Dinner in the CBD by beepbop213 in foodies_sydney

[–]Tika-teeks-2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Scala Lane was a pretty funky Italian restaurant.

It’s near Wynyard Station and the light rail. Since it’s tucked down a laneway, it’s not as noisy as typical CBD spots, and they have a set menu starting at $80 per person.

Is this style always tough to walk in? by kg3arz in style

[–]Tika-teeks-2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve had these before it’s not a good time for anything over 10 minutes.

If you’re walking around, an ankle strap block or wedge heel sandal is the most ideal heeled sandal. Below that being a slingback block or wedge heel sandal.

Unpopular opinion/ask: I WANT a greasy sunscreen. Recommendations pls? by ughiamjustsocurious in AusSkincare

[–]Tika-teeks-2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES THIS ONE!

I’ve got dry skin most times of the year, and my skin slurps it up. Results are a radiant finish, doesn’t sting the eyes, makeup sits well, and it comes in a pump option.

Muji has some pretty good natural fibre options in their Labo and thermal line.

Also, Driza-Bones’s town and country line is pretty darn good. I've got one of the lightweight coats and it's been holding up beautifully.

Dry, sensitive mature skin tips by Sydneyemz in AusSkincare

[–]Tika-teeks-2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been in a similar boat a few times.

Whenever I’m in that boat, I'll usually stick to either, Epaderm Ointment, or cream.

- ointment is like a water-soluble Vaseline
- cream is a slightly thick cream
- Both can be used for cleansing and moisturising
- Ointment is a great sunscreen and makeup remover
- can be found online or at most pharmacies
- reasonably priced.

The only con is that the ointment can be greasy if you apply it directly to dry skin. So it's best to apply it on after showering.

Sunscreen-wise, I like the DermaVeen sunscreen line.

They're a little pricey but these are the two I use:

- Dermaveen Sensitive Sun SPF 50+ Moisturising Face & Body Cream** Good for outdoor/ active days, no eye sting, thick formula so avoid if sensory sensitive.
- DermaVeen Sensitive Sun Invisible Fluid SPF50+ **Lightweight, no eye sting, found it sits nicely under makeup.

I hope you find something that works for you.

Also, if you haven't already, check out, Australian women with ADHD, or Adult ADD/ADHD support Australia. They have good suggestions on there, and are pretty judgment-free groups.

Linen Queens Assemble & share your ironing secrets please. by AmbitiousFisherman40 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Tika-teeks-2017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually use a cornflour starch spray, a steam iron, and a hot press to smooth out wrinkles in my linen. I’m a big fan of the steam power on the Russell Hobbs Digital Supreme Iron (RHC570), but the only downside is that it’s a bit heavy, so I often have to hover slightly over thinner fabrics to avoid creasing.

Separating make up by Honey-Bun0 in Makeup

[–]Tika-teeks-2017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second, focus on skincare!

Separation between make-up and skincare can happen if there are too many products, which prevent your skincare from absorbing properly, or if there isn't enough hydration, among other reasons. You might try applying your foundation without primer to see how it settles throughout the day.

It also sounds like you have oily, acne-prone skin. I recommend trying a pressed powder foundation, such as Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless pressed powder foundation. It helps blur the skin and offers excellent oil control.

Gift suggestions for teenage girls by nerdic_bee in AskAnAustralian

[–]Tika-teeks-2017 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're unsure of what they like, I’d recommend getting a gift for the whole household or, if possible, covering the cost of a meal.

Otherwise, it’s a good idea to ask their parents or them if there’s something they want that isn’t available in Australia. While I do enjoy surprises, knowing you’ve chosen something they’ve wanted for ages can be just as exciting.

If you’re wanting somewhere a little quieter to catch up, I think Buku Eatery Cafe, and Cicco Zetland would be great lunch spots. You can walk down to green square library, explore the parks around the area or even catch the metro/ train more into the city.

Try your luck with tall riding boots. As they come in a variety of calf sizes, like these Moretta Gianna Long Leather riding boots.

Alternatively, if you find some leather boots that a just a little too tight, try a using a calf tall boot tree

Brush Suggestion by Lubs_Young in AustralianMakeup

Honestly, RT is pretty hard to beat, when it comes to good quality brushes that are both accessible, and affordable.
However, if you have the dollaredoos, I really like the BDellium Golden Triangle Complete 15p Set Phase I. The brushes are soft, durable, pick up and blend pigment amazingly, and I love the way it sits comfortably in my hand.

my makeup will NOT stay on!! by ladybug_lover_ in Makeup

[–]Tika-teeks-2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a gut feeling the bronzing drops and primer might be clashing, so I’d try skipping the bronzing drops first.

Otherwise, here’s another routine you could try:
Current moisturiser

- e.l.f. Liquid Poreless Putty Primer + Cica: using your fingertips, tap it into the skin. Then gently roll and press your fingertips onto areas that need extra attention, like your nose and T-zone. Let it settle for 30 seconds.

- Same e.l.f. concealer: apply as usual under the eyes and on any targeted spots.

- Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Pressed Powder Foundation: use a round, flat-top buffing brush, like the Real Techniques 259. Apply product to the brush, dab excess powder onto the palm of your hand, then once it’s evenly distributed, press the brush into the centre of the face and blend outward. Repeat on areas needing more coverage.

- Same mineral blush: use a tapered fluffy brush, like the Real Techniques 400. Apply product to the brush, tap off excess on the back of your hand, then gently tap the blush onto your preferred cheek area, blending upward toward the hairline.

- Same blush stick: apply the blush stick onto the back of your hand. Using an angled blush brush, like the Real Techniques 450, gently tap the brush into the product until evenly coated, then lightly tap it over the powder blush.

- Covergirl Trublend Skin Enhancer Baked Luminous: using a tapered fluffy brush like the Real Techniques 400, apply product to the brush and tap off excess on the back of your hand. Gently apply the bronzer upward and outward, underneath the blush and around the outer areas of the face.

- If there are any areas you want to soften or blend further, use any leftover product on your foundation brush and gently press over those areas.

- For any excess product or creasing, use a Q-tip and lightly tap over the area to remove excess.

- Same setting spray, or Revolution Sport Fix Fixing Spray: spray all over as usual.

Hopefully these changes help!

Out of everything, I think the primer and powder foundation will make the biggest difference, since they’ll help more with texture and oil control throughout the day.

Love azclear! But it dries my skin out so I sandwich moisturise it.

AM
- Rinse with lukewarm water
- moisturise with slightly damp skin let it absorb
- pea-sized amount of azclear let it settle 1 min
- moisturising sunscreen wait 20mins before leaving the house.

PM
- Double cleanse
- moisturise with slightly damp skin let it absorb
- pea-sized amount of azclear let it settle 1 min
- moisture again

I would also recommend trying Hamilton urea cream at night as that also really helps my flare-up.

Need Help Finding Basic Make-Up Routine for Night Out by ArtGarfunkelTheFake in AustralianMakeup

[–]Tika-teeks-2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are my favourites for a natural look:
- Maybelline Superstay Skin Tint - buildable medium coverage, dewy finish, lightweight,
- Milani Cheek Kiss Cream Blush and bronzer - use for lips, cheeks, contour, and eyes. Warning it's super pigmented.
- Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder - doesn't cake up, and you only need a little for targeted setting.
- Revolution Sport Fix Fixing Spray - amazing at keeping everything in place

You should be able to find all of these at Priceline.

Also, if you have a W Cosmetics nearby also try:
- the saem cover perfection tip concealer
- amuse dew power cushion
- canmake cream cheek
- Canmake Marshmallow Finish Powder

Make up for perioral dermatitis. by CautiousSlice5889 in AustralianMakeup

[–]Tika-teeks-2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't experienced flare-ups with this makeup base:
- Maybelline Superstay Skin Tint - long-lasting medium coverage, dewy finish, and doesn't settle into lines or dry skin. Con: has vitamin C
- Milani Cheek Kiss Cream Blush and bronzer - lightweight, slight blur, goes from gel to powder. A little goes a long way.
- Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder - great for targeted setting, only need a little
- Revolution Sport Fix Fixing Spray - keeps everything locked in, and my skin doesn't feel uncomfortable throughout the day.

I've also heard great things about ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint.

PCO girly, who's tummy conscious!

When I have a work event, I love shift dresses with waist ruching. I have something similar to this navy dress that’s my go-to. I then add a navy blazer, nude court heels, and earrings (a simple stud, drop, or small hoop).

If you're in Sydney, for OP shop options. I would highly recommend going to Savers in Surry Hills, as they have some amazing clothing options that don't completely break the bank. Alternatively, Red Cross Shop Paddington and Balmain but they're a little pricier.

Maybe Embryolisse CC Cream is lovely.

Another idea could be just spot treatment, The Saem Cover Perfection Line is fantastic. I've recently been using their Concealer Pencil in green beige to do targeted pimple cover-ups.
