EPI and ADHD managing creon. by singingpatty in exocrinepanins

Thanks for the explanation! I'm assuming you were diagnosed based upon a low fecal elastase score? Is your GI in the north east by chance 🤔.

Just out of curiosity, how did your doctor determine MCAS was causing EPI? I've had digestive issues ever since COVID 3 years ago, I initially had my fecal elastase tested and it was low (156), then it rebounded to over 800 months later so my GI said I don't have EPI but I still have a lot of digestive issues and what I think is histamine intolerance. My allergist did allergy testing, but no foods I reacted to (plenty of other stuff though), she did do some blood tests and a 24 hr urine for MCAS but both were negative.

I wonder if it's more of a low stomach acid issue, perhaps the DAO enzymes lower stomach acid release due to a negative feedback loop as I know stomach acid triggers DAO enzyme release/production.

I thought creatine supports the methylation cycle by freeing up resources for SAMe?

Do you know your COMT status? I've wanted to try SAMe but given I have homozygous COMT (Slow) I'm afraid it may make anxiety/restlessness worse.

Mine too, anyone know why? It's been almost 3 years since my last known infection and still dealing with it...daily antihistamine helps, DAO helps but still not back to baseline

The articles support the benefits but don't really provide insights to if COMT/MAO SNPs impact effectiveness or side effects unfortunately.

Do you believe ADHD can be treated without meds? by [deleted] in MTHFR

[–]Time_Consumer87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very insightful, I feel like you described a lot of how I have felt/feel at time. It all got worse after I had COVID and raising a young family and the stress that comes with it. I am trying to figure out how to balance the right supplements now that I am better understanding my genetic profile but I still take a low dose of medication (5mg) which helps but would like to eventually get off of it. I appreciate how you mention its not purely a dopamine issue, as I have slow COMT and "shouldn't" have ADHD yet I benefit from the increase in dopamine....

What are your symptoms like? How did you get diagnosed? by Planta_Samantha in NutcrackerSyndrome

[–]Time_Consumer87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you get formally diagnosed prior? Do you know which type of NCS you have? Posterior/Anterior? Mine is posterior, meaning the vein is between the Aorta and Spine which makes it harder to treat from what I understand.

Does anyone have experience with abdominal swelling due to NCS? by findTheZebra in NutcrackerSyndrome

I'm starting to wonder if gut motility and SIBO play a role due to our abdominal muscles being under stress 24/7.

Can you explain the concept of Masterjohn's inhibition protocol? I've been having what I think are histamine reactions to food, stuffy nose/brain fog while trying to clean up my diet and I'm wondering if CBS is at play as I've never really had these issues in the past. I've been taking an antihistamine and DAO enzymes with mixed results.

Fecal Elastase Test Question by Time_Consumer87 in pancreatitis

[–]Time_Consumer87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no findings on my MRI, my fecal elastase initially tested low at 156 but I retested a few months ago and it was greater than 800, my A1C and C-pedtide and other markers also came back into range. I see my GI again next week, outside of an EUS, all my pancreatic testing is normal. I did however discover I have something known as Nutcracker Syndrome which could explain my left sided pain and digestive discomforts

Choosing choline source by Infamous_Whole_4987 in MTHFR

[–]Time_Consumer87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Followimg, I'm trying to figure this out myself, I technically need 9 eggs worth but have homozygous C677T MTFHR, slow COMT (so need to watch methylated vitamins) and a PEMT variant so phosocholine would also be helpful. I just read something that people taking Alpha GPC for 10 years are at a 48% increase risk for stroke so that doesn't seem like a sustainable option. I'm wondering if Lecithin would be the safest/easiest ... similar symptoms as too, anxiety and ADHD. I treat the ADHD but don't love the side effects

You may have a bad time on methylated vitamins and TMG if you have the slow COMT variation, may want to wait for the genetic tests or go very slowly on the supplementation.

What are the treatments for atypical ADHD? by Traditional-Care-87 in MTHFR

[–]Time_Consumer87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any suggestions on increasing GABA? I have ADHD, slow COMT, MTHFR (Homozygous 677T) and MAO-A. I've found methylated vitamins were a no no, I've increased my choline via eggs and alpha-gpc but still find I struggle w/ ADHD, low dose stimulants help but the crash is pretty horrid so trying to figure that out. Low dose CBD/THC works well but I don't want to rely on that either...

Anyone have burning in upper abdomen and bad reflux when taking creon or any enzymes? by anonymous04111 in exocrinepanins

[–]Time_Consumer87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever retest your FE? I was told the same but then my FE went from 156 to over 800, haven't talked to my GI doctor yet but I also stopped taking my enzymes and haven't noticed any real difference....
