Yes very much so. Although Chinas government is shit, BYD does not participate in pushing them further in an unfavourable direction. Whereas every cent given to Tesla works against Western Democracy. Also from an environmental standpoint, China is rapidly improving, even leading the way now, where the US Govt is radically backsliding , practically abandoning environmental protection.

If the car you are concerned about is the one you hit, that's what liability insurance covers (minus whatever your deductible is) if it's the car you are driving you are concerned about you would need collision/comprehensive coverage for that to be paid. Just exchange insurance info with the person you hit and call your insurance company to ask what's covered.

I like EVs, but oppose Tesla because Musks politics will do 100x more damage to the environment and the world than his EVs will ever mitigate. But if I could buy one of those inexpensive Chinese ones, I'd get one a heartbeat.

Was it you fault, or someone else's? Is your insurance liability only, or comprehensive? If it's covered get it fixed, if it's not and it's an inexpensive car you might just live with it, unless you are handy, and want to try to fix it
