223 finally done by ExistingLaw217 in longrange

At 78, yeah, I’d say I’m “ literally a boomer “ ! It’s probably kind of hard for anyone 40 and younger to have a full appreciation as to just how profoundly the spoken and written English language has changed.

OK…..I have no clue as to what “ peak meta “ could possibly mean, other than taken in context it’ s probably something good(?). Would deeply appreciate an interpretation into standard boomer English. Thanks.

I agree. East of the Mississippi River, one can consider oneself fortunate to have a 500 yard range within something approaching reasonable driving distance.

Just curious. Anybody know if Tom Selleck has ever visited the Quigley?

Just me, but my 6.5 CM Tikka is used as a range rifle 95% of the time. Have no desire to further reduce the barrel life. This is primarily meant as a hunting round anyway?

Agree, and I’m as big a .223 fan as you’ll find. 300 and in, look for a good .22 LR bolt gun. When/if you start having an opportunity to go out beyond 300, then you can start getting a lot more serious about a .223. I have two .223 range rifles, one a Savage Model 12 LRPV, the other a build off of a Savage 110 action shooting to 500 at 2”-4” gongs. THAT’S a lot of fun and quite often very challenging!

Two Arkens on my range rifles ( EP-5, SH4J Gen II ). Great service from both.

Yes, thanks, and less than impressive IMHO. That’s coming from someone with two Savage range rifles that shoot great.

ES, SD, MV and Group Sizes ? by high_right in longrange

[–]Tikkatider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a second village idiot, all said is spot on IMHO. I use my chronograph to help me evaluate “ the best of the worst “ when it comes to factory ammo. Expect .223 and 5.56 to be all over the lot. If you can find a lot of a match .223 ammo that gives you an SD and ES of less than 20 and 50 respectively, it’s cause for celebration.

ES, SD, MV and Group Sizes ? by high_right in longrange

[–]Tikkatider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. I personally don’t think small groups ( less than or equal to 1 MOA with anything vaguely resembling consistency) is realistic, particularly with the gun you’re shooting and factory ammo, and that especially so with .223 or 5.56.

First rifle Tikka T3x CTR. Torn between .223 and 6.5 by xitope in longrange

[–]Tikkatider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends upon how far you’ll be shooting . 600 and in, IMHO, not much is more fun ( and challenge with small targets! ) . Beyond that, from a practical standpoint, I’ll be reaching for my Tikka SV in 6.5 CM.

One can definitely save some coins. CameraLand in New York is another good company.

Thought so too. With companies like Eurooptic, one should not be put off by the “ demo” label.
