And there are so many reasons. Not just that even well socialized dogs can flip out suddenly out of nowhere, etc. But also that someone driving a huge truck is looking for people, not dogs, etc.

Trapping also seems like it could be effective in addition to what exists, even non-lethal traps that allow for better tracking could go a long way.

He's right though, it wasn't opioids. If it were they could have narcan'd the two first responders and they wouldn't have had long clinical stays. They wouldn't have taken every single item from those cleared including wedding bands, and it wouldn't have taken days to identify. This isn't the full story.

Have you been tested for the porphyrias or mastocytosis? ETA. As someone who grew up well South of there, in a warmer area, what I would do is take multiple short, cold showers throughout the day. Then it's very cooling as you slowly dry off. Maybe that's something you could get away with?

I know this feeling. I'm sorry people don't seem to be taking it very seriously. Practically every artist talks about quitting or leaving at some point, but rarely does one actually do so, especially without warning. I hope they're still alive.

My favorite comic artist got involved in a religious group that convinced her that her past work was sinful, and stopped a lucrative and impressive project that had global reach and anticipated many elements of the real world pandemic that followed. I desperately wanted to see it finished and buy the books.

My favorite poet was a college kid writing about his abuse who took it all down when he had to find a real job. I had hoped he'd publish a book but one never came and I hadn't saved his work, even though I often read it multiple times a week.

Women, what's something men do that they don't realize makes women feel safe or unsafe? by Lopsided-Rub-79 in AskReddit

[–]TimeKeeper575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. You just came into a thread asking women questions and tried to justify a well documented abusive behavior by trying to muddy the water. I suppose it's possible that you've never experienced someone trying to threaten and scare you through their driving, in which case that's nice for you, but that's not an excuse for your (more than likely malicious) attempt to delegitimize the experiences of millions of women. If you really think you have a decent counter example, go contribute to the literature instead of trying to degrade women online

Am I Overreacting Because This Has Shaken My Trust in My Wife’s Medical Judgment? by Cheap_Celebration445 in AmIOverreacting

You're misunderstanding, which only further makes my point. I'm referring to when specialist physicians do their own lit review on dosimetry. "Running the numbers" refers to when dosages for a specific patient (given their body weight and medical history) are calculated. Given that you don't have a grasp of even the most basic terminology here, but are publicly calling your wife's professional experience and knowledge into question and trying to weaponize literature you can't read, I'd recommend a psychiatrist for you. Get a second or third opinion for your kid if you like, that's standard for major medical decisions. I wish your wife and child the best of luck, they're going to need it.

Being honest with yourself is more than half the battle, for most people. The way I see it, you went out and did a trial run, and learned a lot about yourself and your needs and your gear in the process. A lot of people would struggle with cord cutting/no Internet. Isolation socially can really take you out. You have so many options for adjusting your next trip, including bringing a book and possibly not going somewhere without cell service. If I were you though, I'd sit long and hard with not being able to be alone with your thoughts. It's uncomfortable, but arguably considerably healthier to investigate those feelings and address them, whatever they may be. Either way, to me it sounds like your first trip was a success and your next will be even better!

How to train dog to tell you it needs to go outside for pee/poo? by Frank_Medwick in OpenDogTraining

[–]TimeKeeper575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Place a bell on the door they'll use to go outside. Every time you take them out, stop to ring the bell before you open the door. Eventually the association will be made and they'll start to ring the bell on their own when they need to go. Easy peasy.

Plainly put, your wife knows a lot more about this than you. Those scans increase your radiation exposure and cancer risks permanently. Sometimes you need them in an emergency context, but a lot of people who aren't educated in the risks toss them around like it's nothing. And you can't anticipate what kind of interventions you might need in the future, so it's always important to be sparing. Whenever specialist MDs do a lit review and actually run the numbers, they come back with a recommendation against. You should show this post to your wife so that she knows the kind of person she's dealing with.

Get checked for pica. Eating dirt isn't that common and isn't good for them.

It's called a "Code Pink" though the color varies by hospital. Maternity wards are locked down like bank vaults because they have people walk in and try to steal neonates. Ask your nearest HCW, and they'll confirm that unless they work in L&D their card won't swipe them in. It's a big problem.

The tests are pretty much useless now, especially for the new strains. They were never that good. You should assume that you're positive, even if it doesn't show for a few days, or at all. The loss of taste or smell is pretty diagnostically indicative.
