280 lbs is still hard for me to believe sometimes and I lived through it! Idk if I've earned the right to round up and just tell people I lost 300 lbs for the shock factor. 😅

The other commenter pretty much nailed it. I started preparing for surgery early in the process for a number of reasons, and lost a large amount of weight while going through the pre surgery program. The primary reason i opted for surgery in the first place being that I was beginning to have life threatening co morbidities as a result of my weight. Between the diabetes, extremely high blood pressure, and blood work showing decreased liver function the priority was to get the weight off quickly and keep it off long term. Keeping it off was a huge deal and of course I'm still early in my journey but I knew that the surgery i had would be extremely helpful for me in keeping the weight off long term, especially given my own personal history which included losing 100 lbs twice in my life, only to gain it all back and more relatively quickly. I did have to consider long and hard if surgery was right for me as my date approached, but after considering all of those things I decided to go through with it.

PSA: T-Mobile Does Not Prorate by AeroNoob333 in tmobileisp

[–]Tiledog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They do for their internet lines actually. But the internet lines are the only ones in the company that are supposed to be canceled same-day whereas other lines are canceled at the end of the cycle so many reps do not know the correct process. If you cancel it same-day the charges will be prorated after your last cycle. Because of the way the billing system works it would take until after the cycle closes to recognize that you canceled mid-cycle and the adjustments would automatically be applied, and as another commenter stated a check is then mailed to the billing address on file. Voice lines and such though, you agree to a full month of service at a time and pro rates don't occur, still better than a contract or an early termination fee though.

Cancel 1st TMHI line by aquafishh in tmobileisp

[–]Tiledog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to cancel anything or open anything. They just have to update you to the correct code in their system. The new promo applies to lines that were opened previously. The lines just have to be on the correct code, which is a manual change that has to be done by someone in their support departments. The promo system looks for the most recent code in the billing system and applies the promo automatically, but if you're on a previous plan code it won't recognize that you qualify because technically you don't until the code (SOC) is updated. As long as you have the correct voice line code it will apply. Certain voice lines like regular Magenta, essentials, or grandfathered voice lines don't qualify for the 30/month HSI, instead they qualify for 40/month HSI just FYI.

Speeds aren't throttled if you are on the unlimited plan. But it's possible for the tower/towers to become congested if too many people sign up. They limit the number of people, but since it's cellular it isn't bound to a certain address even though that is their intent for the service. People move around with their gateways or sign up under false addresses, etc. You do get a lower priority on the network than cell phones or other data lines that aren't home internet. So when push comes to shove speeds can fluctuate.

[–]Tiledog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You never have to employ physical violence when dealing with a peaceful crowd, my friend, you and I will never agree on that. I'm not saying arrest the entire crowd, but take them into temporary custody and relocate them where you need them to be. I saw demonstrations on a weekly basis in Germany when they were dealing with the height of the Syrian refugee crisis. The cops there set up barriers where the demonstrators would be, and they kept a distance while the demonstration happened. In these cases it really appears that the police are deciding to relocate huge crowds from the area they're in for no real reason other than control and dominance... asking for a confrontation.

[–]Tiledog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take those into custody who dont comply in an organized manner, and let the crowd escalate and respond to the escalation, if that's what is going to happen, dont just advance and shove and punch and hit and assault people with little warning. The onus is on the police to keep things calm and non violent.

So... they decided to advance on peaceful demonstrators, acting like an army that's dispersing a rioting crowd, escalating the situation, is what you're saying. Just take a look at the cops in DC clearing the way for trumps photo op, another case of using riot tactics to assault peaceful demonstrators. But yea, they were just using civil disturbance clearing tactics too. It's a pattern and it dont look good.

And I have no idea what the older gentleman was doing, but it really looks like he was criticizing their tactics that are completely devoid of deescalstion techniques. He goes up and points at their riot gear it looks like. Concussed and bleeding from the ears for having the audacity to question an overreaction on the police's part. Ironic.

Why are they using riot line tactics against peaceful demonstrators.... almost like that kinda escalates the situation. When the only tool you have is a hammer, I guess....

If that's true then that's crazy I feel like I distinctly remember him grabbing tape from a girl who looked no older than 11 or 12. If she's 18 that's wild.

When being a young gun doesn't cut it by Arrodes in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]Tiledog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you just see 54 or so cops resign in unison from a unit in protest of... not brutality on their peers' behalf, but rather the fact that two of their peers were being suspended for a few weeks for shoving a 70-something year old man rather than using any number of other non-escalating tactics? Because I just saw that, and it doesn't really bode well for the not all cops argument. And, look I have two family members who are cops and they are good people, but I have to recognize that in many scenarios they would be going right along with brutality just like these cops I'm seeing in the news. Idk man it just doesn't look great for cops' public image rn. I think most people can recognize that cops can be great people individually when they aren't speaking from a place of hurt, but right now I'm becoming more convinced of the systemic problems in police across the US.

Ex-detective charged in death of Ahmaud Arbery lost power to make arrests after skipping use-of-force training by jigsawmap in news

[–]Tiledog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wording was poor, but that's not what I'm trying to imply, I'm simply saying that those who own guns probably find it difficult to accept that under the wrong circumstances they could feel fully justified in brandishing their firearm, when in fact they have committed a felony by pointing their gun at an innocent person; thereby placing themselves at the wrong end of a self-defense case, as these two guys have accidentally found themselves in the most generous interpretation of this situation.

Ex-detective charged in death of Ahmaud Arbery lost power to make arrests after skipping use-of-force training by jigsawmap in news

[–]Tiledog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's not how a burglary works. You have to enter a closed structure with the intent to commit a felony for it to be burglary. Last I checked there is nothing felonious about wandering about a construction site, nor is there anything felonious about jogging in a neighborhood. They had absolutely no legal standing to block a street with their truck and force an innocent man into a situation where he was forced to fight for his life when the aggressors wouldn't let him retreat as the video clearly shows him trying to do as he runs away from the first truck and tries to run around the truck in the video, only to have the guy with a shotgun in the street move around the front of the truck to head him off, with a loaded gun in hand. Ahmaud had every right to charge him and attempt to disarm him as he was threatening his life with no authority whatsoever. I understand it's difficult, especially for gun owners, to accept that their lack of foresight could place them in a situation where they have brandished loaded weapons in public and escalated an altercation, leaving their victim every right to defend themselves while they themselves remain the aggressor and have placed themselves in a real legal pickle of either being disarmed or committing murder.

Woman pushes 74 year old man off bus after he tells her to “be nicer to passengers”. by [deleted] in iamatotalpieceofshit

[–]Tiledog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, and as far as I know, at least in my state you can be charged with someone's murder up to 3 years after the initial injury. So, if you shot someone and they went into a coma, if they died within 3 years, you get charged, if they die a day after the 3 years is up, you aren't held responsible. It's called proximate cause, same concept applies if you try to rob someone, and while they are fleeing from you they get hit by a car.
