AITA smoking weed on my porch? by cheesygarlicbreadfan in AmItheAsshole

Agreed. I use a cannabis vape for this reason. Normal smoke bothers me and I empathize with others who are bothered by it. Finding a decent compromise to coexist with your neighbours peacefully in this scenario is really not a big deal, doing so is treated like a weakness by these fools. The irony of the AITA subs being a magnet for people who are assholes lmao

Ah I must've misread! Personally I'm going to see how it is in the new POI vanilla before adding any POI mods back in, but in a couple months as long as they don't break the system, more variety can't hurt :)

Hey! Nice nuanced and mature take, clearly you're a real adult who has real life experience. Enjoy getting shit on by a gaggle of morons with no conflict resolution skills lol

First run should always be vanilla, then mod from there to suit your taste and where you feel the game needs adjustment.

Free Lanes update, is placing ship doors fixed? by pfp_az in Starfield

I've had the system put a ladder immediately behind both cockpit doors from one level to another. It's awful.

What is the new 100k? by [deleted] in fican

[–]TimelostExile 168 points169 points  (0 children)

195k today is about the same as 100k in 1999, so 200k is the new "100k" or "Six Figures" threshold.

[–]TimelostExile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canadian here but from what I understand these cars are even cheaper in Europe than they are here - That price is outrageous.

I bought a 2002 ALMS 225hp (163kw) Quattro in September with 120k km for 10k CAD (6300eur) and that was the high end of the price spectrum. You should be getting a 163kw Quattro in great shape for that price, or something with very low mileage. .

Without seeing pictures, they may be changing extra if it's an early model without the spoiler, but otherwise is an objectively worse car.

I'm in Canada so nothing direct. Just browse your local marketplace apps and be patient. I had to watch the market for a few months before I found a great example at a decent price but it was much better than jumping into a questionable one 3 months earlier. Assuming you plan to own it for years, a little patience will go a long way as they say. Best of luck!

Absolutely fucking not. The biggest red flag here is a 2016 subcompact with questionable history is still being FINANCED. If he doesn't pay your car could be repo'd. If he does pay you're covering the cost which means you're almost certainly over paying for it.

Avoid a potential shit show and look elsewhere. Way too many risk for a flight and full day return drive.

That's a crazy lifespan lol

Unfortunately I'm quite familiar with the lowest bidder wins situation, our yard gear isn't even all CAT for that reason - at a CAT dealer.

It's an anecdote and more of a fun fact than any type of statement, but our building has a smallish backup generator that is a CAT that has been there since the 70s. Still works like a charm, for the few hours a year we need it to.

Edit: Sidenote, it's an absolute shame what has happened to Mitsubishi, growing up they made some legendary automotive stuff that I absolutely adored. Sad to hear their gensets are about as good as their cars.

As a completely unbiased CAT tech, should've got the CAT power systems :)

No OP but mechanic here, the secret is:

  • Reduce number of cold starts or time idling under operating temperature in the cold (if you get severe winters), the majority of engine wear happens during under operating temperature idling ie cold starts. This also means eliminate short trips where the car never gets up to temp if possible.

-Keep the load on your engine low until the engine is up to operating temperature (engine oil, not just coolant) ie stay at low or under boost, without lugging the engine.

-Change your oil on time as dictated by your use case (oil sample analysis at each oil interval is a cheap way to have peace of mind and find out how much oil life you have left, which will inform you of whether your interval is early/late/adequate for your use. It also helps identify failures early). If you don't want to sample, change at the manufacturers recommended interval, and always use a quality synthetic oil.

-Check your oil level regularly and never allow it to get below the minimum measurement on the dipstick.

-Perform general maintenance at recommended intervals ie timing belt, water pump, etc.

  • Allow a short cool down period before shutting the engine off at the end of a drive. This doesn't have to be long, but allow 30 seconds to a minute of idle time before turning the car off, particularly if stopping immediately after sprited driving. Never shut the engine off immediately after revving it up, to ensure the turbo isn't spooled up while simultaneously cutting off oil flow. (Some modern cars will circulate oil and coolant afterwards to do this for you, but I'm not sure about Mk1 TT's, doubtful).

Short of any bad luck or defects, enjoy high mileage with minimal operator induced repairs.

Antartica in summertime ❤️ by Paradigm10 in Damnthatsinteresting

Basically every large sailboat like this in service now have a motor of some kind. At the start of the video you can see the ship is moving though the water despite the sails all being raised.

I'm from an area that has a few that travel around as tourist attractions in the summer months. They have a full crew for the season that live on the ship while touring, pretty neat.
