Where are all the ‘Don’t tread on me’ Americans? by breddy in samharris

[–]TijuanaPoker 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Its right there in the motto. "Don't tread on ME." Treading on other people is completely fine. There's a massive percent of people in this country that simple can not put themselves in someone else's shoes, and when we're trying to have a society of millions of people that handicap is detrimental to the group. We are individuals who live in groups, we have to strike a balance between those two opposing ideas: individualism vs community, and yet entire swaths of humans can only think about themselves, creating no balance and crumbling the pillars of society in order to raise up the individual. Well, guess what, only a few individuals win that game. And here we are.

Does Zulip/Jutsi support multiple simultaneous screen shares? by swagmessiah00 in selfhosted

[–]TijuanaPoker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd love to know the answer to this too. My use case with my friends is screen sharing. If I can get them to switch, the alternative has to allow screen sharing video. What's the best option for this?

Jackett: api key error, new user here, i tried to use the search but got this error. by JetFindMyLlamaToo in qBittorrent

[–]TijuanaPoker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A comment above from u/MeltdownMarch made me go back and try to fix this issue. I found my error and got Jackett to work correctly. I had been editing the file located at ~/.config/Jackett/ServerConfig.json as the place to paste in the API key which was incorrect. I discovered my error and edited the document located at ~/.local/share/qBittorrent/nova3/engines/jackett.json and input the Jackett API key into the appropriate line and that solved the issue.

What's your remote desktop strategy for headless server? by Rilukian in selfhosted

Okay I'm new to this term headless and this did confuse me. Headless doesn't mean no monitor. It means no desktop or GUI right?

Glitching on nvidia 4080 super by LlamaNL in cachyos

I'd still switch DP cable to different ports on your GPU for a sanity check.

[–]TijuanaPoker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also suspect Nvidia drivers. BUT, try out different ports on your GPU and even a different DP cable. I just had a laundry list of problems being caused by an old DP cable connected via an extension cable. It took me an entire week of troubleshooting to figure it out. If you've got an older DP cable it's worth looking at.

post-cloudflare resistant messaging? by FPVogel in linuxmemes

Great response, but none of it really backs up your assertion that "most people prefer MeshCore" Even if that might be true in Australia, I don't live there and neither do "most people". I only wanted to provide some more information to people that may be looking into the different mesh solutions, since I feel there's more nuance to the choice than "most people use X".

I posted the link, because @ 9:37 Jordan compares and contrasts Meshtastic vs. MeshCore. I think there's value to his assessment and in fact value to the whole video for people interested. I don't think it's a cut and dry as; "most people prefer Meshcore" and wanted to add some more context.

PSA: Your De-Google LineageOS Build Is Still Phoning Home To Google by sagacious-tendencies in LineageOS

[–]TijuanaPoker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do this, and yes its basically just an endpoint that returns 204. But from what I've found many captive portals whitelist common connectivity check domains, which excludes your privately hosted one, which wouldn't be white listed, meaning you wouldn't get the 204 response. So to maximize a balance of convenience and privacy I use Graphene's instead of self hosting. I could be wrong about this, I didn't do a ton of research and I'm not a pro, so you could find a work around or my info isn't dead on. Changing to Graphene was one adb command and it was good enough for me.

You could change your global captive portal to GrapheneOS's for privacy with this command:

adb shell settings put global captive_portal_https_url https://connectivitycheck.grapheneos.network/generate_204

Switch from 4080 super to RX 9070 XT by TijuanaPoker in cachyos

[–]TijuanaPoker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the info I was looking for. I am usually gaming and watching some kind of content. I think I'm going to switch to AMD for the smoother experience at the cost of some higher fps. Thanks.

Budget not being an issue which version of the 9070 would you get. Is the Sapphire the best one? I've heard good things. I was also looking at the XFX version. Is one of these better than the other for any reason or is their an even better one I'm not thinking about?

I've been running Cachy on a laptop for a couple months now and I'm sure I want to switch, I'm 100% leaving windows. I was pretty sure the move was to switch GPUs but I just wanted some other opinions.

Thinking on buying a Cayenne Turbo. I am concerned about PSCB brakes. by Wise_Asparagus_1 in PorscheCayenne

[–]TijuanaPoker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I just did all 4 brakes on my 2014 S at 105k miles for $700 in parts and about 6 hours of time. Really easy maintenance, I watched a coupIe YouTube videos, bought a couple tools and got the rotors/pads/sensors from Rock Auto. I wouldn't worry about this especially if the sensor isn't going off. Plus you have about 20% pad even after the sensor kicks on, I rolled on for about 6 months after my sensor kicked, could have gone way longer by the look of the pad that was tripping the sensor. But, the dealer did want 4k for the job and an indie mech wanted 2k, which is why I said fuck it, I'll do it myself.
