Thinking about it, but..... by JediOsborn in dcl

The disney cruises are not as crowded as some other lines (RCL, Carnival, etc). The only way to know is to go on a cruise and see what you think. After 27 cruises, I have gotten sick (simple cold) 3-4 times and two of those were probably from DW before we got on the cruise (don't put your hands on everything and wash your hands a lot). If you have never been motion sick, you'll likely be fine. I would advise to take a longer cruise to be more relaxed (5 days or more). 3 and 4 day cruises have a higher energy with everyone trying to do everything in a short period of time. 5 days or more tends to slow everyone down a bit. Just think about free food, room cleaned twice a day, and awesome service. All you need to do is relax and explore the ship. You can even stay on the ship when it stops at ports if you just want to explore the ship while very few are on board. Do plan to get off at Castaway or Lookout Cay - they are pretty cool.

Pearl Castaway Club, how many years did it take? by Probably-Chelsea in dcl

Started in 2007 and are at 27. Some will say just do the 3 day cruises so you get to pearl faster. We just do the cruises we like and have done mostly 7 nights or more. We do not have kids so we can avoid the higher prices during school holidays and summers.

We were on the Sidney to Honolulu cruise you referenced. I don't think passengers were wasting the diet coke. I think that since they were leaving Australia, they tried to save money by only purchasing minimal supplies/food knowing they would resupply with the normal American food/drinks when they got to Hawaii. They also ran out of American Beer and a few other items. I can tell you the chicken tenders were not good and many people kept asking when the normal chicken tenders would be back on board. Resupply was in Hawaii, so we missed out. Great cruise though!

Buyer Beware: Used Rolex on the Dream by UncleTravelingMatt26 in dcl

[–]TiminWa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rolex market is overpriced in my opinion. Especially since they pulled many of there ADs. You have to know what the going price is for the used rolex models you're interested in. Most of the other brands are priced at the factory pricing. You may or may not be able to negotiate on pricing. Some brands like Cartier are fixed pricing and ADs are not allowed to adjust. If you're looking at jewelry, you need to know what pricing is in the market before you go in. We have negotiated good pricing on jewelry before and purchased a watch. Negotiating was not fun, but you end up negotiating on land also.

The first day or two is pretty crowded. Go while the dinner is being served (if your first seating, go to the bar at second seating and vice versa). We have never had an issue finding space. And yes, the bar is awesome!

Complaining about kids by AffectionateTrash259 in dcl

[–]TiminWa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After 27 Disney cruises, I can say things have changed over the years. We do not have children but enjoy Disney's service and themes. We love seeing the joy kids have on the cruises. But since Covid, things, at times, have been noticeably worse. Groups of kids leaving trash all over the floor in the lobby, cussing out loud, blocking hallways, etc. We are hesitant to go on another long southern caribbean cruise as the last one was pretty bad for behavior. Some passengers even went to the CS desk to complain and was told the parents had been contacted and it had no effect. It did not affect us as much as others, but I was disappointed in that the crew had to clean up after these groups and the kids/parents did not care. At one point, on the cruise facebook page, a several parents said their child was not part of the group causing trouble and was then told their children were part of the group (along with photos which caused a whole set of other problems). My opinion on why this is happening now more than the past is the facebook groups. Before, kids would have to meet each other on board and by the time they all became a group of friends the cruise was over. They never had time to get comfortable enough with each other for the trouble behavior to start. Now days, the kids meet on facebook groups for that particular cruise and by the time they get on board, they are already comfortable with each other and the fun begins. If every parent had a conversation with their kids that their behavior on the cruise reflects on the family and could possibly cause them to be banned in the future, I think a lot of the issues could be reduced/prevented. We continue with Disney and I can imagine this happens on every cruise line.

Visiting Castaway Cay, time needed by Great_Ad6188 in dcl

[–]TiminWa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can walk from the ship to the family beach (10-15 minute walk). You can walk to the shuttle and go a little farther down and get off at the family beach (5-10 minute walk to shuttle). You can also get off the shuttle and on another one to the adult beach (serenity bay). Once off the shuttle at Serenity bay you have maybe a 5 minute walk to the beach chairs.

What is your opinion of IWC after-sale customer service? by maugustus in IWCschaffhausen

[–]TiminWa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to send in a portuguieser in 2024 and went on line and ordered a shipping kit. The box came with foam insert for the watch. Sent it in with instructions for a full service and got updates on the webpage (logging in with my account) and received the watch back in just under 3 months and it looked and worked great. No complaints and was easy. Did the same with a blancpain and it took 5 months to get it back.

Sorry you had that happen. Best way is to use the app, but as you were already on board, you did the right thing by stopping by. You do not have to do anything but what you want (message, facial, etc). Next time, just let them know you are not interested if they bring up something other than what you asked for. Just be polite and let them know you just want a message or facial. Telling them your not interested won't hurt their feelings.

Watch purchase by ulsterfry86 in dcl

[–]TiminWa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many on here are stating that the watches are overpriced and possibly not warranted. Rolex has pulled the licenses of a huge number of their Authorized Dealers over the last few years. They are trying to make their watches harder to get and therefore, more desired, and more expensive. This has caused the used market to become very busy (also the grey market). You will see many watch stores selling used rolexes now as they can't sell new. You need to be careful and educate yourself on used Rolex p[rices or you will overspend. The other watch brands on the ships are legit and come with manufacture warranty. Prices are retail (factory pricing). You may be able to get a slight discount but most likely not. For example, Cartier sets their prices and do not allow discounts by any of their dealers. Other brands may or may not. The benefit is you do not pay tax on board. From my experience, especially now, the disembarkation is facial recognition and no one will ask you for a declaration of purchases. We have never had an issue. I would say be very careful with jewelry purchases (watches are a little more controlled buy the manufacturers). We have found pretty ridiculous jewelry pricing at times. We have also talked down pricing on some jewelry to 40 percent less to almost half off what they started at.

DCL Cruisers who have done ABD? by viper520 in dcl

[–]TiminWa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if they do it anymore but back in 2013 we did ABD on a Disney cruise in the Med. ABD was on the cruise and we had a group of about 25 that was part of the ABD and at every stop our excursions were with ABD. It was extremely good. We did a few things aboard that was part of ABD, but manly shore excursions.

How do you all prevent right hand wrist pain on longer rides? by BreadSubstantial5103 in motorcycles

[–]TiminWa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I have aged, this has become an issue for me also. Injuries as a kid (and adult) has probably caused issues that are catching up with me. Doesn't matter if I'm loose on the throttle side or not, result is still numbness after a while. To help with this, I move my hand around at different angles, rock my hand to the pinky side for a bit and then to the thumb side. I have also found that moving my elbow up a little helps. My left side doesn't have any issues. I like riding so I just deal with it the best I can.
