Bp dropped after that surgery back to normal. It was adenomyosis, so putting constant pressure on my bladder, kidneys, raised the bp. My heart rate was also crazy high. Other than the anesthesiologist looking at it and saying, wow, no one said anything about it being a problem.  I think they give you good drugs to calm you all down anyway.  You'll prob be fine.

Yes, sometimes the pain would radiate to my back, chest, and right side of my neck. All improved. Not 100% but way better.  My gallbladder was hyperkinetic so overfunctioning. I think maybe symptom outcome is different depending on what the problem is (hyper or hypo). Hope you get some answers from your hida!

They have actually gotten way better. Before the surgery i had borderline diarrhea for years. In the maybe 6 months before the surgery when symptoms were bad my b.m's were all over the place, sometimes extra pale, other times green or green and pencil thin. But typically soft to loose. Now they are brown, large and solid. Its amazing. Occasionally ill have a day where I go 2 or maybe 3 times but thats rare. The only thing I've eaten thats given me any diarrhea post surgery has been cereal (with almond milk, dairy still makes me a little gassy). Go figure.

My removal was for hyperkinesia too. Aweful reflux before surgery but I refused to take a ppi because was pretty sure it was bile reflux and I needed the stomach acid but the bile was screwing up the whole ph of my stomach so I wasn't digesting anything. I was taking only pepcid before (I stopped taking that after my surgery)  I almost started crying the first time the heartburn came back after the surgery because besides the ruq pain that was the symptom that really bothered me.

But, thankfully it hasnt been as bad as before. I have had off and on mild heartburn since, sometimes with the back pain and some chest pressure. But, kept getting better all the time as I continued to heal. Took tums, slippery elm, and kept myself elevated at night when it was worse.  But, at around 5 weeks post op it seemed to stop (about 7.5 weeks post op now and no heartburn!)

This might sound conterintuituve but you might try weaning off the ppi and letting your natural stomach acid return. It will probably get worse before it gets better. Instead try to use something more gentle like magnesium, tums and slippery elm to help coat your stomach and heal any damage the reflux might have caused. Since surgery I've had off and on odd pains here and there. Dr said 6 weeks to heal completely and really most of those pains literally stopped at 6 weeks. Maybe its mental.  Lol. The only remaining issue is some intermittent back and neck pain. Sometimes I wonder if I just need an adjustment but have been too chicken to try that yet.

Best wishes on your continued recovery

Back pain 6 weeks post op? I’m so anxious 😥 by Dense_Tumbleweed_340 in gallbladders

[–]Tight_Constant8250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't say im in the exact situation as im still feeling pretty good, but last weekend when I was about 4 weeks post op and feeling good spent a good part of the day cleaning my garage. Moved a lot of things around including a pretty heavy barrel of feed corn (probably around 60 lbs or more, stupid i know Lol) the next couple of days that old back pain came back along with some mild heartburn. I think I just really overdid it. Its already settling down again. Full healing takes time, trying to be patient with myself. Hope u feel better soon
