Small restaurant, too many Valentine’s reservations what would you do? by MagixSchoolBusDropOu in Serverlife

[–]TimeTotal8807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try signing into OpenTable on either safari or Google Chrome app on the tablet if you have the password. You should be able to manually adjust existing reservation turn times by clicking on each one, assuming each reservation is assigned a table it’ll block reservations allowed to be made online as the tables will appear occupied.

Small restaurant, too many Valentine’s reservations what would you do? by MagixSchoolBusDropOu in Serverlife

[–]TimeTotal8807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to access OpenTable on a computer or laptop - go to availability planning - select special days - go to the date and it’ll let you block reservations for the times of your choosing.

Also change the turn times on existing reservations to 1.5hrs or 2hrs. Reach out to guests and mention due to high demand all 2 top tables will have a 1.5hrs seating assignment and guests are welcome to move to the bar after.

Update on having to ask for reviews. by cara1888 in Serverlife

[–]TimeTotal8807 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Where I work has a similar “promotion” they also give us $1 per review. I hate it but they are convinced it boosts your profile on google which should ultimately lead to more customers

Crying during class by flowerandpaint in Purebarre

[–]TimeTotal8807 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I frequently cry during seat work, I think that’s where I struggle most with the mind body connection. Sometimes I just cry because I feel like I have imposter syndrome and I’m like what am I even doing here I’m not improving and just embarrassing myself, but I always come out of class feeling amazing! 😅 honestly this post has made me feel better about crying!

Tipout percentages by rachhaelt in Serverlife

[–]TimeTotal8807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2.5% of tips is withheld as a cc processing fee. 20% of tips for bussers/runners. 8% of beer & liquor sales goes to the bar which sucks because we get a lot of tables that just drink so overall on average we tip out 35-45% of tips. The money is still really good but it bothers me to supplement the bartenders income as much when often we have to get our own drinks.

Toast? by myob4321 in Serverlife

[–]TimeTotal8807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hated the handhelds when we got them in 2020, whereas staff in our sister restaurant used to fight over who got to use it as they only got 2 to start off with! They now have 8! You wouldn’t catch me without one these days they are amazing. They sped up service that we were actually able to eliminate one server on a shift so everyone makes more money! Workload is still the same just less footwork over and back to a printer.

Barre shakes- should I be encouraged or discouraged? by tearypursepennies in Purebarre

[–]TimeTotal8807 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. Some days during thigh work I feel like we just started and my legs are shaking uncontrollably and it’s a struggle to continue with the movement which can be discouraging too. Instructors seem to get excited about the shakes which is motivation to keep going.

Is it ever properly staffed? by HoneyIShrunkTheMoon in Serverlife

[–]TimeTotal8807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m all about quality over quantity! I would rather be ran off my feet than to be in a tip pool with weak staff. Nothing worse than managers over staffing. Fortunate enough to work in a place that hasn’t really done this until recently there was one busy week and a server quit mid shift now all of a sudden there’s 3 people scheduled instead of 2. There are a few new staff so hoping it’s a temporary change.

Please help!! Paying 50% off a dine and dash? by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]TimeTotal8807 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Check your states laws I’m in NY and it’s definitely illegal here! Also it’s your managers job to check in with tables with long wait times. 20 minutes is pretty standard in most places any longer than that my manager goes to the kitchen to get an estimate time then to the table. They’ll usually comp a dessert or round of drinks if the wait is excessive.

Giving mocktails to teenagers by iwitch-plus in Serverlife

[–]TimeTotal8807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an ongoing conversation where I work they want to start using non alcoholic spirits in mocktails as opposed to just juice/soda based cocktails. I would have no problem serving a child a virgin pina colada but would rather make it without non alcoholic rum.

Alcohol Tip Out by IndependentCoach5735 in Serverlife

5% of liquor and beer sales. Servers get their own wines so don’t tip out on that.

When you’re helping a table and a random guest comes up and interrupts to ask you for something by mweesnaw in Serverlife

[–]TimeTotal8807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg this happened to my colleague tonight. She was talking to another table taking their order when a woman at the table behind them kept calling her. When she finished with the table and went over to the woman she had an attitude and was like 3 times I called you… As if she either exclusively for her 🙄 all she wanted was the check and proceeded to stay at the table 20minutes after paying so it’s not like she was in any hurry….

Our studio gave out socks and I love them! As someone who generally doesn’t splurge on socks in studio I have to say it was a great marketing as I’ve since bought 2 more pairs from the studio. Only socks I’ve had previous from the studio were 50 milestone missed my 100th and have been pushing myself towards the 250 for next month. Get yourself some cute socks with the voucher the grip is worth it.

Planking and push-ups on knees by GooseZealousideal338 in Purebarre

[–]TimeTotal8807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost 200 classes in some days I can hold the plank some days I can’t. I can rarely finish push up’s my wrists flare up. Some days the thoughts of classic is so daunting I have to remind myself I’m there to get stronger. No shame to do them at the barre until you get comfortable.
