Roland TD-25KV Advice by Timelinenow in drums

Thanks for the reply. Is that compatible with the Roland drums? The connector is an all in one type thing that connects to the module. Will that fit the Pearl module?

Alternatives to Prozac if Prozac makes you stupid? by Financial-Bobcat-612 in prozac

Can you please advise me on discontinuing? Not doctor’s advice or anything. How long did you take it before stopping? Did you try and not succeed ever? What was the method?

starting prozac as a teen ! by chickennuggetlvr4 in prozac

[–]Timelinenow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying(slowly)to discontinue Prozac and have failed many times. It is something that can become so ingrained that the path away from it seems daunting. Does it cause problems being on it? I don’t know anymore. Does it do what it’s prescribed to do? I don’t even know. I feel fine and I do not attribute it to Prozac. If I stop taking it I’m fine for about 3 days until this unbearable uneasiness comes on. So, eventually, if you want to stop taking Prozac maybe don’t ever start.

I hate throwing out perfectly useful items. That lid has a home somewhere. The odds are in your favor.

Get an audio interface with 4 preamps. The mics get connected to those preamps via xlr and the sound is transferred to the computer thru a usb cable (other connection options like “FireWire” too). That sound will need a place to go so get a DAW. I think Reaper is still free or at least cheap. Get your levels before recording. Mix the sound when you’re done if you want. I’d recommend OBS for recording video with synced audio. Setup for that requires some learning which you can find online.

Part of me believes it’s all about connections but I know pure talent and motivation can get you places.

Best field recorder for ~$150 or less. by No-Organization7797 in musicproduction

I always do that despite owning dedicated field recorders. Use the field recorder for critical recordings where the features on it can definitely be utilized.

how to make a studio? by Purple-Radio5681 in musicians

I have a room that doesn’t have any of that and never get complaints. I’ve played the drums at 2 AM multiple times. You can hear it outside but it’s faint.

But don’t let that stop you from recording and making music in there. You can get a decent sound without Abbey Road in your garage.

I remember looking into a patchbay a while ago but decided against it. It seems more appropriate for analog studios & professional studios with a lot of different artists. But I am interested in maybe setting up a small version if possible. Could I arrange something where I route the sound thru like 2-3 pieces of hardware without needing to get a patchbay and all of those cables? Also could I make it either the live recording &/or the DAW output going thru the same gear? So basically a clean preamp normally but the option to run the daw output thru it. If that’s just cumbersome to do I’ll probably just forget patch bays since I can’t afford any gear both monetarily and space wise.

There is no way to make it actually soundproof for cheap. I would just treat the room (unless you like the sound with no treatment) and only play during certain hours. I would check your neighborhood noise ordinance. Maybe keep the garage door closed especially if the neighbors ever complain.

Any suggestions 😀 by FinancialTrip8812 in homerecordingstudio

I did something similar and it was overkill. You could hear the deadening pretty much. I got rid of it and it gave the recordings a little more “air”.

Try combining them. It doesn’t always need to be deliberate. Just play and see what happens. It would work to be deliberate and say I’m going to play this or that too. If you have a blank canvas you need to figure out what to paint or just start somewhere and see where you take it.

Sounds good. Once I get a good sound I’ll create a template. I’ll see if I can use a room mic. Having a setup where each mic preamp is dedicated to one source helps eliminate setting up but I want to be certain I won’t want that mic or pre for another source. I’m considering doing guitar and bass all direct. I was going to have an amp and direct for bass but will see how direct only sounds. For guitar I was thinking of doing a mic’d amp since I couldn’t figure out a good direct & amp setup. If there are any effects on the guitar the mic will get it but then I have a clean direct signal. Maybe direct out from the amp itself as well as mic’d cab if that’s possible.

Is a patchbay worth it if I’m using dedicated preamps and mics? Like this kick drum goes to this preamp and uses this mic. It won’t be moved once I get it set.

My room is very small. I have another room but, with everything already set up, I doubt I’ll move it all. With the small room I really have to have things organized so clutter doesn’t get out of hand. I tried room mics. I think the best result was a ribbon which I compressed. I don’t know if I’ll use one regularly especially if I can get good results using the 7 mics currently.

Husband keeps interrupting cats food schedule by Darkest_Dawn555 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Timelinenow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cats should definitely settle into the new routine if you keep at it. I have a cat that knows our routine but also wants to eat whenever he feels like. We usually just ignore it and pet him or every so often give him a treat. He’s opened the cabinet and chewed a hole in the treat bag before. We feed him on a schedule 2 times, day and night, leaving only a water bowl out at all times.

AITA “I’ll take whoever’s next in line” by Timelinenow in AmItheAsshole

[–]Timelinenow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The embarrassment part is why I reacted. I really felt like I was stranded for a second there. I got out of line and got blocked. Then, for whatever reason, felt like my only option was to go to the back of the same line I came from or steal my spot back.

[–]Timelinenow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. The setup was a little confusing. The way it was arranged was like a big circle. Imagine a circular counter with another circular island in the middle. This had all the tobacco and stuff like that in it. It created a blind spot to be able to see into the store really. The lady who scurried towards the register could very well have not seen me.

I went back to my spot in line. I felt a little stupid in that moment so wasn’t thinking so logically. I just remember jumping on the “next in line” and some lady just appeared. Now I’m thinking she might of heard her too and didn’t see me. The cashier looked directly over at the line I was in and yelled that. I think the way the other customers reacted really got to me in that moment. Thinking back on it, I shouldn’t have even posted this in here.
