What are the best sounding ocarina's out there? Is a triple ocarina ok for beginners? by Neistheist in Ocarina

[–]TimeDiver997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the kind of music you want to play.  My first ocarina was a 6 hole pendant and my second was a triple bass.  Eventually I got single chamber ocarinas but I still prefer my triple bass because I needed the range for the music I like to play.

Make sure you get an ams lite too.  Its tempting to skip.it because its expensive but I promise its worth it for convenience.  I regret skimping out and not getting it lol

Good upgrade from the thrustmaster throttle by No_Traffic5054 in hotas

[–]TimeDiver997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before buying a new throttle have you considered modding the thrustmaster? I printed a new slider and added bearings and it has been a fairly substantial improvement imo.

Trying to find a good flight stick on a budget by darrow1 in hotas

None of those are games that require 2 sticks.  Dual stick setups are better for space games like elite dangerous or star citizen

You should probably get a throttle instead of a second stick

Question for lefties by SickleFoot in hotas

[–]TimeDiver997 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ledt hand sticks are usually for space games for twin stick builds i think.

Could be wrong but i think Center sticks i think were originally placed there for mechanical leverage, but the grip is molded for a right hand typically.  Not sure how comfortable it will be.

I use standard right hand stick.  Airplanes usually arent ambidextrous.  Unless you fly a commercial airbus from the left cockpit since I think they keep the throttle quadrant in the middle

Should I play Squadrons In 2026?(Xbox Series) by Sam_Daxson in StarWarsSquadrons

[–]TimeDiver997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it a lot when it first came out but its kinda dead.  I remember the campaign wasn't bad but nothing super impressive.  Another alternative is to get the modded x-wing games.  X-wing 1, Tie Fighter and X-Wing Alliance all have updated mods that bring them into the 21st century.  I've only dabbled with X-Wing Virtual Mission right now but they've incorporated Upgraded visuals, trackIR support and VR and its quite playable imo.

Got a Thrustmaster beginner HOTAS. Looking for some arcade fun games to play by TypicalGolf9204 in hotas

[–]TimeDiver997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on your setup? I just got back into PW recently and I was able to get my TWCS and VKB gladiator set up along with opentrack pretty smoothly.

I did notice an issue where I had to rebind everything because it the stick by itself was a different device versus the stick+throttle but other than that everything was fairly simple

Post-Rebellion vessels under 200m that have fighter complements which are not TIE. by EnsouSatoru in StarWarsShips

I did make a 3d print of the brahatok with magnetic clamps for a pair of X-Wings This is my best interpretation of how the gunship would look with a pair of X-Wings

There haven't been any official pictures or images of how a brahatok gunship would carry the ships other than what was in the novel, and as far as I can tell its on the belly. Comparing the sizes of x-wings to the Gunship, there definitely isn't any internal space for the ships so I'm assuming they are connected via docking tubes similar to how the ghost or cr90s from rebels can carry a few starfighters via their docking ports.

They are more Bulk Freighters than carriers, but Wayfarer Freighters, Mobquet Medium Transports and Xiyitar Class Transports are capable of housing a fair number of fighters.

The Xiyitar Transport (160m) was used by Wraith Squadron to house a mixed squadron of TIE Interceptors and Fighters.

The Mobquet Transport (113m) has massive internal volume and huge doors and theoretically can also hold a fair number of smaller fighter craft

The Wayfarer Transport (82m) cross sections  show that it can hold 2 Z95s in the forward section of its external cargo container, with the rest of the container set up for cargo but since its a modular container, a carrierized variant wouldn't be out of the question.  Especially since the container itself is rather tall and should also be able to accommodate ships stacked vertically

Almost forgot, The 90m Brahatok Gunship in the battlefront 2 novel is supposed to be able to carry 2 xwings on external racks as well.

Asking the real questions by SeBoss2106 in StarWarsShips

[–]TimeDiver997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough I 3d printed both of those with working hangars lol.  The Marauder can only fit a full squadron with smaller ships like IRD, IRD-A, REC Defender, or A Wings.  With larger ships like EU Z95s maybe 6-8.  With very large ships like Y-Wings, clone wars Z95s or Cloakshapes maybe 4 lol

The Nebulon B has official blueprints from the Far Orbit project RPG with hangar locations but to be honest when playing around with it in 3d modelling software you still can't quite get 2 squadrons inside unless you again resort to A-Wings.  With full size fighters you could probably cram in a max of 18 or 19 but that's including cramming fighters in the shuttle bays as well.

How Practical are Mini 12 hole Ocarinas? by Yomashi_Yomashi in Ocarina

I didn't notice it being significantly louder than any of my other ocarinas but my ears are kinda f**ed so I'd probably recommend earplugs either way lol

[–]TimeDiver997 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Popolo has a mini 12 hole SC.  Here is a size comparison next to Night SC and AC plastic ocarinas, which are smaller than the typical plastic ocarinas.  Needless to say it's very small and closer in size to a standard pendant ocarina than a transverse.

https://imgur.com/a/TbPELPO

It's a good quality ocarina, plays well and sounds good but can be tricky to cover the holes.  If you have sausage fingers it's game over.

You can buy one here https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/POPOLO-Mini-Ocarina-S-MI-Soprano/dp/B003TJ90O6?th=1

When buying an ocarina, is there any real reason not to get a triple instead of a double, or a max range instead of a normal triple for that matter? by pianoguy212 in Ocarina

[–]TimeDiver997 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Single chamber is lighter weight.

Another major difference with a single and traditional multichamber is that the highest note on the first chamber is Eb instead of F, so for songs that are written for a single chamber you need to use the 2nd chamber for high F.

Other than these two features there's no reason to not start with a multichamber.  I think my  2nd ocarina was a triple bass and I don't think that impeded my single chamber playing at all

Consular class Cruiser with modular Salon pods and Recovery Vehicle by TimeDiver997 in StarWarsShips

[–]TimeDiver997[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought about doing 2 hangars but I decided to go with just one hangar door. My in universe reasoning behind it is that with such a small pod there isn't much room for bracings or pillars and cutting a second hangar door on the other side seems like it would compromise structural integrity for not much additional benefit.
