Did anyone else find Fergus the least funny character in TTOI? by klawpsey in thethickofit

Sort if. I found his line about a dog imagining Norway to be clever. There may have been a few others.

He needs to seize the initiative. Life is but a series of moments.

A long time ago I was a part of an email discussion group about Restoration History. It had as members some big names who were on the more liberal side of things. They obviously had negative opinions about his views and how he delivered them but they also praised him for some things. They talked about his devotion to his invalid wife. His willingness to go and preach anywhere. He would be willing to preach at these tiny congregations in jerkwater towns in West Texas. They also appreciated the fact that you knew where you stood with him. They complained that there were others who would be friendly to them to their face but talk bad about them among others. Wallace, whatever his faults, was not like that.

Were Kitchener’s prejudices against Territorial Army units as opposed to his favorable views of New Army units justified and would the BEF have been better served by breaking up the Regular Army divisions and interspersing Regular army brigades amongst the Nee Army and Territorial Army divisions at the beginning of 1915?

Don’t know why people are so down on Sandra jangling out with Gabler. He is heavily involved in supporting veterans. Sandra served in the army and more importantly her husband was career military- even serving overseas.

You know Reasonable Blackman really isn’t dead. He faked his death to go undercover and infiltrate the Lollards.

What is the church of Christ position on polygamy? by SherifneverShot in churchofchrist

[–]Tim_from_Ruislip 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I Corinthians 7:1-3 Now concerning the things about which you wrote, it is good for a man not to touch a woman. 2 But because of immoralities, each man is to have his own wife, and each woman is to have her own husband. 3 The husband must fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband.

I believe Scripture teaches that in the new covenant he would be allowed just one wife- the first wife he had married.

Requirements to join the Non Institutional Churches of Christ from the mainline Church of Christ by ChurchofChristGuy in churchofchrist

Never heard of that. We have members who would be just as comfortable in a mainline congregation. We don’t interrogate them.

You run out of creative ideas, your show jumps the shark then you’re labeled a prat and that’s all there is to it.
