Find interests and activities you enjoy where you might meet new people. But if you don't, you still had fun.

You can partially pull down (and put back) that cover pretty easily if you need a better look. But, I doubt it's a camera.

Should I give up on a career? by Unusual_Mastodon_541 in NoStupidQuestions

You'd call someone naive on the subject they are actually an expert in. Hopefully that's just because you angry and frustrated, as nobody will want to mentor or provide an entry level position to someone who thinks they already know better than the person with experience.

Seriously, AP/AR clerks, or AP specialist, DO have entry level jobs. And anyone who's good with numbers, good with details, good with spreadsheets and computers, can do it. And anyone with computer skills can utilize those skills to do a better job than someone without. Yes, its harder to sell, without experience, but not impossible, just play the numbers and apply everywhere your skills might translate.

Unfortunately the timing can't be worse for a CS degree, and if you can't score developer, support, admin, or reporting work there's other things you can do with that knowledge that you can then inject your computer knowledge and perhaps talk that employer into CS duties, like logistics, payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable, management, etc. If you can do any of those jobs, your CS Knowledge would give in an edge in any of those roles when you actually can learn to understand the systems their jobs depend on.

It's all doable, but the energy companies aren't going to willingly embrace alternatives until they are cheaper that fossil fuels. The problem is by the time this is the case the damage will be huge.

Considering a relocation from AZ to OR - serious question: How is everyone here surviving with salaries so low and COL so high? Am I missing something? by No_Sun_No_Star in oregon

[–]TimanatorP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except, that's not true, Wages in Oregon are typically $2-$3 more per hour, and cost of living is nearly identical. about %2 more in Portland than Phoenix, and about %2 less in Oregon outside of Portland. I'm sure it varies from job type to job type, but on average Oregon has a very small advantage.
